Summary
“And the one with the highest mark is… Ms. Ryu! Congratulations!”
Finally!
She throws him a smug look, like the one he usually wears, satisfied by the dismayed expression that has graced his features at last. Victory truly has never tasted so sweet, she thinks.
“Mr. Seo, please use a pen as stated in the instructions. I wouldn’t consider your answer sheet next time.”
Then she sees it—the massive red mark scribbled at the top of his paper, which read: ‘–15’
...Goddammit.
He missed a perfect score, for once. All because she, in a moment of uncharacteristic but justified spite, denied him a pen.
Rumi retracts her statement. Victory has, in fact, never felt this nauseating.
Ryu Rumi doesn’t mind competition. As a matter of fact, she thrives in it. But when your rival is Seo Jinu, who happens to be the smartest man in your town, and you, despite the caffeine running your system and bags decorating your eyes, are always left chasing after his shadow—it starts to wear you down.
And worse, it makes you confront things about yourself that you’ve tried to outrun.
