Eight pieces of crest and other tales

Summary:

Digimon adventure/zero two drabbles. Unconnected, unless said otherwise.

Notes:

"Digidestined around the world are gathered for summit by original eight. To start of the meeting, original eight present their famous crests, which might not be what others expected."

Basically a Digimon Adventure/Zero two version of one of my favorite scenes from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Enjoy.

Chapter Text

Miyako looked around the room full of people. They were all digidestined. From all around the world. Wallace and Michael were there from America, many other kids that they had met previously during their world tour after Christmas.
Not all the world’s digidestined had been able to make it, but this was still impressive gathering.

They were all standing in one room, except the original eight. The famous original digidestined were sitting around table in the middle of room.
Hikari, Takeru, Jou, Mimi, Sora, Koushiro and Yamato were sitting, looking serious in situation. Taichi was only one of them on his feet, standing at the end of table with Daisuke and Ken standing behind him. Taichi looked like such a natural leader even in room full of people, that it should be no wonder he had risen to the status in mere group of eight. Miyako herself was standing behind Takeru’s and Hikari’s chairs with Iori next to her.

“Okay, everyone. Fellow digidestined.” Taichi started to speak, gathering everyone’s attention.

“Thank you all for showing up to the first official digi-internationl.” This caused rest of the eight around table to snap their heads towards Taichi.

“Okay, so we’re are still thinking the name.” Yamato said with look somewhere between bemused and annoyed.

“Anyway” said Taichi who apparently didn’t want to get stuck on semantics.

“Since the current situation in digital world has gone close to critical, we taught a little international teamwork would be in order. We are gonna discuss the situation and ideas to solve it. We original eight are going to be leading the discussion here.” Taichi turned to look at other seven around the table.

“As sign of this what-ever-you-wanna-call-it-meeting being in officially in order, please present your pieces of crest.”

While saying this, Taichi nudged Daisuke, who quickly hurried next where Mimi was sitting. Miyako was confused by this, until she realized that Taichi apparently wanted Daisuke to collect the crests from all original eight. He stood next Mimi first. With a smile full on confidence, she pulled out a pink cowboy hat and handed it to Daisuke with nudge. Miyako was surprised. What did the hat had to do with anything? Daisuke, however, held the hat like a collection plate and moved over to Hikari next. Miyako watched as Hikari dropped a whistle to the hat. Next Takeru handed green children’s cap to the “collection plate”.

“What the…” Miyako started as Jou dropped pair of old, stained and cracked looking eyeglasses to the pile.

“Those aren’t pieces of crest. They are just pieces of junk.” She whispered as Sora tossed bright blue sports hat that looked like it would only fit a pre-teen, on top of the other junk.

“Ah, well you see…” started Takeru to whisper back as he watched Yamato to pull out an old harmonica and give it very uncharacteristic warm look before tossing it among others.

“Originally we would of course use our crests here. But do their physical forms getting sort of …deleted by Apocalymon during our epic climax battle, we have make do with these.”

“So why not change the name?” Whispered Iori from other side of Takeru chair. Koushiro was currently sticking an old looking white and yellow laptop to the pile.

“To what?” Takeru asked, sounding little amused. “The eight pieces of what-ever-we-happened-to-be-carrying-with-us-during-our-original-adventure? Oh yeah, because that has an epic ring to it.”

By now Daisuke was back at the side of Taichi, handing him the collection hat like it was some religious sacrifice. Taichi, however, held out on hand above the pile Daisuke was offering. Taichi smiled kindly, almost apologetically.

“I’ll be needing those now back, Daisuke.” Taichi said looking straight into Daisuke’s eyes.

“I’ve kept them well. Their condition is like new” Daisuke started babbling, sounding almost apologetic himself too.

“Yes, I know you have made me proud. But I need them back now.” Without saying more, Taichi pulled the goggles from Daisuke’s head. A bit dramatically, he dropped them among other “pieces of crest”.

I had taken Miyako a second to realize that those round goggles had indeed been originally Taichi’s. Taichi had given them to Daisuke on his first adventure. After Daisuke had (how fitting to this context) claimed the crest of courage in form of a digiegg.

Chapter 2: New role for Takeru

Summary:

Taichi and Takeru have chat about the group dynamic of the zero two kids.

Chapter Text

Takeru wasn’t having the best possible day. The chosen groups trip to digiworld had again included an altercation between him and Daisuke. That guy was so hot headed. And he really seemed to think that being the leader meant that others would always just follow him without a question.

Suddenly Takeru was brought out of his pondering by a knock on the door. Opening the door revealed Taichi standing on the other side.

“Taichi?” Takeru was honestly surprised. Taichi didn’t usually drop by unannounced. “Is something wrong? Is it Hikari?” Takeru got worried.

“No, no. Everything is fine, Takeru. I just thought I’d come to talk to you.”

“About what?”

“Well…” Taichi was rubbing his neck, apparently having trouble putting to words what was in his mind. “I heard from Hikari about your fight with Daisuke today.”

“Oh.” Takeru said. “Are you here scowl me. It wasn’t even a fight really.”

“No, Takeru. I’m not here to scowl. I’m not even taking any sides in your and Daisuke’s fisticuffs. This is more like a wise sage moment.” Taichi sounded a bit amused. “Come on, let’s take walk.”

They were soon walking along the riverbank nearby. Takeru had just started to open up about his argument with Daisuke at the digiworld. Taichi was listening and nodding understandingly.

“It’s just that…when I think that he is being idiot or making a mistake, I can’t just stand quiet. I don’t want to be the one who starts fights in the group, but I won’t just stand by either. Well, to be fair, Daisuke gets yelling from Miyako as well.”

“I see.” Taichi said with relaxed voice. “And honestly, Takeru, I think it’s a good thing that you’re ready to tell Daisuke off when you think it’s right thing to do.”

“Really?”

“Yes.” Taichi nodded. “Remember when I lead us during our first adventure, and Yamato and I use to fight time to time.”

“Yeah. And that was an understatement. There was literally that one moment when the rest of us thought you two were going to kill each other.”

“Oh yeah, that whole Pinomon thing.” Taichi smiled to the memory. “But I still always wanted to keep Yamato closest to me. Do you know why?”

“Because you were friends.”

“Well yes, of course.” Taichi said. “But I was friends with all of you. The reason I wanted to keep Yamato always close because he would fight and argue me. And I probably didn’t even realize this fully myself back then.”

“What are you saying?” Takeru raised an eyebrow.

“It’s like one the good leader’s qualities. The last thing that I would’ve needed in that situation was someone standing next to me, telling me that everything that I did, and thought was just great. A good leader should always have lieutenant that questions and challenges him. It gives new perspective and keeps from doing anything too stupid.”

“Wait, Yama was your lieutenant?” Takeru sounded amused.

“My point being,” Taichi was rolling his eyes at Takeru’s reaction. “if Daisuke is really going to lead your generation the way I lead ours, he is going to need his own lieutenant. Some one who is going to challenge his impulses. His own Yamato if you will. With your experience in the digiworld, Takeru, I think that role will fall to you.”

Takeru looked at Taichi. “I think I get it. I take, it’s going to be an ungrateful job.”

“Yeah.” Taichi smiled a little apologetically. “You’re going to be punching each other many, many times more.”

Chapter 3: The boy who lived

Summary:

You can probably guess which famous opening chapter I'm mimicking here :P

Chapter Text

It was a quiet suburban street. Only very ordinary people lived there, a kind of people whose lives in never happened anything too eventful. The streets name was Minkan street. It was late at night when something very strange started to happen on the Minkan street. Something very out of the ordinary.

Someone might have noticed strange thing even earlier that day, had they stopped to look carefully. On one the bushes a pretty little pink bird had sit a whole day. It was a kind of bird you might see on an oil painting. An exotic bird with pink feathers, long tailfeathers, and little blue feathers, curling on top of its head. You would expect to find such a bird in paradise island but not on the Minkan street. If someone had spotted the bird, they could’ve thought it as an escaped pet. But there was something else out of ordinary besides the bird. On a low stone wall, right next to the bush where bird was sitting, a white cat sat very still. Like the bird, the cat was a curious looking creature as well. White as milk, except its tail that had a bit of purple at the end and the front paws, which had uncanny greenish stripes like tiger pattern. The cat did acknowledge the bird, but made no effort to stalk it, like one could expect from a cat. If anything, judging by a twitch of a tail and other feline body language, the bird was making the cat nervous. Yet both animals had stayed the whole day in their place, keeping a low profile. Until the dark had already fallen on the Minkan street and all of its ordinary inhabitants were sound asleep. That’s when the truly odd things started to happen.

Between a few big trees at the curve of the Minkan street, a man appeared. He appeared so suddenly that you could’ve sworn he had just grown from the ground or something. The man walked the street and stood under the street light. He was someone or rather something that Minkan street had never seen before. A kind of man who shouldn’t have any business at the most ordinary Minkan street. He was likely on his early twenties, dresses in bizarre manner. He was wearing blue pants and white, laced boots on top of them. His navy colored coat looked like it was an odd crossover between a jacket and a cape, extending all most down to his ankles on the back. The wrists and hem of the jacked had gold printings on them. From his neck hanged what looked like gold medal on leather string. The medal had a symbol on it that reminded a sun. The man’s wild looking brown hair was held up by a black leather belt on his forehead. On the belt there two round lenses on the front. Some inner-city youth would’ve probably called the head gear ‘a steampunk-look’.

The man stood under the street light and scanned his surroundings. He started to dig thru his pockets and lifted out a little device. He held the tiny device in the air and its tiny screen started to shimmer. Then, all the street lights on Minkan street started to wane out simultaneously. Soon it was completely dark.
The man put the device back into his pocket and started to walk down the Minkan street. He stopped right at the point where the two animals were still holding still. Man smiled and huffed without even looking at the animals.

“I should’ve known that I find you here.”

As reaction to the man’s words, the pink bird jumped down from the bush to the street. A blink of an eye later the bird was gone, and in its place stood a red-haired woman. She looked about the man’s age. She too was dressed in peculiar manner, wearing a festive looking pink kimono with blue patterning on it. She walked to the man with displeased look on her face.

“Taichi.” she said as greeting to the man.

“Sora, always a pleasure.” Taichi answered, with small smile still on his lips.

The man, Taichi, then turned to look at the cat, still sitting still on the fence.

“Come on out you too. I know it’s you.”

The cat meowed and jumped down on the street. Suddenly it had changed as well. In its place stood a girl. Younger than the other two, the girl was wearing a white-purple-pink colored outfit that included a long sleeve shirt, miniskirt and leggings. And a small half-cape hung from her back. Both the of the women were also wearing medals with different symbols. The redhead’s medal had symbol resembling a heart, while the younger girl’s symbol was something of a starburst. The girl huffed and looked rather displeased.

“How did you know it was me? You weren’t supposed to know about my animagus abilities.” The girl complaint.

“Well, the coloring of your cat form was a bit give away, Hikari. Also, I am your big brother. I’d recognize you in any disguise.” Taichi answered, smiling more now.

“Why are you here, Taichi?” Sora asked.

“I’d imagine for the same reason as you.” Taichi answered with a shrug.

“So, it’s true. The rumors of what happened.” Hikari said and covered her mouth.

“Yes.” Taichi said simply.

Sora looked pale and sadden. “And the boy? Is it true as well?”

“Yes.” Taichi said looking saddened. “The boy lived. I have taken it upon myself to deliver him to his only living relatives.”

“You mean them?” Sora almost yelled as she pointed to a house across the street.

“Taichi, you can’t mean it.” Hikari said. “We have been watching them the whole day. They are the as far from our kind of people as you get. He can’t live here.”

“He is going to be famous.” Sora said. “Every child in our world is going to learn his name. This day might one day be named after him”

“Exactly.” Taichi said. “It is not good for him to grow up in such a fame. Superstar before he can even walk and talk. That’s not healthy for any child. No. It’s better for him to grow up away from all of that. Until the time is right.”

Sora and Hikari looked at each other. They both knew that Taichi was right.

“So, where is he?” Sora asked curiously.

“Jou is bringing him here.” Taichi said.

Suddenly they heard a sound of bicycle bell. Oddly enough it sounded like it was coming above them. As they turned to look, the saw a light shaking in the sky above them. Someone was paddling a bicycle in the sky. The rider started to get lower and lower, until he landed on the street right next to them. The rider was tall man in a cream-colored robe. His hair was blue-black, and he was wearing a round eye-glasses. The new-comer was also wearing a medal, one that bared a symbol similar to a cross. He stepped off the bike and walked to the others, carrying a small bundle on his arms.

“Evening Taichi.” Jou said. “Oh, you’re here too Sora. And Hikari.”

“Yes, we are, Jou.” Sora answered, seeming anxious to peak at the cloth bundle in Jou’s arms.

They all leaned to look at the bundle and saw a small baby sleeping inside.

“Where did you get the bike, by the way, Jou?” Taichi asked, as he took the child from Jou’s arms.

“Yamato lent it to me.” Jou answered as he and the others started to follow Taichi towards the house Sora had pointed earlier.

Carefully Taichi placed the child on the doorstep. He pulled a letter out his pocket and put it on top of the bundle. That all stood up and looked at the baby one final time.

“Well, we should probably go. There is nothing more to us here.” Taichi said. “I heard that Mimi is throwing a party for the gang. Everyone is celebrating tonight.”

“Oh boy, a party a la Mimi.” Sora said looking somewhere between amused and despaired.

But Hikari was already pulling Sora with her. Seemingly excited about the idea.

“Well good if everyone is going to be there.” Jou said. “I can return Yamato his bicycle.”

They were all hurrying away from the house. Taichi had picked a little device from earlier out his pocket. As his friends were making their way off the Minkan street, Taichi’s device made sound and all the street lamps brightened, until Minkan street was fully light again. Taichi turned and made one final look towards the little sleeping child at the doorstep.

“Until we meet again, best of luck to you. Little Daisuke Motomiya.”

Chapter 4: Old wounds, resurfaced.

Notes:

I just use kept wondering how this part of the original story was revealed to the new generation. I might later put out an alternative verion where Tailmon has this talk with Ken.

Chapter Text

“Can we trust Ken?” Miyako asked.

Daisuke and Iori were sitting with her in the Yagami’s living room. The TV was open in the background, but they weren’t watching anymore. Hikari and Takeru were currently in the kitchen preparing the snacks. Their digimon partners were on their feed.
Since they were all gathered, Daisuke had brought up the thought of asking Ken to join them on their trips to digiworld, since Ken wasn’t the kaiser anymore. There had been some talk on the topic before already, but nothing had been decided in one way or another.

“Look, he made mistakes, but he has realized that himself also. What’s the point holding a grudge anymore?” Daisuke argued.

“It’s not just simple logic like that, Daisuke.” Iori said.

There was silent bounce. They all turned towards TV, which was supposed to be on mute. Tailmon had jumped on top of TV and was now looking them with curios eyes.

“Sounded like you guys were having an argument.”

“We were just discussing about Ken.” Miyako explained.

“Can we just look pass on what he did so soon? I mean, he was full-blown enemy for us.” Iori said.

Tailmon listened and got an uneasy look on her face. It was like she was pondering some very hard thought.

“Some wisdom from experience you’d like share with us?” Miyako asked when she saw Tailmon’s look.

“Your situation just reminds me of something from our first adventure.” Tailmon said. “The other seven digidestined, they…they forgave me.”

All three digidestined in the living room raised their heads in unison and looked at Tailmon.

“Forgave you what?” Miyako asked, sounding somewhere between worry and confusion.

“You guys remember how Hikari joined the group only later, during the original adventure?” Tailmon asked.

“Yeah. When the others came back from their first trip. When they had to follow that Vandemon guy here.” Daisuke answered.

“And I came with Vandemon. As his general. Evil’s minion extraordinaire.” Tailmon said with dead serious look on her eyes.

Daisuke, Miyako and Iori all stared Tailmon in complete confusion.

“You were on the bad guy’s side? Seriously?” Miyako asked.

Yes. When I first met the other digidestined I fought them to the ground in order to prevent them from following Vandemon and his troops to this world.”

“But…when Hikari joined the digidestined, you had change of heart?” Miyako asked.

“Not at first. I was the one who found out about Hikari first. And the first time I met her it was just two of us and I seriously considered taking her out.” Tailmon’s word rang with cold hollow.

The three kids were now staring her shocked and mortified.

My point being, Ken is not the only one, who has stood in the wrong side of history. Or the only one who has done things he probably wishes he could undo. He can’t redeem himself in your eyes, if you never give him a chance. It still doesn’t have to happen overnight” Tailmon finished.

Daisuke, Iori and Miyako shared a look amongst each other. Tailmon had a point. But also, there was something else. With Tailmon’s revelation, the three newbies had realized how much of the digidestined history they still didn’t know.

“Just out of curiosity,” Daisuke said, “how did your ‘turn for the better’ actually happen?”

“Oh, you have to ask Hikari that. I get way to emotional recalling it.” Tailmon said, as she bounced of the TV.

Now the three kids very feeling a bit confused and amused. The cool-headed and always controlled Tailmon getting emotional? That sounded almost unrealistic.

Chapter 5: Paparazzies

Summary:

Two paparazzies end up stalking a group of famous people by a chance. What is their connection?

Notes:

Just avoid confusion, the side character Koji in this chapter is not Kouji from Digimon Frontier. The name is just a coincidence. This is not crossover of any kind.

Chapter Text

Toshi was a paparazzi. A good one for that matter. Currently he was squatting across the street from a restaurant where one of his usual marks was supposed to appear in any moment. Yamato Ishida, the young rock star on his twenties. The tip Toshi had received was good and he was sure that no one else hadn’t heard from it. So, he thought until he heard rambling on the same alleyway he was currently hiding.

To his surprise he saw one his colleagues, Koji, sneaking towards same opening he was. It was even more weird since he and Koji usually never followed same celebrities. Koji was usually covering athletes. Never before had he gone after musician.

“Koji! What the hell? Why are you here?” Toshi was half-whispering.

“What do you mean me? You’re the one coming to my territories.”

“What? Since when you have covered musicians?”

“Musicians? What are you babbling? Last time I checked Yagami was still a soccer player.”

“Yagami?” Now Toshi was lost completely. Had his tip been a false?

“Taichi Yagami. The captain of our national soccer team. Perhaps you’ve heard of him.” Koji was explaining with an eyeroll.

“Taichi Yagami here? But my tip was about Yamato Ishida.”

“Ishida? Don’t know anything about that. Could it actually be that they are both coming here today?” Koji said with raised eyebrows.

As they were talking, Toshi suddenly noticed movement in the restaurant windows across the street. His mark had arrived.

“Well my guy is here at least.”

“Wait, wait.”

The two photographers were gazing the window as they saw the soccer star Yagami was indeed currently entering the restaurant across the street. As he walked in, someone got up from bar stool, where he had been crouching with his back to the window. It was none other than Yamato Ishida.

The two celebrities were indeed happening to be in the same place. What’s even more strange, as soon as two men had noticed each other they went to greet. But it wasn’t just a simple handshake or bow that two well-known people might have been expected to give one another. They shook hands and padded shoulders like old friends would. And after that they moved to share a table.

“Okay, is there anything I should know?” Koji asked sounding utterly confused.

“Well apparently they know each other.” Toshi was pondering as he still held his gaze on the table, still visible through window.

“I think the real question is; why they picked table that big. Are they expecting more company?”

“Ou, what if this a double date of some kind. Is either of them know to be dating anyone?”

“Not to my knowledge.”

As they were speaking, the paparazzies suddenly noticed that a third person was standing over the table of the two celebrities. Standing with his back turned towards window, was what looked like a young man with red hair. As he turned around, Koji recognized him immediately.

“That’s Koushiro Izumi!”

“The IT prodigy? What is he doing on this scene?” Toshi wondered.

“Maybe he is looking for investor to one his companies. Perhaps this is a business meeting.” Koji suggested.

That theory was shot down pretty quickly however. Both Yagami and Ishida greeted Izumi with same friendliness they had greeted each other. He took one of the empty seats on the table and started to chat with other two while there still empty seats remaining.

The two reporters hiding across the street started speculating theories on what this meeting was about. Soon however they witnessed another person appearing to the table. Red haired, well-dressed girl walked over the table, causing the three young men to stand up to greet her. Yamato Ishida got especially long hug while Taichi Yagami made apparently some sort of comment that earned him a sideways smirk. Our two paparazzies were even more confused.

“Wait. I’ve seen her somewhere. She was on the cover of one those magazines my wife reads.” Koji was doing a quick google search on his phone.

“Sora Takenouchi, the fashion designer.”

Toshi turned to look at Koji with confusion.

“Okay, so what is this thing? I know people like joke about famous people having secret clubs, but this is just odd.”

“And keeps getting odder.” Koji commented. “Look.”

A new person had appeared on the group. Young man with black-blue hair and glasses. He’s whole being was somehow screaming over-achiever. He truly looked like almost stereotypical young career and study-oriented man, whom by all accounts should have no place nor time to chill at a restaurant in the middle of the day.

“Would you be surprised at this point, if I said that he looks familiar as well.” Toshi asked.

“No.” Koji answered. “Because I know him too. That’s Jou Kido. He made the columns recently by becoming the youngest chief-surgeon ever in one of the biggest hospitals in the city.”

“Well of course he did! I mean, how else. Seriously, what is this? The secret meeting of the illuminati?”

Their pandering was interrupted when they noticed something happening on the other side. Restaurants owner had arrived at the table of celebrities. Oddly enough the owner didn’t seem like she was introducing them to the wine menu. She greeted them happily, laughed to something that Taichi Yagami said. Then she took a seat at the table.

“Is Ms. Tachikawa actually planning to join them?” Toshi amazed.

“This must be quite something if she is willing to sacrifice her precious time for them.”

The two reporters kept watching the exchange going on in the restaurant. They kept trying to guess the meaning behind this gathering, but nothing plausible came to them. Their speculation came to a halt, when two more people showed up to the table. A young couple walked to the table. At first the Toshi and Koji thought them to be fans or maybe interviewers. But the two new arrivals, young man with blonde hair and a brunette girl got almost overly warm welcome from the group.

“So…are we supposed to know who they are?” Koji asked.

“I…have no idea they are. I don’t think they are anybody with a name for them.”

“Should we take their pictures just in case. I mean, what if this weird meeting is some celebrity initiation rite. Maybe the young couple is about become famous.”

“Are you listening yourself right now, tinfoil hat?”

Suddenly there was sound of steps behind them. Both reporters turned around. Rafuru, Toshi’s driver/lacky was walking up to them.

“Hey, are we about finished here or what?” Rafuru asked.

“I honestly don’t know.” Toshi answered. “We are not even sure what we are seeing here.”

Rafuru glanced over to the restaurant window. He smiled confused.

“What? Are you guys stalking teachers now?”

Both reporters turned to stare at Rafuru.

“What do you mean?” Koji asked.

“Brunette standing by table there. She is Ms. Hikari. My kid’s pre-school teacher.”

Koji and Toshi looked at each other completely confused now.

“Any chance you would also recognize the guy she is currently sitting down with?” Toshi asked.

“The blondie? Yeah, actually he does look familiar too.” Rafuru was furrowing his brows. “I think I saw him at the pre-school once. Ms. Hikari introduced him as fiancé, if my memory serves me right."

“Hey, look!” Koji said suddenly.

All three men turned to look at window again. The curtain had been pulled over. They couldn’t see their targets anymore. Opportunity was lost.

“Please” Toshi said “please tell me that you actually took some pictures.”

Koji froze. He realized that neither him nor Toshi hadn’t taken any pictures on what was probably the juiciest set up of the year.

Toshi sat down on the alley. He took a deep breath before talking.

“So, our tomorrow’s headline is going to be what. ‘Twenty-something white collar couple initiated to secret celebrity illuminati. Read the whole one passage story, because pictures there be none.’ We are gonna freaking lose our jobs.”

Chapter Text

Taichi was dialing Yamato’s number. Koushiro would’ve probably been better choice, he thought. Koushiro might actually have some clue on what was going on. But Yamato was Taichi’s best friend, his second in command. It felt natural to talk to him first.

“Hello Taichi.” Yamato’s voice came from the other end of the line.

"Yama! You’re not gonna believe what is happening!”

“Oh, I think I just might.” Came Yamato bemused sounding answer.

“Huh?” Taichi was now confused.

“By any chance, did someone there develop opposable thumbs over last night?”

“What, you're saying it happened there as well?”

“Yeah, both Gabumon and Patamon are…well, humans now.”

“So are Tailmon and Agumon too! You think this is happening to everyone?” Taichi exclaimed.

“We need to call the gang together.” Yamato said.

“Okay. I’ll call Mimi and Koushiro. You call Sora and Jou. Let’s meet at the old meeting point.”

“There in an hour?”

“Okay, see you then.”

Taichi hanged up the phone. He looked over the kitchen table, where Agumon currently devouring breakfast. He seemingly kept forgetting that his mouth was now smaller. Tailmon was sitting at table as well, and judging from her expression, she was currently pondering whether or not to smack Agumon upside his head for pigging out.

“Are we going somewhere?” Hikari asked Taichi.

“Yeah, apparently this is happening to others as well. We are gonna meet others in the park within an hour."
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

After Taichi and Hikari had walked out the apartment with their partners, their parents turned to look each other in the kitchen.

“So, they are humans now.”

“As we saw.”

“But they are just kids. They are legally underage kids, living under our roof. How does this work for us?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, are we their legal guardians now? I mean of course we keep feeding them like before, but do we have roll them to school now or?”

“I honestly don’t know. I think we probably should consult other digidestined parents about this. According to Taichi, they are all in the same situation.”
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Taichi and Hikari we’re arriving to the old park meeting point with their partners. Tailmon was still wearing Hikari’s old outfit with her own gloves. Agumon had Tachi’s old shirt, the same one Taichi had worn during their original adventures, and gym shorts from earlier. Others were already expecting them in the old spot. Taichi had to take breath as he amazed the humanized versions of familiar digimons on the ground.

Gabumon, a boy with white hair looked about same age as Agumon. He was wearing old ripped jeans and white t-shirt. He also still had his pelt, wearing it like a hoodie. Biyomon, looking like girl with naturally pink hair (somehow) was wearing and outfit that was so fitting that it looked almost custom made. Sora’s mother’s doing, no doubt. Tentomon, a red-haired boy with two strings of hair sticking out like antennas, was simply dressed in casual shirt and shorts. Taichi noticed that Tentomon had Koushiro’s old purple sneakers. Palmon’s hair was sticking out most of all former Digimon (and that was saying something). Her hair was multicolored layers, like leaves on heir had been when she was a digimon. Gomamon was dressed in one of Jou’s old school uniforms, and it already looked more worn out than it probably ever had on Jou. His hair an orange mohawk type, reminisced of his look as a digimon. Patamon you couldn’t have mistaken for anyone else. Firstly, his blond hair falling down on back of his neck instantly gave him an Angemon-vibe. This was further advanced by his clothing color; bright blue jeans and a white t-shirt. And finally, his blue eyes, they had the very same look as Patamon’s eyes. Taichi actually smirked when looking at Patamon. In a way, he looked like Yamato and Takeru’s long lost younger brother.

“So.” Said Taichi sitting down among others. “Where do we begin.”
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

A little later, while the chosen were talking, the digi…humans started to explore the park. They were excited for once being able to go around with out having to be accompanied by their human partners. The digidestined had asked Tailmon as the “eldest” of the group to watch over the rest. The whole punch ended at the children playground. Their goofing off moment at the swings and jungle-jim went pretty well, except for two instances. First both Tentomon and Biyomon crash-landed to ground all most at the same time. Both of them having forgotten that in their current state, they couldn’t fly. Tailmon glanced them over quickly and determined that they were fine. Another incident came, when a girl in he early twenties started to give mean looks to Gabumon.

“Is there something wrong?” Gabumon asked innocently.

“Your pelt.”

“What about it.”

“You know furs and pelts like that are really not okay nowadays.” The girl started to ramble. “Some innocent creature lost it’s life so that you could have a “cool” outfit!”

“But this is my pelt.” Gabumon seemed to be completely confused.

“Sure, and where did you get it exactly?”

“Well, I didn’t have anything like when I was smaller. I suppose I just evolved it when I became a rookie.”

“Umm, what?” Now it was the girls turn to be confused.

“Wow, you’re really dumb.” Tailmon chimed in, having her eyes fixed on the girl.

“Excuse me?” The girl turned to look at Tailmon.

“It is light blue fur with navy stripes and purple front claws.” Tailmon pointed out to the girl. “Remind me again, what real life animal has features like that?”

The girl’s face lit up red of embarrassment. She retrieved without saying another word.

“But I don’t get it.” Said Gabumon once the girl was out of ear side. “I have fur like that when I digivolve.”

“You’re a little boy now, Gabu.” Tailmon pointed out. “We all know that humans can’t really digivolve.”

Chapter 7: Lost in time pt. 1

This takes place during the first season episode 9... kind of.

Chapter Text

At a snow-covered piece of File-island, Yamato’s fist flew in to Taichi’s cheek. They were first of the group to reunite after Devimon had split the island apart. Left for just two of them, and their partners, their argument over next course of action had escalated into a fight quickly. Their role in the snow was interrupted however, by small blast in the sky. A dark red energy explosion in the sky caught their attention and they saw something fall to the snow just a close by. Taichi, Yamato, Agumon and Gabumon all ran closer and to their surprise, saw two kids about their age standing up from the blast side. And there also seemed to be digimons with them.

Takeru stood up and looked around for Hikari in the snow. She was already standing next to him. Patamon and Tailmon had apparently made more gracious landings, as they seemed like they hadn’t just fallen through oblivion into snowbank.

“So, where do you think we are?” Hikari asked looking around.

“Somewhere in the digiworld for sure. But I’m not sure exactly…”

“Takeru!” Hikari interrupted “Look!”

Takeru turned and saw two figures coming towards them that couldn’t be mistaken upon. It was their brothers. Usually that would be their older brothers, but right now they looked about same age as them. Clothes they were wearing looked to be same classic outfits they were wearing in their original adventure. And just two of them here in the snow. That would mean…

“Well” said Takeru “good news is that I now know exactly where and when we are. But meeting them, I don’t know if that’s such a good thing.”

“But Gennai told us,” Hikari said “that as long as we don’t do any actual changes to the past, nobody here will even remember meeting us. Because the timelines are out of sync.”

“Let’s hope that’s true.” Takeru shrugged.

“Hey, you guys!” Taichi yelled, as he and Yamato reached them. “Who are you two? And where did you come from?”

“Well…yeah.” Takeru started. Hikari was apparently letting him to do the whole explaining part. “This is now kind of hard to explain.”

“Hey, wait!” Yamato’s eyes had nailed to Patamon who has hovering above Takeru’s head. “Patamon!”

“Hey Yamato.” Patamon chirped happily.

“It is you! Why aren’t you with Takeru!” Yamato was almost yelling.

“Well, I actually am.”

“What?” Yamato was now looking completely lost. “Where…”

“Hey there, oniisan.” Takeru said, giving a little wave by his hand.

Both Taichi and Yamato froze completely, staring Takeru. Yamato’s lower lip was shaking as he tried to find words.

“You…but you can’t…you’re too old…” Yamato was stuttering words out without even blinking as he stared Takeru.

“Yeah, as said, this is kind of hard to explain.” Takeru was tapping the edge of his hat. “But you recognize this, don’t you?”

“That hat. The same hat that dad gave you on the fishing trip.”

“The blast that dropped us here, it was sort of time related. Kind of hard to explain, but basically we are from the future.” Takeru explained.

“Wow.” Taichi said as Yamato just kept staring. “I know this is really unusual, but seriously, dude. You didn’t recognize your own brother.”

“Well looks whose talking.” Hikari laughed, looking at Taichi.

Taichi gave a confused look to Hikari. Then his expression fell. He blinked a few times. And then he gripped Hikari by both shoulders.

“HIKARI!”

“Hey, Taichi-oniisan.”

“Wait.” Yamato looked now even more confused, if that was possible. “Your little sister Hikari? Why is she here at all?”

“Oh yeah, you guys don’t know it at this point but Hikari is going to turn out be the 8th member of the group.” Takeru explained.

“What? But how and why? Why would we want to recruit more people instead of just getting home ourselves? And why my sister? Please tell me it wasn’t my idea.”

“Well actually, Tai, Hikari has been kind of part of the group the whole time.”

“What? No, she hasn’t.”

“Taichi” Hikari said “had I not been sick when you went to the summer camp, I would’ve been with you from the start.”

“It all has to do with what happened at Hikarigaoka four years ago. You’re gonna have an epiphany later once you go back there.” Takeru explained.

“Go back there? Why? You just told it us?” Taichi was even more confused by every passing moment.

“Oh, you’re not going to remember this conversation after words. Or even meeting us at all.”

“What? Why?” Yamato had finally gotten his speech fully back.

“It’s a time thing.” Takeru was trying to come up with easy explanation. “Think the time like a living entity, that doesn’t want to change. It will find away to fixit self. It always does. Some way you guys are going to forget all of this once there is nothing around to remind you.”

“Well, what about if we prevent that.” Taichi asked. “What if we wrote it all down or something?”

“Oh, I wouldn’t recommend that.” Hikari said.

“The thing is that the time really doesn’t want to change.” Takeru explained. “If you try to start change something, you can feel the time fighting back at you. You will find yourself faced with all sorts of random seeming difficulties that keep distracting you. And they will get more aggressive as you get closer to your goal.”

“Besides,” Hikari added “we don’t really want to change time. We just want get back our own time.”

As the kids talked, Agumon and Gabumon had noticed Tailmon standing in the snow next to Hikari.

“Who are you?” Agumon asked.

“You don’t look like your around here.” Gabumon noted.

“I am Tailmon, and don’t worry. You are gonna get to know me eventually. Though it will be a bit of a rough road first.”

The socializing came to halt, when there was suddenly a roar. Snow bursted out from the ground, as a big figure rose into view.

“What? Is that Orgamon?” Taichi yelled.

“I’m not sure. It’s blue.” Yamato yelled back.

“It’s a Hyogamon.” Agumon said. “A mean ice-digimon.”

“This is probably territorial feud.” Gabumon said.

“Okay, do you guys think you can digivolve…” Taichi’s planning was interrupted as Tailmon jumped forwards, toward the angry Hyogamon.

“What is she doing?” Taichi yelled.

“Don’t worry.” Hikari said calmly. “Tailmon knows what she is doing.

With cat-like speed and reflexes, Tailmon dodged the giant icicle, which Hyogamon was swinging like a mace.

“Cat-punch!”

Tailmon’s hit Hyogamon in the middle of the forehead and the big Digimon fell to the snow unconscious.

Tachi, Yamato, Agumon and Gabumon looked between Hikari and Tailmon, quite amazed.

“Don’t be so surprised guys.” Takeru said with a smirk. “Obviously we have a bit more experience by now.”

As Hikari giggled to their brothers’ amazement, there was suddenly a sound behind them. As they turned to look, they saw a vortex forming near the trees. It looked like it was of the same black-red energy as previous blast that had dropped Hikari and Takeru here.

“There’s our chance!” Takeru yelled.

“For what?” Yamato asked.

“We need to get back to our own time.” Hikari explained, as she and Takeru started to run towards the vortex.

When they all reached the vortex, it was already getting smaller. Takeru and Hikari turned to look at their brothers for the last time.

“Look, I know you won’t remember this, but don’t worry. It’s all going to be okay.”

With these parting words, Takeru and Hikari jumped into the vortex with their digimon partners. The energy vortex started to get smaller and smaller, until it disappeared with a small puff. Yamato and Taichi looked at each other.

“So…what do you wanna do after that?” Taichi asked.

Before Yamato could give an answer, there was a roar behind them. As they turned to look, they saw that the Hyogamon had regained consciousness and was now glaring at them from the upper hill. Before anyone of them got a chance do or say anything, Hyogamon stroke his fist to the ground. There was a booming sound as the snow started to fall towards them as mass. Yamato, Taichi and their digimons turned to run but had no luck. The avalanche hit them, and they all rolled down the hill with the snow.
When they got up from the snow at the lower ground, Hyogamon was already gone. Taichi rubbed his head. He had hit it in the crash.

“What just happened?” He asked confused.

“I’m not sure.” Yamato said. “Think we were arguing over there and then there was an avalanche or something.”

They looked for their digimons, but both Agumon and Gabumon appeared even more dazed than them. Taichi rubbed at the back of his neck. Was there something else. He had a weird feeling that he was now forgetting something.

Chapter 8: Lost in time pt. 2

Takes place during Digimon adventure ep. 52

Chapter Text

Daisuke rubbed his head and looked around. Miyako was dusting her clothes. As he looked around, it seemed that they were standing on a small ledge in what appeared to be a hall of a cave.

“So” Miyako started. “We are…somewhere in the past apparently.

“Yes.” Daisuke answered. “But when and where.”

“Well, this has to be somehow digidestined related. That’s what it was supposed to be, right. Mixed in our own timelines.”

Looking around more, Daisuke was glad that the time vortex hadn’t dropped them even a few feet of to any direction. The ledge, that they were standing on, was very narrow, sticking out of the stone wall. Chibimon and Poromon were sitting on the ground, still dazed.

Suddenly, there was a scream and a loud bang. Daisuke and Miyako turned to look down from the ledge. Below them, there was a construction in the cave wall. It had a huge balcony outstretching and currently, two small figures were running at it.

“Look, down there. You see them?”

“Yeah, but who are they?”

Suddenly Miyako spotted a third figure down below.

“Hey, look. Is that Patamon with them?”

“Yeah it is. But how…holy shit. You don’t think that they are…?”

Miyako and Daisuke strained their vision, looking down at the two panicking figures.

“I think they are.” Miyako said. “It’s Takeru and Hikari. Much younger though, this must be during their original adventures.”

“But why is it just two of them? Whom are they running from?”

“Quiet. Let’s try to listen.”

It was hard trying to make out words said below. They could only hear bits and pieces of what was being said.

“We can’t stop now…he got everyone else…sacrifice…rope…”

Miyako and Daisuke saw, as suddenly there was a rope rising from the balcony. Like an old timey magic trick, the rope rose by itself towards sealing.

Suddenly there was a large explosion sound, accompanied by sinister laughter. Both Hikari and Takeru started to climb the rope. Apparently, whatever was chasing them was scary enough to make them forget all doubt. Then Daisuke and Miyako saw the chaser.

“Is that a clown?”

They both looked at the character. A digimon for sure, but neither one of them remembered ever hearing about a digimon like that from any of the older chosen.

“It’s like a something from Stephen King novel.” Miyako said. “The psychotic jester from nightmares.”

As they talked, suddenly there was glowing light coming beneath them. As they looked, they saw Angemon fighting the jester. Patamon had digivolved. But, unfortunately, he didn’t seem to be really much of a match. Angemon fell to the ground below and the jester started to climb the rope after Takeru and Hikari.

“Okay, I know that we are not suppose mess with time, but seriously.” Daisuke said to Miyako.

“Time won’t allow us to make such a radical change.” Miyako answered. “Besides, we know that everyone is going make out this. We don’t have to intervene.”

“Yeah, but you heard what they said. That thing has already taken everyone else out by now. What if they end up winning just because we intervened in way that nobody noticed.”

Before Miyako could argue, they heard a cream. The jester had cut the rope, Hikari and Takeru were falling. They were falling throw the air towards the cave floor.

“Oh no!” Miyako yelled.

“We have to act now!” Daisuke responded.

But before they could do anything, there was another development below. Bathed in golden light, Angemon bursted from the ground. He was digivolving again. HolyAngemon fly throw the air and chough Hikari and Takeru from midair.

************************************************

Daisuke and Miyako stared as huge battle ensured below them. Between the original eight digidestined and their allies against the jester and his troll-looking goons. It was all amazing. Suddenly Miyako noticed something behind them.

“Look.” She pointed to the cave wall. “Another time vortex. We can get closer to our own time.”

“Yeah” Daisuke said slowly. “Let’s go.”

Miyako looked at Daisuke.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

Daisuke didn’t answer, but Miyako was already guessing the situation.

“Hikari and Takeru?”

“Well, it just…” Daisuke was trying to find words.

“I mean, yes, I knew that they had been through a lot together. But this just made it, I don’t know so much more real. Looking at them fighting for their lives like that, when they were so young. Thinking all the stories we’ve heard from their original adventures; I just see those so differently now. I know it’s been kind of stupid for me to the see Takeru as rival for Hikari’s attention, but now it just seems desperate. I don’t know if those two are platonic or romantic in the present day, but obviously I can’t ever even hope to have same level of bond with Hikari as Takeru has.”

“Hey come on now.” Miyako interrupted. “As you said, it’s not competition. We are all friends among digidestined. Hikari is not reducing you two some kind of B-class friend just because she has been digidestined longer with Takeru. And I also don’t think romance is really meritocracy. Hikari will follow her heart. Weather it is you, Takeru or someone else.”

Daisuke looked at Miyako. her words seem to cheer him up at least a bit. Miyako picked up Poromon and started to step through the closing time vortex.

“Oh, and by the way. For what it’s worth, I have always thought your romantic quest for Hikari to be hilariously desperate.”

“Hey!” Daisuke yelled, as he grabbed Chibimon and jumped after Miyako.

Chapter Text

Yamato and Sora were walking on the beach. Their date night was coming to a close. Things weren’t though as romantic as Sora would’ve hoped. Yamato seemed to be thinking something, and Sora could practically see the gears turning in his head.

“Something on your mind, handsome?” Sora broke the silence.

“Yeah, kind of.” Yamato stretched the words as he said them.

“Anything you’d like to share?”

Yamato looked to Sora. His face was serious. Like he had something difficult to say.

“I mean, yeah, this kind of involves you too.” Yamato started. “It’s, sort of bedroom related.”

“What is it?” Sora asked, now curious.

“Look, I don’t want you to take this the wrong way, like I would be tired of you or anything.” Yamato was almost babbling, he sounded nervous. “But I was thinking we could do something different from the usual. As in, there would someone else.”

“You want to have threesome?” Sora confirmed.

“Yeah.”

Sora looked at her boyfriend. He studied the quickly changing expressions on Yamato’s face for a moment.

“It’s Taichi, isn’t it. You want Taichi as a third.” Sora said finally.

“Wha…how did you know?” Yamato looked almost panicked.

Sora smirked. “Because I know you so well, Yamato.”

Sora turned to look forward to the sea. She sighed before she spoke again.

“If we do it Yamato, could I at least get to do more than watch this time?”

Yamato blushed at that. His next words were almost stuttering.

“Sora, what do you mean? We were all together at that bed last time.”

“Yamato, please.” Sora answered. “Compared to the sex you and Taichi were having there, my portion was like a kiss on the cheek.”

Yamato was red as tomato at this point.

“Sora, seriously, we…”

Not that it wasn’t entertaining, mind you.” Sora giggled. “I mean, you two together were truly a sight to be seen.”

Yamato didn’t know anymore what to say. Before he could regain his speech, Sora started to walk towards their parked car. She looked back at Yamato with smirk.

“But yeah, fine by me. Let’s call Taichi to come over at weekend and agree on some ground rules.” She said.

"No, Wait. Hold on, Sora.” Yamato tried to catchup with her. “What sort of rules are we talking about here?”

Chapter 10: Wake me when it's the past.

Notes:

This is a fic idea I've been wanting to test out. Might expand this to it's own fic someday.

Chapter Text

Daisuke was utterly confused. He had been chilling with Ken in the apartment they shared, just spending a lazy Saturday afternoon. Suddenly both of their digivices had gone crazy. They had ha barely a time to glance at them, before a light had shunned out of them so brightly that it had blinded them.

The next he knew, Takeru, Hikari, Miyako and Iori were staring at him, as he laid on the ground.

“Where’s Ken?” Was the first thing out of his mouth.

“Who?” Was Miyako’s respond.

Daisuke was about to continue, when he noticed that something was off. Everyone looked so young. Daisuke looked at himself and noticed that not only was he also looking prepubescent, he was wearing his old digidestined outfit. As Daisuke stood up, he noticed the place around him. This was the digital world, and in his line of sight there stood a black obelisk. A dark tower. It started to make sense now. Daisuke was enough of a video game otaku to realize when a character was thrown back in time.

“So, could you guys tell me -and this is because I’m still hazy, not because I wasn’t paying attention- what exactly are we doing here?”

**************************************

Ken blinked as he looked around. This was his old room at his parents’ apartment. How did he get here? He planned to walk out in the living area. Surely his parents could tell how he had ended up here. But as Ken took couple of steps towards the door, he noticed something. He was small. It was so bizarre, but as turned to look at himself on the room mirror, there was no way around it. He was kid again.

“Master?” There was a familiar voice behind Ken.

Ken turned to look and saw Wormmon on the floor in front of his old computer.

“I’m sorry to come through like this, without your permission, master. But I could sense there was something wrong.”

“Wormmon.” Ken was staring a calendar on the wall. “Is that date correct?”

“I…think so, master. Why?”

Ken took a deep sight. He knew exactly when he was, and it did not make him happy. As he was trying to make plan on what do next, he was most of all praying that Daisuke had been thrown back into this same point in time. He had to be; they had seen the light together.

“Master, is something wrong?” Wormmon seemed nervous that Ken was staying silent so long.

Ken looked down at Wormmon on the floor. Well, first thing first. He knew that there was something Wormmon desperately needed from him. Ken grouched down and carefully picked Wormmon up and hold him in tight hug.

“Master…”

“Shh. It’s Ken, please just call me Ken.”

Ken could’ve sworn he heard Wormmon give a quiet sob on his arms.

*********************************

Takeru and Miyako were watching after Daisuke, as he parted from the Odaiba elementary. They knew that something was wrong. Daisuke had been acting really oddly back at the digital world. He hadn’t been his usual overly excited and erratic self. When they were taking the dark towers, Daisuke had been collective and strategist. Weirdly mature. And the biggest oddity of all; Daisuke hadn’t been all over Hikari, like usually. He had been friendly and supportive, but it was like Daisuke had gotten over his infamous crush in span of a few hours. Both Takeru and Miyako had noticed these differences, but neither seemed to be able come up with possible explanation.

Daisuke was walking with Chibimon towards a certain place in the city. It wasn’t on his home route, but he didn’t care.

“Daisuke, where are we going?” Chibimon asked.

“We’re gonna stop in one place before going home, buddy.”

They arrived at the overpass, where Daisuke had first time talked with Ken, after he had turned away from being the digimon Kaiser (or technically that hadn’t happened yet from his current point of view). They had met there many times after that, on different occasions. It had sort of become their spot. As they arrived, Daisuke saw a figure. Ken was waiting for him.

“You came.”

“You knew where to wait me for.”

Daisuke and Ken hugged each other. Chibimon was watching curiously. He didn’t understand who this new boy was. Suddenly Chibimon noticed something moving behind the boy. There was a digimon there. And Chibimon realized that he had seen that digimon before, just recently.

“Hey! I know you.”

The pieces started fall in the place in Chibimon’s head. As he realized who this unknown boy must be, nothing made sense anymore.

“Daisuke?”

“It’s okay, buddy.” Daisuke calmed Chibimon. “This may be confusing, but I’ll explain later.”

Ken looked at Daisuke. It felt weird seeing him so young again.

“Daisuke.” Ken started. “What happened to us? How did we end up here again.”

Daisuke grinned at that.

“Hey, you’re supposed to be the genius at this time. So, you tell me.”

Chapter 11: Law & Order

Notes:

I know this is short, but I was so excited to have some good writing idea finally that just had to post this.

It's been a while since my last chapter, but now I finally had some fun drapple ideas again. Enjoy.

Chapter Text

In the early of the new millennium, our justice system faced a never before seen challenge, as the parallel dimension known as the digital world and its habitant creatures called digimon became in contact with our dimension. After first crimes involving digimon were document, government of Japan formed a new branch of police agency from the people who had made the first contact with the digital world. These are their stories.

DUN DUN

**************************************

Taichi and Sora stepped out of the car. Couple of uniformed police officers were standing next to a half-burned building. They turned towards the detectives. It was obvious from their demeanor that they were still unsure how to act towards these recently recruited new police enforcement. Or it could’ve been Biyomon and Agumon still sitting in the car. Most regular folks had no experience dealing with digimons and were thus nervous.

“Okay. So, what do have?” Taichi asked the officers.

With one more glance towards his partner, older one of the officers started to explain.

“Incident at the bento aisle of the convenience store. Eyewitness claims to have seen a monster. Figured this might be your alley.”

“Figured right.” Sora said. She recognized claw marks on store floor. “This guy was hungry.”

“Okay. We need to call Koushiro here. He can do analysis on the details.” Taichi looked up to the sky.

“We should have Birdramon do high view looking.”

“On it.”

*****************************************

“So, was this morning another wrong alarm?” Yamato asked as Taichi and Sora walked back to the precinct.

“No, we definitely have real case this time.” Sora answered as she slapped pictures of the claw marks on the white board.

“Koushiro is currently there with Jou.” Taichi explained. “Koushiro is checking the digital imprint and Jou is looking if he can identify the claw marks."

“Just out of curiosity,” Yamato turned to look at Taichi and Sora. “how did the “colleagues” take the situation?”

Taichi and Sora exchanged knowing looks.

“There’s probably still some integration to be done.”

Chapter 12: It wasn't always so easy

Notes:

Been while since I posted anything on this fic. This idea has been floating in my head really long time. Had to get it out.
This one is a little darker than my usual fics. Takes place during ep. 25 of Adventure 02.

Chapter Text

Golemon was destroing the damn. No matter what they had tried to shoo it off, the digimon was still acting maliciously. Trying to cause flood that would both destroy the near by town and probably kill dozen of weaker innocent digimon. The group was becoming desperate. They didn't want to use lethal force. Daisuke had even tried to contact Ken Ichijouji to come help. That had made Miyako uneasy. Were they planning to make Ichijouji the executioner here? They had seen him apparently kill a digimon before, when Armadillomon had digivolved for the first time. It had been shocking thing to see for the group to see, but now it looked like they might have to result into something like that themselves.

But Daisuke couldn't seem to reach Ken. They were running out of time. Golemon was already causing too much damage on the damn. As everyone was trying to come up with an idea, Takeru glanced at Hikari. The two shared an uneasy look. They knew what had to be done. As time was running thin, Takeru and Hikari stepped forward and looked up to Pegasumon and Nefertimon. The two digimom noticed their partners and glided closer to them. They had as well already considered what might have to be done.

Both Takeru and Hikari gave a nod their partners with solem look in their eyes.

"Do it." Takeru whispered.

Pegasumon and Nefertimon turned and flew towards Golemon, who was still trying to break the damn. Using the centurybind attack, they were able trap Golemon. They had used it already once but the digimon had made its way back to the damn in no time. But now, Pegasumon and Nefertimon weren't trying to pull Golemon away from the damn, instead they were lifting up. They rised in the air, trying to get Golemon as high as possible.

"Wow, what are guys planning?" Daisuke asked.

"From that hight, the fall can be truly serious." Iori said.

Before any of them could continue, there was screech. Pegasumon and Nefertimon had released their bind. Golemon was falling down hard. The digimon hit the ground a loud thud. Before the dust could even settle, Nefertimon and Pegasumon fly towards the landing spot and released a combo attack of shooting star and rosetta stone.

"What the heck, guys!" Miyako yelled. "That will. . ."

Miyako's words came to a halt when they saw Golemon stading on the ground below. The digimon was still moving but it didn't look the same anymore. About half of its skin seemed to have peeled off, revealing a black and metallic looking body underneath. It looked unatural.

"What on earth? How can a digimon be like that?"

"That's because it's not a digimon." Everyome turned and saw Palmon standing next to Mimi.

"What do you mean?"

"It's not a digimon, it's a dark tower." Palmon's words shocked everyone. "Believe it or not, I saw it with my own eyes. There was a woman, who transformed a dark tower into Golemon."

"In that case," Daisuke turned around and yelled at their digimon partners. "everyone, it's not a real digimon. It's a dark tower, so don't hold back."

That was all that they needed. All digimon lashed out on full and the fake Golemon was destroyed in a matter of minutes.

"That was good work on everyone. But we still need to figure out how some mysterious lady could've turned a dark tower into a digimon." Mimi said.

"Yeah. Though one other thing I don't understand," Miyako turned towards Hikari and Takeru. "how did you guys figure out it wasn't a real digimon?"

Neither Hikari nor Takeru answered. They just looked at each other, trying to figure out what to say.

"You didn't know, did you?" Iori said. "You went in for a kill, while still thinking it was a real digimon."

Takeru and Hikari didn't deny Iori's words.

"You mean you guys were actually ready to. . ." Daisuke began but was interrupted by Takeru.

"Look, guys. It's been a long day and a lot has happened. Let's meet again tomorrow and talk about this then. Okay?"

Without an another word, chosen of Light and Hope started walking towards nearest TV with their partners. Other chosen followed after them. They would surely have an interesting conversation on the following day.

                                                           ******************************************************************************

"So, the long awaited situation finally happened." Taichi said.

It was evening at the Yagami household. Takeru and Hikari had found Taichi, Yamato and Koushiro waiting them there. Mimi had apparently texted them as soon as they were back in the human world.

"There was no choice. Lives were at stake and Golemon was not backing down." Takeru said.

"Were not judging you." Yamato assured. "Everyone here knows we wouldn't have a leg to stand on."

"You acted on the situation, just like we always did bac in the day." Taichi said. "The real issue seems to be, that this incident really took the cat out the bag with the junior league."

"As difficult as the whole kaiser business was, the evil rings really kept it like a game." Yamato said. "They haven't yet truly been where we were back in the day."

"What will we say to them tomorrow?" Hikari worried. "We promised to talk about what happened today."

"Be honest." Koushiro said. "It's going to be difficult conversation, but they are your team mates, so you own it to them. And just giving an honest explanation is the bes approach here."

"Just know, if it gets unpleasant or even ugly, we'll always be at your corner." Taichi affirmed.

                                                         *********************************************************************************

The next day, Daisuke, Miyako, Iori, Takeru and Hikari had all gathered at Takeru's place. The athmosphere was somewhat anxious.

"So," Miyako began. "about yesterday."

"Okay, guys," Takeru began. "I want you to understand that we didn't act on impulse. But it seemed the only option at the situation. Put back on the moment, we'd do it again."

"But. . . You guys would just kill a living digimon?" Daisuke sounded unsure and confused. "Like, you guys didn't even talk or hesitate."

"It wasn't the first time." Hikari said quietly.

Everyone turned to look at her.

"Back during our original adventures, you've heard some of the stories." Takeru said. "All those evil digimon. Devimon, Etemon, Vamdemon or the Dark Masters. What do you think happened with them? How do you think we won?"

No one answered.

"We killed them. We killed them all."

"Patamon first digivolved to Angemon to destroy Devimon. Tailmon became to Angewomon in order to kill Vamdemon at Odaiba." Hikari said.

"And not just them. Other evil digimon who worked for them too. Minions like Phantomon, Bakemon, Raremon or Death Mela-mon." Takeru's voice sounded hard. "All those 'monsters' they kept mentioning in the news at the time. They were running on rampage in Japan. Innocent people were in danger and we had to fight them. We were the only ones who could."

"I. . . I never thought about that side of the story." Miyako said. "I mean, I obisously knew you guys won at the end, but at awhat cost."

"It wasn't always this easy." Takeru said. "When we first ended up in the digital world, we had know idea where we were or would even ever make it back home. We spent months in a hostile enviroment fighting for mere survival. And our enemies came after us and wanted to destory us for jusr excisting."

"And when I joined the group, the stakes were immediately high." Hikari continued. "Vamdemon and Dark Masters did not just continue what digimon before them had done, they were coming after human world as well."

Hikari took a short pause.

"We were children, who were trusted upon the fate of two wolrds, with no questions asked."

"And it didn't go without an emotional price." Takeru said. "We always understood the value in digimons' life. Not only by our own partners, but many of our digimon friends that we lost in the battle."

"Like the ghost in Fuji-tv building?" Iori asked.

"Wizardmon, yes." Hikari bit her lip.

"Piccolomon, Leomon, even. . ." Now Takeru bit his lip and held a breath. Hikari knew that he was about to mention Angemon. But it was still something Takeru wasn't fully capable to talk about. Even among friends.

Daisuke, Miyako and Iori stayed quiet. They all realized how easy their adventure had been compared to what had went down three years prior. To them, being a digidestined had been almost like an after school activity. They always knew that at the end of the day, all of them would get to go back home to their families. Their mission had always been winning the enemy in his own game, fighting the digimon had meant realizing them form Kaiser's controll. They had never even entertaint the idea that Ichijouji would try to seriously harm them, not to mention kill them.

This changed the way they saw the older kids. It also made them dread what the future of being digidestined might have in store for themselves.

Notes:

So, yeah. I feel like this conversation should've probably happened somwhere in the second ark of Zero Two.

Chapter 13: Who are these guys?

Notes:

So, this is just some little fun I wrote as a follow-up to the original adventure. Happens before Zero Two would, and somewhat contradicts it.

Chapter Text

As the 7th grader Yamato Ishida walked through the school doors, many younger students moved out the way. Ishida had a somewhat intimating reputation at school. He was seldom seem smiling, and he had a sort of bad boy and a lone wolf image on him. He wasn't known to cause any major trouble at the school, but with his leather jacket and the piercing blue eyes, many students took caution.

Ishida wasn't known to participate in any after school activities, which made some people, especially members of the sports teams, to have suspicions about him. And right now, Ishida was walking down the hallway, right pass the school's soccer team. The players were currently laughing at something their captain, Taichi Yagami had told them. As Ishida walked closer, one of the soccer players nudged others. Taichi Yagami's sight also went up to the approaching figure. Soccer players were curious. They knew that Taichi and Yamato had been on the same class in the elementary school. They also had, in common, that they were both strong-willed and quick tempered. Seeing their captain's reaction now, the team wondered if some sort of confrontation was about to happen.

Just as Ishida was walking past them, Taichi raised his other hand towards him and called his name.

"Yo, Yamato."

Without even looking at his direction, Yamato grabbed Taichi's hand with his own and gave a friendly squeeze. As the blond continued to walk away from them down the hall, Taichi yelled after him.

"See after school today?"

"Sure." The other boy replied, without even looking back.

The rest of the soccer team was confused. Apparently, Yagami and Ishida were not only friends, but close ones at that. They all wondered when this had happened, since the two boys didn't seem to hang out much at school.

                                                                                                                      _ _ _

A fifth grader, Miyako Inoue, was walking down the hall towards the school computer lab. She was supposed to meet up with Koushiro Izumi, the president of the computer club. Miyako idolized Koushiro for his genius with computers. Also, Miyako couldn't help but admire the confidence Koushiro carried himself with at school. Most boys would be afraid to get labeled as nerds, but Koushiro wasn't shy to let his intelligent and skill shine.

As Miyako got to the computer lab, she saw Izumi standing at the hallway by the door. And he wasn't alone. Miyako frowned a bit, when she recognized the two older boys in Izumi's company. The middle schoolers, Taichi Yagami and Yamato Ishida, had somewhat of a reputation to themselves. Seeing how the two older and taller boys were positioned on both sides of Koushiro, Miyako had to wonder if she had walked in on a some type of bullying act. Koushiro didn't look a bit distraught, however. He was explaining something to other boys, while showing his laptop screen. The older boys seemed satisfied. As Koushiro finished, they thanked and padded him on the shoulder.

"Thanks, Koushiro. You're a real lifesaver."

"It's not really that difficult, Taichi. I could easily teach you to do the same."

"Koushiro, we've been over this. The things you say to be easy are never easy for me."

The older boys chuckled as they left. Miyako walked up to Koushiro.

"Hey, Koushiro. What was that about?"

"Taichi and Yamato? They just needed my help with something."

"They are not making you do their homework, are they?" Miyako asked, worried.

"Psh." Koushiro rolled his eyes. "I've offered to help them both with homework multiple times. But their stubbornness, which they call 'bro's honor' makes them refuse to take help from me, until in the final distress."

"You're, like, really friends with them?" Miyako sounded unsure.

"Yeah, we've been friends for years."

Their talking came to halt by the noise from the other direction. Miyako turned to see a group of girls coming down the hallway. They were led by Mimi Tachikawa, a girl from Koushiro's class and probably the most popular girl in school. Tachikawa was currently explaining something to other with her usual loud and cheerful voice. Miyako thought she and Koushiro would wait for the loud group to pass, but to her surprise, once Mimi noticed Koushiro, her face light up even more than before.

"Koushiro!! Long time no see."

"Don't we see each other daily? We're on the same class, you know."

"Class doesn't count." Mimi pouted. "You can't have meaningful chats in the class."

"Meaningful chats?" Koushiro raised his eyebrows.

"Yeah. You know, like. . ."

Mimi leaned in to whisper something in Koushiro's ear. Miyako didn't hear what she said, but Koushiro's face turned bright red all of a sudden.

"Don't be absurd, Mimi." He mumbled.

Mimi smiled like a cat that has just spotted a mouse, before continuing with her group down the hall.

"See you later, Koushiro."

Koushiro turned towards the computer lab's door, without even realizing how surprised Miyako looked.

"Alright, Miyako. Let's get started."

"Who even are you?"

Koushiro turned back to look at Miyako. "Pardon?"

"I always thought you were an average computer geek, like me. Now suddenly it turns out that you have some sort of blood brothers relationship with two of the most notorious middle schoolers, and you casually flirt with the school's queen bee."

"We were not flirting." Koushiro was getting red again.

                                                                                                                     _ _ _

Mrs. Tanaka had been a teacher for decades, but somehow these kinds of conversations never got easier. She was waiting to a parent of a relatively new pupil, to inform them that their child was getting bullied. A knock on the door let her know that the visitor was here.

"Ms. Takaishi? Glad you could come."

Natsuko Takaishi sat down. She had been a bit surprised to get a call from the school. It was only recently that she had been able to move to Odaiba and transfer Takeru into Odaiba elementary. What on earth could be the trouble so soon.

"You are probably wondering why I called you here." The teacher took a big breath. "I think your son might be bullied."

This caught Natsuko by surprise.

"It was after classes yesterday. I was working and noticed, from a window, one of the older students seemingly giving Takeru a hard time on the school yard."

Natsuko took a deep breath. This sounded bad. Her first instinct was to call Yamato. He would surely look after Takeru, now that he had a chance. Heck, one word from Yamato, and probably most of their little friend group would gladly take turns to help.

"I understood you knew who the other student was?" Natsuko asked Mrs. Tanaka.

"Yes, and that's what worries me. You see, it was an older student. A middle schooler named Ishida."

"Wait," Natsuko interrupted. "Are you talking about Yamato?"

Now Mrs. Tanaka was surprised. "Yes. You know Yamato Ishida?"

Natsuko felt truly relieved at the moment, and the teacher noticed that.

"Yes I do. You see, and this may come as a surprise, but Yamato is also my son."

"Excuse me, what?" Mrs. Tanaka was sure she had just misheard.

"Yes. You see, Yamato's father Hiroaki is my ex-husband. He is also father of both boys."

"I see." Mrs. Tanaka answered.

"The contact info for the boys hasn't yet been updated in the school records, otherwise you'd see it there."

"Very well, I suppose you can settle the issue privately, then."

"Oh, I doubt there is anything to settle." Natsuko said. "Yamato and Takeru are very close and care about each other. They were probably just horsing around a bit, they really tend to get excited of living close to each other again."

"If you are sure, then. I'll just leave this to you." Afterwords, Mrs. Tanaka always remembered this as one of the most surprising parent meetings of her career.

Chapter 14: And they say that Taichi is the oblivious one.

Chapter Text

Koushiro was nervous. He was on his way to see Mimi. They had been spending a lot of time together lately, and Koushiro had enjoyed it. In fact, his earlier suspicion was right; he was developing some very deep feelings towards Mimi. They had known each other since they were 4th graders and ended up in the digiworld for the first time, but it wasn't until they were teenagers that Koushiro started to notice some... things about Mimi.

Like how much there was about her that you didn't notice at first. Or how nice it was to have her around. Or how much he missed her when she moved to U.S. Or... how cute she really was.

Koushiro hadn't first been sure about his feelings. This was all a completely new territory for him. After realizing his crush, Koushiro had been really uncertain what to do next. At first, he had been dreading the idea of approaching Mimi. She would never be interested a guy like him. He had also been scared of what him confessing might do to their group dynamic.

But now he had been spending more than usual time together with Mimi recently, just the two of them. And it had honestly been really nice. Mimi seemed to like hanging out with him too. So, now Koushiro had decided to make a move. He was going to ask Mimi out on proper date. Let her know that he likes her more than just as friend.

And the setting was perfect. They had gotten ice cream and were now sitting on a park bench. Koushiro took breath.

"You know, Mimi," The girl turned to look at him.

"I've been thinking about us hanging out recently, and there's something I wanted to ask you."

Mimi turned to face Koushiro fully now.

"I... really like you, Mimi. I mean more than as a friend. I mean, were friends with everyone of the digidestined, but with you, I think I want to be more than just a friend."

There was something odd about Mimi's expression, Koushiro thought. He was starting to lose his confidence. Better get it all out fast.

"What I'm saying is, I want to date you. And I'm asking you out on real date," Koushiro finished while keeping an eye contact with the girl.

"Kousiro, you're asking me out," Mimi said. "Like, on a first date?"

Mimi had a smirk on her lips. Koushiro thought he could hear what sounded like suppressed laughter in Mimi's voice. Oh god, was she about laugh at him.

"Y-yes," Koushiro responded.

Mimi lowered her face. Her shoulders began to shake a little. She was laughing! Mimi raised her hand on Koushiro's shoulder. She then looked at confused boy right in the eyes.

"Kou, sweety," Mimi said with almost trembling voice. "We've been dating for over a month now."

"Wha-at?" Koushiro sounded like someone had just told him that the internet had been shut down for good. "You mean, each other?"

Mimi couldn't hold it in anymore. She let out a high pitch laugh.

"Yes, you genius. We've been going on dates with each other for over a month."

Mimi had get hold her breath before she could continue.

"You suddenly wanted spend time with me just the two of us. And you took me to all sorts of nice places to spend time. Do you know how dating works?"

"But, we haven't been doing anything that speacial," Koushiro, now completely lost, said. "We've been just going to lunches, and seeing that movie you wanted, and hanging on malls..."

"Koushiro, what do you think people do on dates?"

Huh.

"Oh, I'm going to have to keep an eye on you," Mimi said, pulling the boy into a hug. "You might end up having an affair without realizing it."

Koushiro felt really confused. But, in a good way. Hmm, a new feeling.

"You know," Mimi said to the boy's shoulder. "When you started talking all nervous there, I really though you were planning to go for our first kiss."

Koushiro was pretty sure his heart just skipped a beat. He was trying to find words, when Mimi suddenly pulled away and looked him straight in the eyes. She had both her hands on his shoulder's now.

"Hey, for which ever you were going to ask, my answer is yes."

She then pulled their faces closer and pressed their lips together.

Wow. I might be more than a bit dense, but maybe I'm not as hopeless with romance as I assumed, Koushiro thought to himself.
