“Where is your Luna, Hongjoong?” The king inquired, his voice carrying across the hall.
Seonghwa, who had been watching in quiet curiosity, felt a flicker of intrigue at the question. Yes, it was customary for Alphas to arrive with their Lunas, especially to events such as this.
The Alpha did not hesitate as he replied with a voice as steady as stone.
“That’s what I’m here for.”
Seonghwa blinked, his thoughts momentarily thrown into disarray. Here for what?
The Dragon king seemed equally intrigued. “Oh? Are you participating in the Mating Flight as well?”
“Yes.”

Summary
He doesn’t know how long he’s been pacing at this point. He ignores the bolts of pain shooting through his knee with every step.
The mission had gone well. Horribly so; Hongjoong can still taste the blood in his mouth and feel it on his skin. The smell is cloying, despite the fact that he changed his clothes multiple times.
He should take another shower. He clearly didn’t scrub hard enough the first time.

Summary
They called him Pirate King there first, miles below the surface.
Hongjoong doesn’t understand enough mer to know what is said, but he knows respect when he sees it. It is readily apparent in the eyes of the lord they are talking to every time he looks at the captain.
Something proud had flashed in Seonghwa’s eyes when he translated the phrase, and it still burned every time he was called by the title.
Hongjoong doesn’t tell him how it rings false.
There are no kings above the water, especially among pirates.
He is Captain. That is everything a king is, and so much more. He doesn’t need the title, and doesn’t know how to say he has everything he could ever want already.
