Set as Roe v. Wade is struck down by the Supreme Court, this story explores the new realities single mothers are facing when Rey gets lost on her way back to her hotel room at Rose's wedding.
The damn room key isn’t working. Must’ve unmagnetized...demagnetized...broke.
Knocking softly on the door, Rey bites her lip, hoping Kaydel’s awake. “Kay?” she stage-whispers. “Kay, I’m sorry — the key’s —”
The door opens, but the familiar, half-naked stranger on the other side is decidedly not Kaydel Ko Connix.
Squinting up accusingly, since it is obviously all his fault this is befalling her, she comments blithely, “You’re not Kay.”
“Kylo,” he corrects.
She snorts at him. “As if I could forg—”
But he’s already disappeared into the inky darkness of the hotel room.
