Summary
The bird, an eagle, lands on his shoulder with dignity and grace. Her feathers are a wise burgundy streaked with black and draped over long, sturdy wing bones meant for unhappy travels. Her beak is broad and keen, a hunting prick that pecks between the layers of jumpy meat. When she’s not dining, she’s sending a message. Summary
Aichmophobia
/āk-mə-ˈfō-bē-ə/Noun.
(1) A debilitating fear of sharp objects, often onset by related trauma. The untrained mind sees a keen edge or honed tip and, instead of anything productive, hides within itself. Its precautions are sedimentary; unspeakable memories hide within dark recesses, which layer atop foggy pockets burying unpleasant avenues. The aim is to avoid, not overcome. The host is worst off for it.
(2) A terrible thing to have when your god demands blood.
