When Do You Get the Rush of Euphoria?

Chapter 5

Notes:

I'm sorry to get you hooked on these quick updates, but school starts this Wednesday (>< it's too soon) and I haven't even thought about it so the next update might take a while.

I wasn't planning on publishing this chapter, but then the curiosity took over and I just went ahead on an impulse.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Taehyung doesn't know what to think when he's slung over a siren's shoulder and then plopped in an uncomfortably tall wooden chair across a tiled counter. He doesn't know if he'd fallen asleep or gotten knocked out, but he woke up two minutes ago and now he has to shit.

"I have to use the bathroom." is all he gets out, his mouth parched and dry. The siren (who was uncomfortably attractive, Taehyung notes painfully) slumps his shoulders and frowns at Taehyung, like Taehyung was his maid that told him he just quit.

The siren points to a hall (there were so many corridors in this useless penthouse). "Ok then." Taehyung gets out, sliding off the chair slowly and then backing away, his eyes on the siren at all times. The siren didn't look bothered however, scrolling through his phone as he sat himself on the counter.

Taehyung enters the hallway, and there were about six rooms. Glancing back, he realized the siren was going to be of no help. Not that he wanted him to be, anyway. He'd like to get the fuck out of his mess, but his hands and legs were cuffed together by some unusually strong chains.

There was a smiley face sticker on it that read 'Namjoon-proof' below it, whatever that meant. A flash hits his mind. The siren, this siren, was Namjoon. That's what he had confirmed last night, when he was looking for Seokjin.

Ok, so that was a memory he remembered.

He opens the first door, hoping he's not interrupting anybody's privacy. On second thought, he hopes he does. There's only one fucker that lives here, damn all sirens that live in penthouses. Shouldn't they live closer to the ocean?

Well, they are close to the ocean, he notes as he opens another door, this one having a window that depicts the large body of water that was bordering this part of Busan. Taehyung had a strike of homesickness, memories of Daegu.

Yoongi.

He needs to get back.

Finally finding the bathroom, he sighs as he waddles in (an unfortunate consequence) and locks it, before staring at his reflection. His hair was all disheveled, his lips were dry and cracked, and his eyes looked dead.

Sounds about right.

He uses the bathroom and then attempts splashing water onto his face, a little awkward the with the chains clinking annoyingly. There's no towel (could sirens just manipulate the water off of them?), so Taehyung has to 'shake' the water off. The chains make annoying sounds.

Finally he gets out, a little water still dripping down his chin and fingers and moves back to the kitchen, his eyes scouting around for some way out. He'd make an attempt to run, but considering the last attempt hadn't gone so well and it was in a public space, how far could he get chained in an unknown penthouse?

He shifts back to the seat, and with some difficulty (though the siren didn't offer to help), gets back on the seat.

"Hi." Is all he says, hoping that maybe the siren wasn't a siren, maybe he was a human, and because Taehyung had a drink last night he had just chosen to get knocked up instead of leaving, and these chains were because the human was into some kinky shit. A real wild night.

Or maybe, even better, the fact that he was still alive right now was because Namjoon didn't plan on killing him.

Namjoon looks up slowly, his eyes just black pools that seemed to stare right through Taehyung in a condescending way. A tsking sound, and then he was sighing, pocketing his phone and folding his arms, eyes boring into Taehyung. No warmth, no light, just two black holes.

No big deal.

Namjoon then shifts, and Taehyung's mouth falls open in an audible gasp as he watches the siren's fingers sharpen and scales grow across the sides of his neck, his elbows, and across his wrist, almost like accessories. The scales were pitch black, but they seemed to shift to a cerulean blue when the light would hit them. Namjoon brings his finger up to his mouth and then feels his teeth, that Taehyung realizes are similar to his fingers, a top and bottom row of incredibly sharp teeth.

The siren's body in question seemed to have gotten a little bigger in size, not that it was needed because Namjoon was already a ripped muscle pig before he shifted. It was almost like he was showing off. Taehyung felt his lips quirk upwards at the the thought of the siren doing something so...human.

"You screamed a lot last night," Taehyung wonders what context that was meant in, "please don't." Taehyung watches the siren talk, the way the language seems to be unfit for his teeth. It was nightmare inducing also, the way his voice was low, a lot similar to Yoongi's but different at the same time, raspy and low-pitched, scratchy and ancient and- alluring.

Alluring. That was it, wasn't it? This was a siren, someone who lured people in and ate them. It might not sit on rocks and lure in sailors, but it definitely still did the same. Here he was, sitting there in siren form, hideous teeth and fingers (the scales were intimidatingly pretty, Taehyung'll give them that) and scratchy voice, but yet still attractive.

Taehyung could feel his mind urging him to kiss him. He knew that would be a sure bite of death, literally.

"Do sirens have their own language?" Taehyung asks instead, not wanting to pursue the thought any longer. He was still alive. Namjoon seems to be irritated at something. "Why is that the first question?" It feels unnatural and odd, just like it had with Jimin, the way he talks.

Jimin. Pfft.

Taehyung's found a better siren. One that has kept him alive. Take that, loser. And Seokjin. Seokjin, how was he doing? Taehyung had felt no guilt because Jin had said he had no importance in virginity, but now that Namjoon was a siren, Taehyung felt kind of betrayed and empathetic. At least Seokjin would learn that you didn't love a monster, because they couldn't love you back.

"I need to keep you alive for two weeks, because then it's Namjoon's birthday and I'm shipping you off, but until then, what do you need to live?" Taehyung blinks, taking in the question. "Aren't you, Namjoon?"

The siren squints. "No. I'm not. I'm...Hoseok?" Taehyung's jaw drops a little. "But...you said you were Namjoon yesterday." The siren pinches his eyebrows to remember, his tongue darting out to his lips.

It's a little longer now, and Taehyung thinks he saw scales on the underside of it (probably to protect it from the teeth?), but otherwise human. Taehyung doesn't know what he'd do if it were forked like a snake. Probably shudder.

"Ah, that. I was trying to find Seokjin, a friend of mine, who by the way, did end up losing his virginity. He's not that mad about it, but he is iffed at you." Taehyung snorts, much to the siren's amusement and then dread sets in. "You're friends with him?"

The siren nods, watch Taehyung's mind churn. "You're also friends with..." He swallows, hoping against all odds. "Jimin?" The siren pauses, his nails tapping across the tiled counter, and Taehyung watches the pointed fingers that looked like hard stone but still curved fluidly like a snake. He wondered if it could break the tile.

"You know Jimin?" The siren hisses out (non-threatenin- well, as non-threatening as anything a siren could do anyway. Taehyung doesn't think it's supposed to be threatening, but Taehyung also thinks that Hoseok is really, really attractive.).

"Are you friends with him?" Taehyung presses, because he's not spilling his story if this siren ends up friends with him and then hands Taehyung over to Jimin to eat. He's already planning to shipping him off to this asshole 'Namjoon' (who is also human?? Possibility that Seokjin had fallen in love with a human?!), he wouldn't have trouble handing him over to Jimin.

"I asked first. What is your relationship with Jimin?" The siren's hand was pointed towards Taehyung now, his fingers still tapping the marble in a discreetly threatening way? "I..uh...asked him out for dinner?" Not a complete lie.

Namj- Hoseok narrowed his eyes. "But you are dinner." Taehyung's jaw dropped. "That's what he said!" He blurts out before he can stop himself, and he slams a hand to his mouth, the other hand gripping his first hand because they were still chained together. He hopes Hoseok won't connect the pieces.

He sees the gears turning.

"So Jimin tried to eat you?" Taehyung gulps. "If I say and yes, can I never have to see him again?" Hoseok shakes his head. "If Jimin attacked you with the intention of dinner, you wouldn't be here right now. What happened?" Taehyung doesn't want to say. If Hoseok knows this much, then it was clear that they were close.

Sighing, the siren took his hand, his pointed ones lacing with Taehyung's, something that looks like a human gesture of comfort, but yet so awkward and unnatural. Taehyung looks at the interlaced hand, running his thumb over the back of Hoseok's hand, watching as the skin doesn't move, like solid stone.

Fuck, was this Twilight? He yanks his hand back like it was on fire.

The siren watches him with an amused smile, one where his lips curl to show his teeth that have Taehyung remembering the way Yoongi would go down on lamb skewers, teeth evident.

"But really," he says in his voice that seems to come from Taehyung's nightmares. "what happened?" Taehyung swallows (kind of a mistake, his mouth's still dry and parched). "If I said that Jimin was planning on saving me for later, would you send me back to him?"

Hoseok stares at him long and hard, unreadable.

"Is that why you were with Jin? You were...ah...waiting to get eaten?" Taehyung fumbles with the chain between his two hands, his feet feeling cold out of his sight. "Uh, yeah. Jimin was going out with some siren named Jungkook who was apparently going to eat me viciously if he found me. Seokjin told me to hold my breath so I wouldn't be found. Is that true?"

He seems to startle Hoseok with his question. "Is what true?"

"That you can hear my breath, even if I was in a different room." Hoseok narrows his eyes. "You sure have a lot of questions about sirens."

"And you haven't answered one of them." Taehyung says back, equally confident now that the siren was keeping him for the next two weeks. As far as giving him to Jimin goes, Taehyung thinks the way the siren's jaw has set says something. He hopes, anyway.

"I'm not giving you back to Jimin," the siren says finally. "but if you cause trouble for the next two weeks, I will." Taehyung wrinkles his nose at Hoseok. "And why wouldn't you just eat me?" Hoseok snorts. "I don't think you've realized. Sirens eat humans. We are above you, on the food chain. We are predatory creatures, and we like a hunt. Eating you would be an insult to my physical prowess."

"That sounds so ominous." Hoseok leans closer, his fingers once again rhythmically tapping on the marble. "And why is that?"

"Your voice!" Taehyung squeaks out, clearing his throat when his voice jumped a few octaves. "Uh- I didn't mean for that as an insult, it just- it's creepy? Like a snake's hissing? But ancient and powerful? But grumpy? Somewhat like my hyung's voice, but a lot raspier? Oh wow that was so much like an insult I'm sorry-"

"Feel free to shut up."

Taehyung's jaw slams back up, even though it wanted to do the opposite at the rude tone. Although, he supposed worse could've happened.

The siren scoffs. "Jimin's going to find you. But..." Something must've snapped in Hoseok, because all of a sudden he was giving Taehyung an intense look, his eyes catching Taehyung and holding them. Taehyung could feel his hands getting clammy as something close to butterflies erupted in his stomach.

"I can make it so he can't hurt you."

Taehyung licked his dry lips. Something hazy was threatening to take over, he could feel it at the edges of his mind, but it wasn't. He had to take a second, wait for his mind to dispel the magic before he could think straight. "You tried to charm me." He says plainly, disbelief in his tone. He thought some kind of bonding had happened.

"And it didn't work." Hoseok mirrored back, disbelief in his tone.  "Next you'll tell me I can't hurt you either."

Taehyung was already edging away but the siren lunged, the wood painfully splintering under him as Hoseok tackled him to the floor while he was sitting on the chair. Taehyung yelped and groaned in pain, which escalated to a shriek when he felt multiple siren teeth sink into his shoulder, icicle-like teeth burying themselves to the gum on the front and back of his shoulder.

There was a moment of silence with his heavy breathing (borderline hyperventilating) while he ugly cried, fat tears rolling down his cheeks while he sobbed from the pain, the fear and sadness of inevitable death as he got eaten by a siren.

All the siren had to do was clamp down an inch or two and then Taehyung's shoulder would be missing a huge chunk. Another fat sob escaped him as the siren raised his other hand from Taehyung's waist to other shoulder to still his chest and keep him from moving.

Slowly, the siren retracted his teeth, pulling them out which resulted in a whimper from Taehyung.

Blood gushed out the wounds, which resulted in cursing from the siren. Taehyung couldn't hear it, a loud ringing was buzzing in his ears, and his vision was getting blurry from the tears. He could faintly see Hoseok on the phone with someone, before Hoseok's eyes widened as he knelt down, picking Taehyung up from the stomach and wincing when Taehyung let out a painful gasp.

"Could you be a little quieter?" Hoseok questioned, but there wasn't much meaning for it, Taehyung could barely care anyway.

Hoseok took him over to one of the sofas, sitting him upright although Taehyung wanted to lie down and face his death slowly. Hoseok nodded at something, getting off the phone to turn back to Taehyung.

He was saying something, probably to Taehyung. Taehyung watched him tear-filled eyes, not able to make out what he was saying. Hoseok moved Taehyung as gently as possible, although Taehyung couldn't feel his hands, barely feel the movement.

Hoseok situated him onto his own lap, teeth going back in for the bite. To finish eating him. Taehyung whimpered, his hands trying to push the siren away, but the siren was gripping him firmly.  A hiccup escaped him.

"It hurts." He cries out to himself, more tears falling as his shoulders wrack in shudders.

He can't see what happens neck, but he feels a mouth latch back onto the bite, but his body can't tense anymore. Hoseok wraps a hand around his waist and pulls him so that they're chest-to-chest, Taehyung going pliant from weakness.

Instead of teeth, he vaguely feels a tongue darting around, catching the blood that was heavily trickling out and sucking on it harshly. Taehyung cried out once more, wishing he could go numb from the pain.

The tongue runs over the deep marks made in his skin, and Taehyung feels his eyes run out of tears to use, his throat going dry but snot still threatening to fall out his nose from how hard he's crying. It hurts, it hurts so bad, the searing pain embedded into his mind as teeth sank into him, now a tongue poking at the deep holes.

The last thing he remembers is the pain.
