Summary
It was entirely unfair, Alicent thought, that on this day (a day where she was hungover, had no make-up on, was sweating to the point that she could feel it beading on her temple and upper lip, and her shirt was sticking everywhere) she would come face-to-face with the most gorgeous woman she had ever seen.
“Hi,” the object of Alicent’s frustration said amiably, standing behind the till in the Student Union’s coffee shop. “How are you?”
In which Alicent Hightower drinks coffee, makes small talk, and really, really fancies her favourite barista.

Summary
“What are we?” Rhaenyra asked.
At last, her grip on the mug loosened. But Alicent was suddenly reluctant to take it; it felt burdened with expectation now, like the talking stick her hippy of a boss had introduced to their team meetings. It wasn’t an entirely unreasonable question, she supposed, given she’d barely left Rhaenyra’s place or side in a month.
Nevertheless, she shifted uncomfortably under Rhaenyra’s weight. “Why?”
“Perhaps I’d like to know,” Rhaenyra said pointedly, taking an obnoxious sip from Alicent’s coffee, “if I’ve got a girlfriend or a squatter.”

Summary
The last memory that came was so mortifying Alicent resolved to not remember anything else. It wasn’t even the fact that it ended with her chundering in the pub toilets, but what had led her there: spotting a spring of mistletoe across the pub, pinned to the beamed ceiling.
Alicent cringed as the lightbulb moment popped into her head as suddenly and clearly as it had the night before. Perfect, she remembered thinking elatedly. An excuse to kiss Rhaenyra with no ramifications. What a brilliant Christmas tradition. What a fantastic, foolproof plan.
A tennis-verse Christmas AU within an AU, set a few years before the events of 'strawberries & cream'.

Summary
If the Red Keep wasn’t already the place to be in London tonight, then it certainly is now. Rhaenyra Targaryen has declared it so.
Alicent swigs her prosecco, swallowing hard, and forces a smile. “No, it’s fine. It’s a superclub, right? There’ll be so many people, and she’ll be VIP. We won’t see her.”
I won’t see her, she repeats internally, a mantra and a misery all at once.

Summary
She lifts the plates at his shoulders, where the fabric remains tucked, and the cape falls.
“Pretend I’m her,” she commands him.
Ser Criston Cole surges forward, his mouth landing on her clavicle with a desperate moan. “Rhaenyra,” he says, with a sweetness that shocks her; he only ever speaks of the princess with such venom, but now he chants her name like a hymn.
x
Alicent and Criston’s mutual obsession with Rhaenyra takes a new turn after Viserys dies. S02E01, canon-compliant.
