“Long night, honey?” Catra called all her customers honey. It was diner thing more than a Catra thing. The drunk mumbled something incoherent and Catra rolled her eyes. Just because she was used to dealing with drunks on a nearly nightly basis didn’t mean they weren’t annoying as hell. She hardened her tone and raised her voice a little, “You’re going to have to speak up if you want to order anything.”
The drunk finally sat up, pushed their hood back, and looked at Catra, blue eyes bloodshot and tear stained. Catra recognized her instantly.
“Adora?”

Regina is a deer caught in headlights as Cady lifts her foot from the pedal once more and trains her midnight blue gaze on the girl who’s now in her sightline. Cady studies her like a piece of art, her eyes flitting over her face before actively following every curve and line of her body. With Cady surveying her, Regina feels hot all over and her face begins to grow red. She doesn’t think it could get any worse, but then Cady speaks. To her.
“Oh! Hey, Regina.”
Regina almost passes out as soon as she hears her name on the redhead's lips.

“Seriously, Adora. All that money for, like, holding hands in front of a camera? It can’t get easier than that. You endured me for like, ten years? I’m sure you can power through these four weeks.” She gets up and leans on the back of her chair, getting closer to Adora’s face. “Just don’t fuck it up and we’ll be fine.”
Adora scowls at her and forces herself to not start another argument. Catra ignores it and turns away.
“See ya later, girlfriend.” She says over her shoulder.
Girlfriend. Adora shudders at that word.
Only after Catra is gone Adora remembers they didn’t even plan anything out. She closes her eyes and rubs her temples again, taking another deep breath. Four weeks of pretending to be Catra’s girlfriend. Those are about to be the longest weeks of her life.

Summary
Bright Moon was a small tourist town. The kind of place people visited, not the kind of place they stayed in. So for someone like Adora, looking to take a little time to grow up and prepare herself for the next step in her life, spending a year here made sense.
It was just supposed to be a stop in the road to bigger and better things. But the people were so nice and Adora had never really had a lot of friends growing up.
Then there was Catra. The kind of person that could throw a wrench into even the most well thought out plan.
