Another small noise hisses out between clenched teeth and then that small noise gets bigger, turns into a groan as Frank starts jacking himself in earnest, and he doesn’t— Frank doesn’t want anyone to hear. They won’t, it’s a stupid thing to even worry about because he’s alone, even the bus driver and sound techs having fucked off to spend their Saturday nights somewhere better than this smelly fucking bus, but years of sharing small, enclosed spaces with a half dozen people at the best of times has him on edge, wary of making any sound at all. He’s not thinking when he gets a hold of the hem of his t-shirt and drags it upwards, his nipples pebbling to hardness as the cold air hits them, stuffing a mouthful of fabric into his mouth. Something to keep him quiet, something to bite down on.
“Mm,” a low voice says, somewhere to Frank’s right. There’s a quiet hum to it. Satisfaction? Amusement? “Don’t do that. It was just getting good.”
Frank stills immediately, his eyes fluttering open.

The thing is, it’s not like Gerard doesn’t know. All the guys know — they kind of had to be brought in on it after the attack, both for safety and legal reasons. They were his friends, sure, but in the early days, Frank didn’t want anyone to know. But the lawyers had all said that it was important, that if he wanted to keep his dream, keep the band, and more importantly, make sure that they wanted to keep him, that they would have to be the first he told, right after his mom and dad.
And while it’s not exactly public, their fans aren’t stupid. They’re devious little crafty fucks with no idea of personal space half the time and even though they've never been overt about it, Frank’s seen the message boards over the years. Has seen his own name pop up in fucking lycanthropy advice forums, all careful to stick to claims of speculation and suspected contagion.
But Gerard knows.
Which is why the first time that his hand curls into Frank’s hair on stage, Frank jolts and fucks up the chord he’s playing, a squeal of twangy feedback that makes him flinch almost as much as the touch itself.

Like, stealing Gerard's filthy laundry, disappearing for days at a time, frequently covered in mysterious scratches kind of strange.

Summary
Gerard still never understood why they didn't end up stronger, sure they know of bodybuilders and wrestlers but even then they aren't as strong in comparison.
They admire the creativity though. Gerard loves how people get out of nearly anything thrown their way.
So when they crashed, they were happy it wound up being earth and not some other planet. Gerard wishes they could stay home, but they'd rather it be earth than most other planets.
