Artoirel very gingerly sits on the floor. He cleans enough that it shouldn't get his slacks dirty, but it still feels strange to do. He holds the dish up to Odette's head to make it a little easier to eat. She starts nibbling at the stringy meat, purring louder as Steph pets her, until he makes the mistake of trying to pet her paw.
Odette yowls. She jumps off the ottoman and slides a bit on the hardwood floor. The cat ducks behind Artoirel and hisses with her whole face, purring still, but clearly not in the mood to play.

Summary
Cruelty's sisters came one by one over the last few months, somehow getting physical forms and contracting themselves to the family. Zebani had been admittedly sad to see Cruelty inevitably be alloted to someone else. They weren't exactly friends, but Cruelty was the first person to look at her with desire in a long time, even if it was carnal and visceral. She had nothing left to give Cruelty. Zebani had her place; in the basement, with the rest of her house's skeletons.
