Summary
After gifting Shadow his den so he has somewhere safe to stay while on the run, Sonic promises to keep Shadow’s fugitive identity and their growing friendship a secret in order to protect him.
Meanwhile, the Wachowski's under strict orders from G.U.N. to report any sightings of Shadow's whereabouts, and are clueless to Sonic’s escapades with their enemy. But, his plan to keep both sides of his life separate were dashed when Tails found out about Shadow and Sonic's relationship by himself, and now it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the family catch on, too.
Sonic is caught between his loyalty to Shadow and his duty to protect the family who saved him. He’s faced with the decision to betray Shadow's trust by revealing that his secret is compromised and lose what they have forever, or jeopardise Tom and Maddie’s safety by staying silent and intentionally deceiving G.U.N., risking everything they've built.
All Sonic has to do is maintain the balance without tipping the scales over the other, which shouldn't be an issue so long as he can keep his (probably, maybe, definitely romantic) feelings for Shadow under wraps.
What's the worst that can happen?

Tears invaded Sonic's vision, never did they fall, even if he ignored every emotional wall he’d ever built, breaking through like a wrecking ball. Frozen in place, unsure whether to leap towards him or run away and attempt to bring coherence to the situation, a single tear rolled down his cheek. It was numb, he couldn’t feel the warmth of the salt his body produced. He didn’t know whether to be relieved or even more terrified at the sensation.__
Sonic expected there to be some troubles in this new adventure he found himself in. After all, someone was stealing his identity to destroy military bases. What he didn't expect though was to wake up in his clockless house... on the MOON.or
Sonic finds himself in a time loop, and the only way it breaks is if he convinces Shadow that he knows him (at least that's what he thinks).or, or

After two years of having to buy the same small couch over and over again, Maddie finally caves and buys a nice big one. Unexpectedly, the soft plush drifted the two (usually spatting) hedgehogs closer.
Or, I wrote this because my cats were licking each other and being all cute, but then out of nowhere, they started fighting again mid-cuddle session.

Another frigid gust hit him, spreading deep into his bones. Subtle movement at the corner of his eye caused him to spin quickly to the side, his fists raised. His eyes met nothing but empty space. His heart picked up its pace, his breath becoming shorter.
A fear, deep and chilling, began to spread through his chest, his breathing becoming more erratic and tight. He swallowed thickly.
