Summary
“Stick with me, okay?” Beca suggests gently, some part of her understanding Emily, the urge to prove herself and the little feeling that’s no doubt taking hold in the back of her head that whispers she doesn’t belong.
“I didn’t know it would be this hard,” she admits quietly. “I mean, who knew that ripping off gold pants was so much work.”
The comment makes Beca smile. “Definitely not me,” she assures, confused slightly by her own demeanor — usually her and Chloe’s roles are switched, but this unmistakeable care for Emily is too compelling to ignore. “Just… try not to get in Chloe’s way, okay? I know it’s probably an excuse you hear a lot, but we’re under a lot of pressure, so don’t ever feel like it’s you, dude.”
“Thanks, Beca,” Emily says earnestly. “I appreciate that.”
“Anytime.”
