Daisy

Summary:

Prompt: what if Izuku had a devil quirk instead of an angel quirk? How would this change his first meeting, aka his match with Shiozaki? There's a lot of flirting, for one.

This is an alternative universe to my story, The Symbol of Hope, and directly related to my story Spider Lily.

Notes:

Hello! I hope you like it, DerangedDeceiver!

I was listening to Daisy by Ashnikko so that's where the title comes from.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

There was something seriously wrong with UA High School. As a child, Ibara Shiozaki was cautioned against the presence of the devil and his evil minions by her pious parents. The small, cute little vine-headed girl couldn’t fathom the fact that evil was allowed to exist alongside those of the righteous, but she was told that ‘that was how it was’ and all she could do was to resist the darkness when she saw it. While it took time for the young girl to set mutation quirks aside, she was pretty proud of herself for learning to see the good in most people, devilish looks aside. After all, it was the actions of people that showed their evil, not their appearance… right?

But when she first saw Izuku Midoriya in the Sports Festival, winning event after event, the vines/hair on the back of her neck was standing at end.

The boy who was the same age as her couldn’t be anything other than a demon. His hair, a dark green, was tinged with black at the roots. While her vine hair was due to her quirk, she was sure he dyed his hair like some kind of delinquent. Those emerald eyes of his glowed acidic when there was a hint of darkness shadowing him and the slit pupils made her feel tiny when they were aimed anywhere remotely near her direction. Those freckles couldn’t be anything more than a ploy at his innocent, seemingly plain appearance, but she knew better. The boy utilized the power of darkness against others and she almost fainted when he sprouted wings with black, burnt looking feathers that were sparse in some places, as if the purity was burned away from sin.

In addition, he had several ear piercings marching up the shell of his ears (was it pointed at the end…?) and even a small silver ball piercing underneath his lower lip. She just knew that under those plump lips were pointy canines, because when he smiled, she could only sense a thirst for blood. She was almost disappointed that he didn’t have classic demon traits like a set of horns or a long, thin tail with a barb at the end, but who knew what else he was hiding under that uniform?

It was both her downfall and her misfortune that she had to fight him next in the Sports Festival, but who better than a servant of the light to confront the demon? Perhaps he could be given salvation.

She stood across the arena from him, vine-hair standing at attention. Present Mic announced their match with his usual enthusiasm. “IN THIS SECTION, WE HAVE THE ASSASSIN FROM CLASS 1-B! IT’S IBARA SHIOZAKI! ON THE OTHER SIDE, ALSO FROM THE HERO COURSE, IT’S THE DEVIOUS DARKNESS USER, IZUKU MIDORIYA!!!!!!!”

“I am not an assassin!” Shiozaki felt defensive and also offended at that comment. “I merely wish to deliver salvation onto others!”

“I’M SORRY! START!”

Midoriya’s burnt, black feathered wings sprouted immediately from his back, making chills run down her spine. Those pupils seemed to constrict slightly before dilating, elongating the slit in the center. For some reason though, he didn’t attempt to attack. “Hello darling, I don’t think we’ve met before.” That voice was like velvet caressing her skin, but it felt so wrong. “I’m Izuku Midoriya.” He offered a hand out and Shiozaki felt like a woman possessed as she walked forward and placed her hand in his without her permission.

The boy, no, man in front of her smiled, showing off fanged canine teeth before placing a gentle kiss on her knuckles and Shiozaki’s mind blue-screened as a strangled-sounding scream slipped past her lips. “INCUBUS!!!!”

Her vines finally came to her aid and grew rapidly in length before attempting to swat him out of the way. Midoriya backflipped away from her and jumped into the air with supernatural strength and agility, letting his wings catch the breeze in the arena, floating him lazily above her. “Well that wasn’t very nice.”

“You… deceiver! You demon!” Shiozaki sent vines after him, but no matter how much she tried he dodged everything she sent his way. Even when she attempted to trap him, he phased right through it.

“Now now, Shiozaki-san. I’m hurt you would call me such names. Just because my quirk is Fallen Angel doesn’t mean I was born in hell, you know. You can ask my mother, she spent a few days in the hospital after I was born.” Midoriya inspected his nails for dirt before sending some black feathers blitzing her way. With the help of her vine shield, she was safe… until they burned a hole through her shield and pulled her down as they pinned her pant legs and torso to the ground.

Unless she wanted to rip her clothing off her torso and lower body entirely, she was stuck. Midoriya landed on the ground on her left side. “Ready to give up, little daisy?” Those eyes seemed to dance with glee as he took in her position on the ground.

“Never!!!” Shiozaki’s arms were free and she ripped off a rosary she had on her arm before lassoing it onto his neck. Simultaneously, her vines pulled out a vial of holy water she always kept on her person and splashed it onto his face. “Face the power of our holy father!” She hoped it would hurt him just enough that she could escape, but to her utter astonishment, it did absolutely fuck all.

Izuku’s face was wet and some of his spiky bangs stuck to his forehead. His eyelashes were waterlogged and clumpy and he seemed completely taken aback. He looked down at the rosary on his chest, then back to the girl on the ground next to him. “The fuck? Did you just try to exorcise me?”

“...Yes?” Shiozaki’s heart dropped in her chest at the grin that started to appear on his face.

“Oh dear. We’re going to have a problem aren’t we?” Izuku ripped off the rosary, shattering it with hands infused with dark strength. The dark flame that formed in his hand then rapidly dried his face and hair without burning him. Shiozaki felt a lump in her throat grow rapidly and her heart sank in its chest. He ran his left hand through his hair, allowing it to spring back into its usual spiky position. Those eyes seemed to glow a little more intensely and Shiozaki was ready for the lord to take her now. “You know, it’s awfully rude to assume things about someone you just met. That’s quirk discrimination, you know.” He stuck his tongue out at her childishly and Shiozaki was ashamed to admit she thought it would be forked like a snake or something.

“Hmm. Too bad. I was hoping we could have more fun but our audience is calling me.” He dissolved his black feathers pinning her down by willing them to disappear. Shiozaki would have attacked him then, but she screamed as a hand made of darkness, not unlike the claws of Tokoyami’s Dark Shadow, was summoned by Izuku and it swooped down and picked her up. She was utterly terrified and no matter how much she struggled she couldn’t move.

“What… are you?” She dared to ask.

“Who, me?” Midoriya walked closer and those wings of his almost seemed to grow bigger and longer… or maybe she was that intimidated. “I’m 15 years old, born and raised here in Musutafu. My mother makes delicious katsudon, that’s my favorite food, and I’m here to prove that villainous quirks don’t define those who want to be heroes. What are you, little daisy?” That smile got wider and wider and those eyes glowed even more. He felt like teasing her just a little more. “What’ll happen if I pluck one of your petals?”

Shiozaki had had enough at the flirty/threatening comment and promptly fainted.

Midnight walked over and glanced at the collapsed girl, then over to Midoriya, who looked more like his usual self. All smiles but no teeth showing this time and his wings dissolved into nothing. “Shiozaki has fainted and is unable to continue! Midoriya wins!”

With that flick of her whip, Izuku walked Shiozaki over to the stretcher waiting by the medibots and released her onto the stretcher gently. He made sure she was safe before heading up to the stands where his friends awaited him.

He met Hitoshi before he made it to their section. “Oh, hello Hitoshi-kun. Did you miss me?” Those eyelashes fluttered a bit and the purple haired boy felt his eye twitch a little at the comment even as a blush spread across his face. Even though they had known each other for months now, Hitoshi still couldn’t quite get over the shorter boy’s flirtatious nature.

“What did you talk about? That was the most one-sided match I’ve ever seen, and you spent most of it talking.”

“Oh that? Shiozaki-san seems to think I’m the devil. She even splashed me with holy water too.” Izuku rolled his eyes and smoothed some hair behind that slightly pointed ear. “I told her it was rude to judge someone based on their quirks.”

Hitoshi could understand that, after it was one of the reasons they bonded so quickly as friends. ‘So she pissed him off.’ “She looked pretty scared of you. Is that all you said?”

“Hmm, more or less. Why, are you jealous?” Izuku practically teleported into Hitoshi’s personal space, making him step back as heat blazed from his cheeks. A hand caressed the side of his face, tracing those sharp cheekbones. “You know I only have eyes for you, right violet eyes?” Izuku’s eyes were glowing like those fluorescent green glow sticks and Hitoshi’s knees felt so, so weak.

“I’m not jealous,” Hitoshi tried to deny it but he had it bad for the little devil. He tried not to look at his face because he knew if you stared at those slit pupiled eyes long enough, you became totally entranced. He wasn’t sure if it was a part of Izuku’s quirk or just the fact that Izuku knew how to manipulate people… himself included, but he didn’t mind that much.

“Oh?” Izuku withdrew his hand and pouted. “Maybe I’ll go play with Iida-kun and Kaminari-kun then.”

He was about to walk past the taller, lavender haired boy but Hitoshi said hesitantly, “wait.”

Izuku turned and smiled. “Yes Hitoshi-kun?”

“Stay with me.” Hitoshi didn’t even need to command him, Izuku would always do whatever he wanted. ‘Hitoshi-kun is so cute,’ he thought, taking in his love’s presence and drinking in every line and curve of his body.

“Always. Let’s go get some nice seats in the back.” Izuku leaned on his tippy toes to whisper into Hitoshi’s ear, pulling him down a little to give him easier access. “I’m hungry .”

If Hitoshi had a fire quirk, he was pretty sure he’d be covered in flames right now. “L-lets get you some food then,” he mumbled, half-hoping the connotations he noted were correct, half-slapping himself inwardly for the dirty thoughts.

“Oh Hitoshi-kun… you know that’s not what I want.” Izuku tapped those soft, slightly chapped lips of the other teen with his pointer finger. “I’ve been thinking about these for a while. They look good enough to eat.”

If Izuku was truly a devil from hell, Hitoshi was ready to bow down and kiss his feet. Maybe that’s why Shiozaki fainted. Most of class 1-A practically worshipped Izuku now, so how could anyone resist that face?

Maybe that was why Shigaraki was cursing Izuku from Tartarus.

And if Shiozaki caught the two of them making out on her way back from Recovery Girl’s temporary office, she certainly wasn’t going to tell anyone how it made her heart race. Midoriya had the audacity to wink at her before she ran away, all thoughts of saving Shinso’s soul gone. He was clearly out of reach, if those little marks on Midoriya’s shoulder were anything to go by. All she could do was pray, before she too, was lost to the darkness of those bewitching eyes.
