Summary
Maxine was finally done with work and wanted to treat herself with some of the best pasta, created by a friend named Franco, only for her to witness Franco's attempted murder since he owes the mafia a lot of money. Scared for Franco and his family, Maxine jumps in, planning on sacrificing herself, only to get kidnapped, used as a hostage, and not even getting her pasta. Now she's confused on why this man wouldn't just kill her.
I also developed the idea since for some reason all mafia romances has the guy immediately falling in love/obsessed with her, and I want to play with the idea where he doesn't, so this will a slow burn. This will be developed into dark romance.

The human's lips moved quickly again, but, once more, Thranduil couldn’t understand what was being said, grimacing as a whistle covered all other sounds except for his heartbeat, which was growing slower.
He felt his eyelids grow heavier and he leaned his head back against the rough trunk behind him.
No, he read from the human's lips. Don’t fall asleep.
He saw her pull something from beneath her gray cloak, a vial with a bluish liquid inside. She brought it to his lips, gripping his chin to open his mouth. She poured a sip between his lips and its sweet taste mixed with the acrid taste of blood hit his tongue.
Thranduil managed to swallow before the abyss closed in on him.Series
