If You Say So

Summary:

Four years after graduation, Beca finds herself living out her dreams in LA. But something is still missing. Has that missing piece just stumbled back into her life, or will she have to accept that they've both moved on?

Chapter 1: Prologue: Four Years Later

Chapter Text

Forbes 30 Under 30, Hollywood & Entertainment #12: Beca Mitchell

Atlanta-native Beca Mitchell possesses a staggering track record for musical success, even prior to her national debut. The 26 year old led her college a cappella group, the Barden Bellas, to claim three consecutive national titles, as well as a World Championship victory. Having elevated tracks from Snoop Dogg, Brendon Urie, and many more to chart toppers, there’s no telling what the young producer might do next.

Forbes Magazine: Beca, congrats on joining the ranks of Forbes 30 Under 30, it's much deserved. Your star has been on the rise since releasing the universally loved Jessie J single, Flashlight. What would you say was your inspiration for the track?

Beca Mitchell: Thanks. Honestly, Jessie was a fantastic partner on that project, a delight to record with, and it was exciting to be able to take the song to where it is now. I want to say, however, that the single — and my career — would be nowhere without the help of an old friend who worked with me to create the original demo.

FM: Is this friend in the industry?

BM: Not that I know of. We lost touch shortly after I graduated from college.

FM: That’s a shame. Hopefully seeing your music go platinum is good closure for you both.

BM: I don’t know. I suppose it’s up to them.

FM: Well, onto bigger and brighter things. Can you tell us about any future projects you have planned?

BM: I’ll never not have something in the works, but over the next few months I’m actually hoping to cut back a bit and do a bit of a creative reset. It never hurts to go back to your roots.

FM: Anything you’re hoping to gain from that, specifically?

BM: Other than my sanity? [Laughter.] Yeah, I mean... Hopefully I’ll come back with the next big thing.
