"You'd just think I was a monster." Caleb grabbed his glass, sloshing around his drink lazily. Then, he brought it up to his lips, forcing the burning liquid down until it numbed his throat. His ability to think comprehensively. His feelings of guilt.
He slammed the glass back down onto the counter. "...It doesn't matter, Wingman. You wouldn't get it." Caleb murmured, coughing quietly into the back of his hand. For a second, Gideon almost felt guilty: "You sure about that, Mac?" "Yeah, Wingman." His friend reassured him. And with that, Caleb stood, gathering his jacket, keys, and wallet.
