Summary
The grand opening of The Holidome had only just begun: lanterns glowed overhead, the crowd pressed close in anticipation, and the high school band played ‘Downtown’ on the balcony above. The music was half-swallowed by the low murmur of conversation as guests shifted restlessly, waiting for Mayor Vaughn to begin his speech and the real festivities to follow.
He and Quint hadn’t had much choice about coming. They were Amity’s “heroes”—that’s what the invitations had said, complete with embossed lettering and a soft touch finish. He knew how the town worked; it was politics, and Vaughn needed them visible and smiling, a reminder of how far they’d come since the shark that had nearly ruined everything.

Summary
“Yeah?” Hooper hums, scratching his beard. As much as he’d love to be focused on the serial killer shark lurking somewhere in the darkness or on the water infiltrating the boat, a bit of levity never hurts. Well, this kind could. He smacks his hand on the ledge and pulls the knife from his pocket with a smirk. “Prove it.” He splays his fingers, opens the blade, and taps the tip of the knife between each one and back, admittedly pretty slowly considering the alcohol, lack of sleep, and bubbling nerves in him.

Summary
“There’s a lone orca who guards the wrecks. Name’s Quint.”
“Lone?”
“If he’s not expecting you,” Brody said, serious now, “I’d advise you don’t go. He doesn’t like company.”
“Orcas don’t live alone.”
“He does.”Bookmarked by unknownrust

Summary
His shoulders were shaking, his lungs burned and his heart was pounding loud in his ears. He couldn't tell if he was crying or if it was just sea water dripping down his face. Quint's blood reached for him and encircled him until the screaming stopped, and the shark slipped away.
Jolting forward, Matthew's hand latched onto his chest, and he released a strangled sob. His eyes were wide open, with tears streaming down his cheeks. A hand on his shoulder stopped him from standing, and Matt had to take a moment to calm his hysteria. He stared up at the ceiling for a few long moments before he turned his head to face Quint in bed beside him.
"Another nightmare, eh?" Quint whispered, then grunted as he sat up to comfort the other man.
"Yeah, I just." Matt's voice trailed off, then his breath hitched and he buried his face in his hands. "I don't know."
"I still have nightmares from the Indianapolis," Quint shrugged. "There's no rhyme or reason to these things, it just happens. I'm here."
After a brief moment of silence, Matthew nodded. "Yeah. You're here."Or, after waking up in the dead of night, Quint comforts Matt in more than one way.
