Aizawa had never really been one for Christmas.
It’s not that he hated or disliked the Christmas season, it just wasn’t his favorite time of the year and in all honesty, it wasn’t his favorite holiday either.
He did like the cold weather that came with December. He liked that he could wear black without sweating through his clothes, and he liked that he could wrap himself up like a burrito when he went to bed.
It just wasn’t his cup of coffee.
At least that’s what he believed until the chaotic students that made up Class 2-A came to be under his guardianship.
That first Christmas with them, when they had been Class 1-A, had been the first time that Aizawa had actually celebrated Christmas since he left home.
It had been insane and chaotic just like everything else that they did when they were together.
There had been a mess in the kitchen from making cookies and Christmas dinner, there had been a mess in the living room from the opening of presents gift wrap had been thrown about after a paper war, and if Aizawa remembered correctly there had been hot chocolate leaking from the microwave since mugs had been overfilled multiple times.
Despite all the extra work that Aizawa had to do to get the dorms back in order he honestly wouldn't change it for anything in the world since it truly had been one of the best nights of his life. He knew good and well that that was a strange thing to say but he honestly had never been sober and smiled so much or laughed so hard before at least, not since his Graduation from UA all those years ago.
He knew that this Christmas would be no different from the last as he stood at the kitchen window and sipped the hot chocolate from the black cat mug he had been given last year as a gift. It had been shoved into his cold hands the moment he walked into the dorms as his students ran outside to play in the snow.
Aizawa shook his head as he remembered how he had shouted to them all to dress warm and to not stay out for too long. He had become such a dad since his kids came into his life and though he would never admit it out loud he didn't mind not one little bit. Especially not when becoming a Dad had helped him become closer to Eri and helped her to trust him.
He smiled at the thought of his daughter watching as she and Midoriya were busy building a lopsided snowman. He waved to them both as Eri spotted him in the window and threw both her hands up to wave at him. Aizawa hid his smile in his cup as Midoriya did his best to keep her steady since her action had startled the young man who when he got a good hold on the little girl once more waved at him.
Aizawa raised his mug to Midoriya as a response to his wave which seemed to make the young man smile even more.
Aizawa couldn't help the chuckle that left him as Eri began to decorate Midorya's hair with snow after looking from him and then back to the snowman. Aizawa could only guess that the reason Eri did this is that she thought that the snowman needed a friend.
As he let his eyes wander to his other kids his smile only seemed to grow more at seeing some of them having a snowball fight while others were making snow forts. He took note that Dark Shadow had forced Tokoyami to make Snow Angels alongside him and Tsu who was bundled up to keep her safe from the cold.
Aizawa made a note to turn the heat up for her so she wouldn't feel sluggish when they all came back inside for dinner.
At that thought, Aizawa finished his hot chocolate and washed it out in the sink before turning around to gather the things he needed to make dinner for his kids. He thought about how something with a warm soup or broth would be best during the cold weather.
Aizawa took one more look out the window and smiled at the sight of his kids all having fun in the snow without a care.
Aizawa knew that as long as he had them and the others he loved then Christmas might just be his new favorite holiday.
