The door slowly creaked open as a honey blonde head of hair became visible from behind it.
“Hey.” She waited for Shauna to nod before walking in the room the whole way. “I know that we’re still kind of… angry at each other right now, but-” She swallowed while she quickly looked away before looking back at her, suddenly confident. She’s looking at her in the eyes, her chin is up and her lips are pressed tightly together. “Look. You’re still my best friend, and you have a kid now. And because I know that we’re going to get over this fight eventually, because Jeff isn’t shit. And I wanna be here for you and the little guy.”
AKA, Jackie and wilderness baby live and we get to imagine the consequences of it.
Also the title is a quote from the lyrics of Beside You by Marianas Trench

If you don’t question what you hear, read, see, taste and smell you’re being a moron of the highest order, and you’ll never be able to understand, or at least try to understand, the world around you. By all rights, you should be reading this and think that I, Daniel Molloy, reporter extraordinaire, have completely lost my marbles.
I will leave it to you, dear reader, to come to the conclusion yourself on whether or not I’ve completely lost myself to this degenerative disease that has eaten away parts of my brain and mobility or if my age, my experience, has allowed me to see the truth hidden away by the sanity and rationality that society requires of us.
Regardless, what I have heard, what I have lived, what I have experienced, I have long ago left the station of sanity, and more importantly, normality. Losing my grip to that is what allows me to recount to you what is first and foremost a story about the power of emotions. A story about love and hate, of family and solitude, of grief so bleak it shatters the earth and of joy so great it brightens the world around you, taking the nasty imperfections it beholds and hiding them in its underbelly.
