    "How... are those magnets? Do you have some magnets in your pockets?" Charles hovered over him, looking for the trick.

    "I am the magnet." The boy smiled wolfishly at him. "You can understand me?"

    Erik was a welcomed distraction, and God knew the only friend he had was his sister. At least if this boy was a figment of his imagination, the one he conjured up for himself was his age, and interested in talking to him. "Are you an agent? What do you mean by being a magnet? I... of course I understand you. How old are you?"

    "I'm 16. No, I'm not an agent. I'm their project. Their pet." He smirked brightly and dangerously as he let the coin float up from his hand and then through the air, up near the lights. "As I said, I don't need magnets. I'm unique."

    It's the end of the world. The earth is a wasteland, ruined by nuclear wars, and humans struggle to survive the effects of radiation. Several mutants, on the other hand, are able to thrive and become leaders.

    One such leader, Sebastian Shaw, has been the self-proclaimed king of Westchester for decades, and his settlement is supposedly the richest and most prosperous in the world. No one knows, however, that this prosperity has come at the price of mutants being enslaved and experimented on.

    Charles Xavier -- no, Subject X, is Sebastian's favorite test subject. He manages to escape, bringing along his greatest secret, but Shaw's men are getting closer, and he is quickly losing hope...

    Summary

    The last they remembered - it was 1947.

    Charles and Raven were preparing to go overseas for Charles' start of University.

    Erik was in the midst of hunting down the man that killed his mother and turned him into a monster.

    Nothing is easy but it's exactly the way it should be, mistakes and all.

    Then suddenly everything is different. They're in clothes that don't fit. They're surrounded by people in inexplicable costumes and with strange abilities just like their own. And the world doesn't make sense anymore.

    Apparently that's because it's over seventy five years into the future.

    So in addition to figuring out what happened to the world they knew, they have to try to learn to navigate this new one.
