Summary
When Zander and his friend encountered Souler, they thought they were just being pranked by each other, and by the time they knew it was real they just couldn't take it seriously. After all, if it couldn't hurt them when they thought it was a prank, there's no way it was really dangerous. Instead, they took a video of themselves mocking it and posted that alongside their Herobrine sighting. Surely this would have no unforeseen consequences, right?
