CHP 1
Katsuki knew something was up the second he felt a fluttery feeling deep inside his stomach. so he was not surprised when he found himself out of breath gripping the toilet bowl with pale knuckles.
He felt as if his lungs were on the verge of collapsing, and the rapid beating of his heart which felt as if it would never slow the fuck down was definitely not helping.
when the small room finally stopped spinning, and Katsuki managed to catch his breath he reached for his phone which he had hastily discarded, somewhere in his room, during what was practically an olympic fucking dive to the bathroom earlier.
he was faced with what he supposed was the cause of the sudden symptoms and panic, which were still clingy slightly onto Katsuki as he regained his composure, a shitty snapchat.
It was sent to him by raccoon eyes, Mina, the same person who practically begged him to download the shitty app in the first place.
the snap itself, was simply a barely blurry pic of Mina and Kirishima, the sides of their faces pressed together as they grinned and held up sloppy peace signs. Katsuki could almost see the pure happiness radiating off of the snapchat picture, and it was disgusting. The picture wasn't anything abnormal, not at all, but something about it had made Katsuki feel sick.
He trained his eyes onto Kirishima, his hair was down and messy, his cheeks were lightly dusted in pink, and his smile was insanely big (as per usual). Katsuki felt the beginnings of the fluttery feeling prickling in his gut again and swiftly shut off his phone, deciding it would be better just to go to bed than risk another of .. whatever it was that happened before .. starting up again.

chp 2
--
katsuki wanted to avoid Kirishima.
even though he was the closest thing Katsuki had ever had to a best friend, every bone in his body was telling him to avoid him. Because Katsuki couldnt deal with the fluttery feeling, the light headedness, and the breaths that caught in his lungs everytime he saw Kirishima.
Katsuki knew it would be imposible to avoid the red head, imposible not only because Kirishima seemed to constantly be around him, but also because Katsuki simply enjoyed the company of his friend.
--
When Katsuki awoke on saturday morning, his first thought was fuck. He was supposed to meet up with Kirishima today.
Thinking about it made him almost want to puke, but he swallowed the thought and pulled himself out of bed.
It was a cold morning, the windows of his dorm were frosted over and the air was crisp. Katsuki was never a big fan of the cold. Something about it left a bad impression on him, maybe it was the annoyance of having to wear so many layers, maybe it was the slushy off-white snow that sometimes lined the streets, or maybe it was the temperature itself. Katsuki didn't know nor did he really care.
Katsuki rummaged through his drawers for a sweater he could quickly pull over his sleep wear, before tossing himself back onto his bed.
he was almost about to drift back into sleep when a loud buzz sounded from his phone. Groaning, he reached over to his bedside table to grab his phone.
10:17 AM, the time read, and bellow it a text notification from none other than Kirishima.
Katsuki unlocked his phone and went straight to messages, narrowing his eyes to read the message;
Shitty Hair:
Good morning bakubro! we still on for today?
The two hadn't seen much of each other that week, between midterm preparation and all the other shit that comes with being in college, they simple hadn't had any time to hang out.
Katsuki wasn't too upset, with all the new mixed feelings and odd symptoms, he was almost glad he didn't didn't have to be near the red head that week. But a "hang out", was definitely due, and Katsuki kinda missed his friend.
With a sigh he typed a message back;
Blasty:
morning shitty hair, & yeah we're still on
Shitty hair:
great! see you soon then :D
Katsuki cringed at the butterflies threatening to start up in his stomach, and shut off his phone.
He didnt know how he would manage to survive today.
---
Katsuki still felt cold, when he stepped out of the dorm and onto the streets of the town, even though he was wearing 3 layers and a beanie. He could see his breath cloud up in front of him, and could feel his cheeks warm up after being hit with the cool air.
He walked in silence through the city, looking around for the cafe Kirishima asked to meet at for breakfast, supposedly only a few blocks away from campus.
When he finally found it he immediately jogged in, annoyed at the cold weather. The warmth of the café and the smell of coffee in the air, made him feel a little bit better.
Katsuki looked around the small cafe, sitting down at a random two chair table when he didn't see any sign of Kirishima, and pulled his phone out of his back pocket.
He mindlessly scrolled through instagram, and then twitter, barely noticing when a red head plopped into the seat in front of him.
Katsuki looked up from his phone screen and was immediately met by a radiant Kirishima, looking bundled up with his hair tied back.
"Hey Bakugou! Sorry I was a little late." Kirishima said sheepishly, smiling wildly at him.
Katsuki blinked, trying to force down the blush he felt creep onto his skin. "It's ok dumb hair, I wasn't here for long."
Kirishima simply smiled again, before starting up, "Did you order, yet?"
Katsuki shook his head.
"Let's go order then." He said while standing up from his seat. Katsuki followed and they made their way to the front. Luckily there was no line.
Kirishima smiled at the barista, "Hello! Could we get a medium hot chocolate and uh.."
"Medium black coffee." Katsuki pipped up besides him.
The barista nodded and began placing their order, "Alright, will that be all?" she said.
They nodded, thanked the barista, handed her the money, and moved over to wait for their drinks.
"I don't know how you can enjoy plain black coffee." Kirishima chuckled at him.
Katsuki rolled his eyes at the comment, "It tastes good, you're just weak."
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, bro."
Katsuki turned his head away from the red head, he felt warmth on his face and weird twisting in his gut. Kirishima spoke up again, making him turn back to face him.
"How's studying for midterms been going? I cant believe they're coming up so soon." He sighed, before regaining a smile, "We should study together again sometime! I miss doing that."
Katsuki hummed, "Yeah, we should." He couldn't tell if he meant it or not, studying with his friend was usually a pain as Kirishima always needed help with assignments and would get distracted constantly, but he couldn't deny that the "study sessions" were pretty fun.
Kirishima went to say something else but the barista calling them to grab their drinks cut him off.
Once they were seated, he didn't hesitate to start up with his usual pointless chatter and conversation. there were so many subject changes Katsuki could barely keep up, something about a classmate setting a text book on fire during a chemistry lab, a dog Kirishima saw while walking to the cafe, and a other random details about his week.
Katsuki occasionally added to the conversation, responding with snarky and witty comments, asking a question or two, or saying something about his week aswell. he enjoyed their conversations, Kirishimas stories were always interesting, and it wasn't hard to feel entertained by the red head. But today Katsuki felt distracted.
Kirishima looked soft and warm, and Katsuki kept catching himself think about how nice a hug from him would feel at that moment.
Fuck.
--
They stepped out of the cafe when they finished their drinks, tossing them into the nearest trash can.
"Should we go to your dorm, Or do you wanna do something else?" Kirishima asked while they walked, nudging him with his shoulder.
"I don't care."
"Alright, then let's just head back to your place, maybe watch a movie?"
"sure."
"Yay!" Kirishima gleamed, throwing his arm over katsukis shoulders, "ooh, can we watch Megamimd?"
Katsuki scoffed, "The one about the fucking blue dude? Fuck no."
Kirishima gasped, bringing a hand up to his mouth, "Don't disrespect megamind like that Blasty, it's a classic."
Katsuki rolled his eyes, it was gonna be a long day.

CHP 3
katsuki's dorm was pretty bland.
Not even the sparse posters taped onto the walls gave his room much life, and the way it was always spotlessly clean didn't help much either.
But when Kirishima was in the room, Katsuki swore it felt a little more like home.
"Pay attention! you're missing the best part!" Kirishima whisper-yelled at him, nudging him with his shoulder.
"There is no best part. this movie is ass."
"Then cope," Kirishima looked away from the laptop to face his friend with a grin, "I like it, so you have to suck it up and watch it too."
Katsuki snorted and averted his gaze away from the red head besides him, trying not to pay attention to the fact that they were so fucking close.
Katsuki never agreed to lay strewn across his bed watching Megamind, of all things, with Kirishima, yet the second they'd gotten into his room he absent mindlessly reached for his laptop and looked up the shitty movie. He was uncertain why, but Kirishima seemed to have a talent for making him agree to things easily. And now his shoulder was pressed up against Katsuki's
"This sucks."
"Jesus Christ bro, shut up!" Kirishima said with a mix of laughter and threw a pillow directly into Katsuki's face.
"You wanna die, shitty hair?!" Katsuki grinned back and threw his own pillow at Kirishima. The situation quickly escalated into an all out pillow fight, the movie long forgotten, until even the pillows were discarded and the boys were wrestling on the floor.
Katsuki felt euphoric, like sunshine and pure joy was radiating off of him. Being around Kirishima made him feel euphoric. The banter, the play fights, the practically useless conversations and the rare emotional ones, they all made him feel euphoric .
Katsuki was practically lost in the euphoria, and he was sure Kirishima was too. He was drowning in the laughter, in the incoherent yelling, in the wide smiles; Or maybe he was floating in it.
Katsuki's breath caught in his throat as Kirishima pinned down his wrists to the floor, straddling his waist and grinning madly in between a fit of laughter.
Never mind. Katsuki was definetly drowning.

CHP 4
First it was the butterflies, next it was the familiar warmth across his face, the racing of his heart, and the discomfort in his chest.
Katsuki needed to throw up.
"Get off me."
Kirishima's laughter subsided, "What?"
"I said get the fuck off of me."
The red head quickly untangled his body from Katsuki's and shuffled off of him, "What's wrong?"
The second his wrists were free and the weight was off of him, Katsuki practically bolted into the bathroom, hacking into the toilet bowl.
"Woah, bro! Are you ok?" Kirishima stepped into the bathroom behind him.
"Obviously not." Katsuki growled in between fits of coughing.
"Are you sick? Do you want me to get you water?" Kirishima kneeled besides him, placing a hand to his back.
"Fuck off!" Katsuki snapped his head to look at him. The red head looked concerned, understandably considering Katsuki probably looked like shit. His hair was all tangled and messy from the wrestling, his face was pale, and his eyes had started to water because of how tightly he had shut them. "Just leave me alone, Kirishima. I'm fine."
Kirishima's hand slipped off of Katsuki's back, while he stood up again slowly off the cold bathroom floor. He gave his friend one last look full of worry, "Alright.. If you need anything just call me, ok?"
"I know."
kirishima hummed. "Feel better Bakugou." And with that he was gone.
Katsuki didn't process the fact that he was alone, uncomfortably coughing into the toilet, until he heard the click of the door closing.
Fuck.
Katsuki felt stupid as he tried to be mad at the redhead, his efforts proving fruitless as the only thing he could think about was how fucking guilty he felt for practically kicking the latter out.
He dragged himself off of the floor and crawled back into bed.
--
Katsuki was awoken by knocking at his door. He opened his eyes slowly and adjusted his sight to his now dark room, he must've slept through most of the day.
He almost had forgotten about the knocking until it suddenly started up again, startling him into getting out of bed to open the door while mumbling under his breath.
His eyes met with Kirishimas. He looked nervous, holding a plastic bag in his arms. "Hey bakugou, you feeling any better?"
Katsuki blinked. ".. yeah. A little." He opened the door wider allowing Kirishima to step inside.
"I brought you dinner! Did you eat any lunch?" Kirishima said setting the bag down on Katsukis desk, pulling out two tuba-ware containers from it.
"I haven't eaten. I've been asleep."
"I noticed," Kirishima chuckled, passing one of the containers to him, "noodles. The spicy ones you like."
Katsuki hummed and grabbed the container from the red head, who then tossed him a pair of chopsticks wrapped in a paper seal. Kirishima liked to save all the extra utensils he got each time he'd order take out, which came in handy for situations like these.
Katsuki sat on his bed and began to eat, while Kirishima stayed at his desk, sitting down on the chair and opening up the container he had brought for himself.
"Im glad you're feeling better." He said in between mouthfuls of food.
Katsuki nodded while he ate, looking away from kirishima & instead through his window.
"Do you know what made you feel sick?"
Katsuki swallowed, and turned to blankly look at his friend, who was already facing him. "It was probably just the cold."
It was Kirishimas turn to nod and look away, silence filling the room as they both ate.
"Thanks for bringing me dinner." He mumbled, just loud enough for the red head to hear.
"Oh! No problem bro!" He smiled softly at him, before finishing up his container of food and stuffing it back into the plastic bag he'd brought with him. Katsuki soon followed.
"Oi, Kirishima." He nudged his friends foot to get his attention.
"Hm?" Kirishima looked at him, his smile blinding as always.
Katsuki stood and thought for a second, staring intently at the red head before deciding to continue, "Do you want to stay and watch a movie or something."
Kirishima grinned, "'course, i'm guessing not Megamind."
"Fuck no." Katsuki snickered, turning to pick up his laptop from off the floor, where they had left it earlier in the midst of their pillow fight. He tossed himself onto his bed and motioned for Kirishima.
Katsuki was unreasonably calm while his head was resting comfortably on Kirishima's chest. Sometime into the movie, Kirishima had noticed how the other boys eyes began to flutter closed and repositioned the too so Katsuki wouldn't have to fall asleep sitting upright.
Maybe it was the tiredness diluting his ability to properly process what was going on, but the blonde hadn't felt the annoying sensation in his stomach, or the tightness in his lungs; he simply felt warm resting on Kirishima, barely listening to the quiet old disney movie playing from the laptop sitting on his friends stomach. He wondered, as he was lured into a state of drowsiness, if Kirishima was still paying attention to the movie, or if he too was drifting off to sleep.

Chapter Text
Katsuki couldn't help but wake up when he felt the warmth beside him start to fade, Kirishima must have been leaving.
He kept his eyes closed, and his breathing low as he listened to other shuffle off of the bed. Katsuki tried not to feel upset, but when the practically human fucking heater was no longer pressed up besides him, he felt cold. cold and alone.
A hand ran through his hair softly, it was Kirishimas. With a small sigh his hand was untangled from the blondes hair, "Goodnight, Bakugou."
Katsuki kept quiet until his friend was opening the door, "Night, Shitty hair."
With a light chuckle, Kirishima left the room.
silence.
Usually Katsuki longed for it, longed for the peace of being by himself. But tonight, being alone felt pretty fucking shit. Katsuki no longer longed for silence, he longed for-
Oh no.
--
Katsuki could no longer fall asleep. His sheets felt to warm, the room felt small , and his bed felt too big.
Instead he stared up at the uninteresting celling, basking in his new found revelation.
Kirishima made him feel different. He made him feel a certain way in which none of his other friends, if even that, ever had.
Could it be a crush? Katsuki didn't know. He had never had a crush before, or at least he didn't think so. Sure, he had found some people attractive, and hell he especially found the red head attractive. But that doesn't necessarily mean he likes him in that way. Right?
Katsuki groaned and peeled himself out of bed. It was late, way too late for him to be up but his fruitless attempts at going to sleep were enough to make him unable to care.
The blonde dragged his feet through the halls of the dormitory; He was looking for the kitchen, Katsuki liked the kitchen.
He was basically the only person in the dorms who could cook without risking the entire building burning down, so he was usually the only one to be in there for longer than a few minutes.
Katsuki opened the shared cabinets, wondering if anyone had cared to restock them this month. Once he finally found what he was looking for, a bag of doritos, he turned to head back to the dorms.
"Isn't it way past your bed time?"
Raccoon eyes was leaning on the door frame, looking at him quizzically, "What are ya doing up blasty?"
"I could ask the same to you." Katsuki scoffed at the girl in front of him.
"You know I love a good midnight snack," She grinned at him, before making her way to the fridge, "couldn't sleep?"
He hummed.
"Something on your mind?"
"I didn't ask to be fucking interrogated pinky." He ripped open his bag of Doritos, growing impatient with Mina's questions. He came here to stop thinking about the situation, yet here was raccoon eyes unknowingly reminding him of it all.
Mina closed the fridge door with her hip, holding a yogurt cup, giggling "Watch the sass, drama queen." She pulled out a spoon from one of the counter's drawers and seated herself on one of the cabinets. "So, why couldn't you sleep?"
Katsuki rolled his eyes, stuffing a chip into his mouth before responding, "I dunno, probably just stress."
Mina laughed, "Wow, the Bakugou admits to being stressed! What a night."
"Die."
"You love me," she paused to eat a spoonful of yogurt, amused at the annoyed boy in front of her, "What's got ya stressed, midterms?"
He reached into his bag of chips again, "maybe." he mumbled before taking a bite.
Mina nodded, finishing up her cup of yogurt, "You'll do fine, you've always been the smartest out of all of us.
"I know."
She looked up at him with a smirk on her face, Katsuki didn't like it when she smirked, it always meant she knew something he didn't.
"So there's something else, huh," she quipped, getting up to throw out the now empty cup, "something else that's got you stressed."
Katsuki felt the need to scream as he watched the girl toss the spoon she used into the dish washer. He was stuck in thought, continuing to eat from the small bag of doritos before he was finally out. ".. can I ask you something?"
"Of course."
He paused. Butterflies occupied his stomach as red hair suddenly filled his mind. He hated it. He hated it but he knew he should ask, Mina was his friend for a reason.
"How do you know if you have a crush."

Chapter Text
Katsuki stared at his blank phone screen. He wasn't sure what he was waiting for, but he found himself unable to pry his eyes away.
It had been about a week since his late night talk with Mina, which the blonde couldn't help but relive in his head every few hours, and he hadn't really spoken much to Kirishima at all.
He felt bad about it, sure, but Katsuki had too much on his mind to hangout with his friend. He couldn't deny though that he could barely think of anything other than Kirishima.
Katsuki clenched his jaw, finally unlocking his phone and heading straight to messages.
Blastsy:
oi
The blondes fingers hovered over the screens keyboard, considering wether or not he should send another message. He felt as if he was going to be sick. It was aggravating to be nervous over something so simple as texting a friend, but Katsuki couldn't help it. He was even starting to grow used to it.
The ding coming from his phone shot him out of his thoughts.
Shitty hair:
hey blasty :D
what's up!
Blasty:
bored
let's hangout
Shitty Hair:
right now ???
Blasty:
duh
Shitty Hair:
ok yea! i'm free :>
just give me a sec to get dressed
Blasty:
k
i'll be at ur door in a few
Shitty Hair:
see you soon! <3
What the fuck. He thought as he reread the last message an embarrassing amount of times. Kirishima had never sent him a heart before, or at least, Katsuki had never put this much thought into it.
He ran a hand through his hair before shutting off his phone. The stupid heart was making his head spin to much, and the blonde was not in the mood to get dizzy over a text.
He pushed himself off of the bed, throwing on a random black hoodie and shoving his feet into the boots by his door, before leaving for Kirishimas room.
Katsuki stared at himself in the reflection of his phone, maybe he should've brushed his hair before leaving, or put on some eyeliner? He shook the thoughts off of himself before knocking on Kirishimas door, "Coming!" The other quickly responded from inside.
He was probably rushing to get ready, Katsuki snorted, "Hurry up, dumbass."
After a excruciating second of waiting, the door finally opened to a smiley redhead, "Hey Bakugou! What'd you wanna do?" He said, closing the door behind him and standing besides Katsuki.
"I dunno," he replied, as they began the walk to the elevators.
"We can just walk outside then, it's a nice day!"
"In the cold?!" Katsuki groaned, of course that would be Kirishimas suggestion. He should've warn warmer clothes.
"Yup!" The redhead laughed as they shuffled into the elevator. "Aw blasty, you afraid of a little bit of cold?"
"No, I just hate it."
"You hate everything."
Katsuki opened his mouth to rebut, but the other quickly cut him off, "Except for hanging out with me, of course!"
"You wish."
Katsuki couldn't lie, he did enjoy spending time with Kirishima, fuck it was practically all he wanted to do. Conversations with him just came so natural, not to mention the laughter. But those familiar feelings of a twisting gut and fluttery stomach were enough to make Katsuki wish to avoid being around the other.
He felt like he was much too aware of his surroundings like the grinning redhead besides him drumming his fingers on air, the way his shoulders brushed up against Katsukis, and how the elevator felt as if it was slowly getting smaller.
Finally the doors opened and the two exited the dorm building.
"Woah! It's snowing!" Kirishima beamed, grabbing a hold of the blonde's wrist before running out into the falling snow, dragging a blushing Katsuki along with him.
"Slow down dumbass!" he yelled out, to which Kirishima responded with laughter. Katsuki couldn't help but giggle himself, the redheads pure joy was just to contagious.
disgusting.
Katsuki tried not to pay attention to the others hand around his wrist as he trailed along behind him, but his efforts proved fruitless as the blush across his face only continued to spread.
When his wrist was finally freed from Kirishima's grasp, he was almost disappointed, but his friends soft smile as he squinted looking up into the snow filled sky was enough to grant him forgiveness.
Kirishima was pretty , It's not like Katsuki hadn't noticed before, he just had never put so much thought into it. As he looked at the redhead's sharp jawline, slightly puffed out cheeks, and small grin, he almost felt thankful for his newfound infatuation for making him so aware of his friends good looks.
Katsuki snapped his head away, slightly embarrassed at his thoughts, and took to looking at the sky as well.
Although he had never been a big fan of the winter, snow fall was always a nice sight to see. yet he still couldn't help but grow annoyed at the stinging sensation of cold air hitting his face, and the way he could see his breath in front of him.
"Ya think it's gonna stick?" Kirishima pondered out loud, shuffling over to stand in front of the other. "I hope it does! Maybe we'll get a few snow days!"
"What do we need snow days for, winter break is about to start." Katsuki rolled his eyes.
"Extra days out of school never hurt anyone!"
"You're dumb enough as it is."
"Hey! That's only because you haven't helped me study recently!"
They laughed together as they made their way off of campus. Katsuki barely noticed how close they were walking until their knuckles had brushed against each other a couple times, and their shoulders had started bumping.
"Speaking of winter break, do you know what you're doing?" Kirishima started up again.
Katsuki peered over at him before nonchalantly responding, "the old hag has been bothering me about visiting, so that's the plan."
"Have you missed being home?"
The blonde shrugged, "Not really, I mean with their busy schedule and studying it's hard to find a good time to visit. It's not like I don't miss them, but it's just nice to be away sometimes."
They fell into a short lived silence until Katsuki broke it with a short question, "What about you?"
"Hm?"
"Are you going home for the break, shitty hair?"
"Nah," Kirishima sighed, "my parents are going on vacation so there's really no point."
The blonde nodded, "So you're staying here? Won't you be bored?"
"I'll just text and bother you the whole time!" He laughed, nudging the other with his shoulder. Katsuki nudged him back, resulting in a slight stumble and more grins and giggles from Kirishima.
It was then, in all the shoves and laughter, that Katsuki realized just how much he had missed hanging out with the redhead, even though it had only been a week since he last saw him. He felt comfortable around Kirishima, comfortable in the playful banter and hysterical laughter, in the red hair and the arm thrown around his shoulder. He almost felt too comfortable, enough to want to interlace their fingers or play with Kirishima's hair and throw a kiss or two on his temple.
Oh shit. I have a crush on Kirishima.

Chapter Text
"No phones at the dinner table, you're technically an adult I shouldn't need to remind ya still!" Mitsuki yelled to her son from across the table.
Katsuki groaned, being home for break meant dealing with his mother's constant yelling which, although he had grown accustomed to it over the years, still gave him the occasional obnoxious headache. He chose not to respond to his mom with his usual snarky response, as he was instead fully indulged in a random conversation with Kirishima over text. The red head was definitely not lying when he said he would spend the break "bothering" the latter, which had proven to be a great source of entertainment for Katsuki throughout what would normally be a boring winter break.
"Katsuki!" His mother snapped again, obviously trying to gain his attention which was completely fixated on his phone, "I don't get how whatever you're doing on that phone of yours could be more important than a family meal!" His father who usually chose to be uninvolved in his wife and son's "arguments", nodded at that.
"You've practically spent you're entire visit on your phone," Mitsuki continued, "texting your girlfriend or something!"
"I'm n- girlfriend, what?! I'm just texting a friend I don't get what the big deal is?!" Katsuki was getting annoyed, his mom just loves to assume things. As he glared at his mom, he also managed to catch his fathers small grin. He must've been finding the situation pretty amusing.
"Well I would hope," Mitsuki started between mouthfuls of dinner, "that I would be the first to know when you get a girlfriend. Although, you might wanna lose the attitude if you want a girl to like ya."
He rolled his eyes before stuffing his face with food, hoping to avoid furthering the conversation.
"Who is this friend you've been talking to then, son?" Katsuki's father, Masaru asked. Possibly trying to stop his wife's otherwise endless rambling.
"Kirishima."
"Eijiro, right? The red head? Oh I remember him, what a lovely kid!" His mom butted in once again although this time with a smile on her face.
"Yes, he always seemed like a nice kid." Masaru added.
Katsuki kept his focus on the dinner he was scarfing down, in an attempt to leave the room as soon as possible before he began to blush. Thinking about Kirishima seemed to have that effect on him.
"Is Kirishima spending his break with his family? Or-" Mitsuki questioned.
"Stayed back at the dorms."
"I see," she nodded, "whys that?"
Katsuki gave her a look, he didn't get why she always felt the need to ask questions, and be involved in everyone's business. Must be one of the few traits he didn't inherit from her, he thought. "Parents went out of town."
"You shoulda asked him to stay with us! The poor kid is alone in the dorms!" She snapped at her son.
Katsuki rolled his eyes, but did end up thinking about it. Why didn't he invite Kirishima? It's not strange for friends to stay with each other's family's once in a while, right? Not to mention the fact that they'd basically been spending the break together texting anyways. "Maybe for spring break."
His mother sighed, "We'll see."
--
Katsuki shut the door behind him as he entered his room, which was much more personalized than his dorm room, after finishing dinner and helping with the dishes.
As he walked to his bed, he caught a glimpse of himself on the mirror hanging on his closet doors. He was wearing Kirishimas sweatshirt, a fact that he had forgotten throughout the day.
The red head had given it to him during a hangout before the break, when Katsuki forgot to bring a jacket and would not stop complaining about the cold weather.
It was quite comfortable and a dusty red color that reminded him of Kirishima, not to mention it smelled like him. Or at least, smelled like his shampoo, which Katsuki only knew because of the times he had showered at the others dorm before, not for some other creepy reason of course.
He fought back the smile that begged to be displayed on his face and threw himself onto his bed. It wasn't long before the redhead had messaged him again, the text actually making Katsuki snort due to the timing.
Shitty hair:
do you still have my hoodie?
red one
i can't find it :c
Blasty:
..maybe
it's comfy
Shitty hair:
I KNOW !!
that's why it's my favorite
Blasty:
u want it back?
Shitty hair:
nah u can keep :>
Blasty:
good cus i was definitely not gonna give it back
Shitty hair:
lol i thought so
enjoy it !!
Katsuki sighed reading back their messages, texting Kirishima made his heart flutter in ways he thought were made up in movies. He felt like a school girl with a crush. It was annoying, but he couldn't help but savor it.
Being friends with the other was perfectly fine. Although the blonde couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to be more than that, not like he could ever work up the courage to initiate anything but it was fun to think about. There were no doubts in his mind that Kirishima didn't see Katsuki in that way, an even though the thought made his stomach drop, he had to believe it.
It was for his own good, right?
--
Shitty hair:
hey
Katsuki groaned, the vibrating alert from his phone was enough to wake him up, probably due to the fact that he had fallen asleep with the device only a few inches away from his head. He rubbed his eyes and squinted as he tried to read Kirishimas message. He shifted his gaze to the time which read 2:17 AM.
Why would Kirishima be texting him so late? Katsuki couldn't help but be annoyed at getting woken up, but he also felt a little concerned.
Blasty:
u woke me up shitty hair
what's up
Shitty hair:
shit sorry! i didn't notice it was so late :0
Blasty:
it's whatever
u ok?
Shitty hair:
yeah! i just can't sleep i guess
Katsukis eyes had begun to flutter close the second he sent his reply, the drowsiness from being awoken finally getting to him. He had soon fallen completely asleep, rendering him unable to read Kirishimas final few messages for the night.
Shitty hair:
i miss u
i guess that sounds kinda stupid huh lol but the dorms r pretty lonely when no one else is here :P
especially u
hahah did u fall asleep ?
sleep well baku <3
--
Katsuki couldn't help but feel giddy the rest of the day after awaking to Kirishima's prior messages. He tried not to feel disappointed that he had fallen asleep before he could reply and ofer his friend reassurance, but the rare feeling of guilt still lurked low in his stomach.
His mothers words the other day also seemed to linger in his mind as he begun to feel bad about not inviting the red head to spend break with him and his family. He couldn't help but wonder if Kirishima also felt discontent that Katsuki hadn't?
The first week of break seemed to pass uncomfortably slow the more he thought about how Kirishima was alone at the dorms, and he stopped being able to enjoy spending time with his parents as all his focus was on his friend.
He also felt guilty for that. He had come to visit his parents just to sit around and either text Kirishima or mope about how he wasn't there with him. It was making him grow tense.
"What's up with you?" His mother had asked him one day when he was particularly acting sluggish. He looked up at her from his position on the couch; Her arms were crossed and her eyebrows sat on her face raised ever so slightly, almost in an amused fashion.
He blinked at her, not only unsure of how to respond but also shocked that his change in mood was so noticeable. She was his mother, though, she knew him well.
"Don't give me that look brat, you know what i mean." Mitsuki said as she shifted her weight onto one leg. Although her choice of words was aggressive, she spoke them with a calmer tone than usual. Katsuki was a lot like his mother in that sense, he thought.
He moved slightly on the couch, his mother's eyes on him made him feel particularly cornered almost like a deer in headlights. "Im just tired, I guess." It was a stupid excuse, he knew that, and his mother was definitely gonna continue to question him but it was the first thing he could think to say as he scrambled for a response that didn't include Kirishima.
"There's something else going on, right?" She almost smiled, her intuition was much like his, but her persistence and stubbornness drove him mad.
"It's nothing," he said loudly before turning over on his side and shutting his eyes tightly, "now let me sleep, old hag."
He could hear her chuckle and begin leaving the room, "A nap at 3 pm? Alright, Katsuki."
--
The third or fourth time his mother had pestered him about his shift in temper sometime later, she had begun to start coming to her own conclusions, annoying the blonde further. Perhaps that was part of her plan. He didn't give in, though tempted, and kept up with his shitty excuses instead; Until his father had decided to bring it up himself.
"So, whats been bothering you?" Masaru said in a soft yet concerned tone after entering the boys room. His fathers way of speaking was much different to Katsuki's and his mothers who both tended to be unable to express their thoughts and feelings without coming across as overly aggressive.
Katsuki peered over to his dad at the doorway, his first inclination being to spurt out another random lie, if it could even be called that; But instead he looked up at the bland celling above them and thought.
A few long silent seconds passed before Katsuki had made up his mind and looked back towards his father.
"Could I leave home early?"
Chapter Text
Katsuki couldn't help but feel incredibly nervous as he stood in front of Kirishima's door. It was not uncommon for them to show up at each other's dorms randomly, but this time felt different. He had come directly from his parents house after they'd agreed to allow him to leave earlier than planned a day prior. He hadn't even stopped at his own dorm to put any of his luggage away, before making a direct sprint to Kirishimas.
He considered knocking after taking a few deep breaths, but instead hastily pulled his phone out of his back pocket.
Blasty
are you in ur dorm?
He was instantly thankful that the other always seemed to have his phone around and never took more than a few minutes to respond to messages.
Shitty hair
uh yea ?
why what's up
Katsuki took another shaky breath, he would be lying if he said he didn't know why he was so anxious to see his friend, before finally knocking on the door. Time seemed to slow to an uncomfortable pace as he watched the doorknob begin to move.
The door finally opened to reveal a confused and topless, Katsuki noted, redhead. His hair was pulled back and messy, and his phone was still in hand open on their messages.
"Hey-" Katsuki started before he was thrown into a tight hug from the brightly laughing boy.
Before he could begin to reciprocate the hug Kirishima had pulled away, still keeping a hold of the blonde by the arms. "What're ya doing back so early?"
"Got bored." He replied in the calmest voice he could muster, which proved to be quite difficult with a shirtless Kirshima gripping his upper arms.
"Oh," He let his hands fall, "and how are your parents?"
Katsuki shifted, trying to not let his disappointment at the loss of touch present itself on his face, "They're doing good, said I should've invited you."
Kirishima laughed, before focusing on the suitcase besides the blonde, "Have you not put your stuff away? Want help?"
"If you want to, sure?"
"Hell yeah!"
--
"Dumbass! That is NOT how you fold clothes!"
"It's not my fault you're such a perfectionist!" Kirishima shouted back, throwing the balled up shirt at Katsukis face.
Instead of retaliating, the fed up blonde simply glared at the boy and folded the shirt himself, "See? This is why your drawers look like a fucking tornado blew through them and mine dont."
"Is it really messy if I can still find everything?" He laughed, tossing himself onto the others bed. They were basically done with putting everything away, which took much longer than previously excepted since Katsuki insisted on everything being completely organized to his extremely high standards.
After closing the final drawer, the blonde too fell back on his bed with a sigh, shutting his eyes once he got comfortable.
"You tired?" Kirishima asked from besides him, turning his body to lay facing the other.
Katsuki nodded, bus rides seemed to do that to him, even though the one earlier was only an hour long.
"Did you do anything fun at your parents place?" Kirishima spoke up after a minute or two of silence.
"Not really," He replied in between yawns, "Went on a hike."
"Sounds fun!"
Katsuki rolled himself to his side to look at Kirishima, "What about you?" He asked softly, fighting the urge to fall asleep.
"Well," The redhead stared up at the celling with a grin, "Kaminari didn't leave since his parents live in town so we hung out a lot! Oh and one time he started laughing so hard the smoothie he was drinking shot out of his nose! It was hilarious! And Mina facetimed me a bunch! Did you see she's at the beach? She asked about you, next time she calls you should say hi!"
Kirishima didn't stop rambling, and although Katsuki was nodding off to sleep, he tried to keep his eyes open enough to study the boys face. He looked so filled with joy, talking about all the random things that happened while the blonde was away and talking about his friends.
"Oh, right! I never thanked you for letting me text you so much even though you were with your family! I feel a little bad cus' I was probably bothering you but it was a lot of fun!" He continued smile only growing, turning again to lock eyes with the other beside him while propping himself up an elbow.
Katsuki hummed, not knowing what else to say as his heart was already a flutter due to the small distance between their faces, although the drowsiness he felt was helping to keep his focus away from it. With another yawn he inched closer to Kirishimas chest; he was never much of a cuddle or hug person but always seemed to be drawn closer to the redhead. The latter who was much more affectionate but kept his friend's boundaries in mind seemed to pick up on subtle things the blonde did when he felt like partaking in physical affection, as rare as it was. Kirishima simply knew him that well.
As if on que, he gently tossed his arm over Katsuki's side, instinctively taking to drawing circles with his thumb on the others back. Katsuki pulled closer, letting his forehead press softly onto Kirshima's chest and his legs move to be between his.
It was nice being that physically close with one another, although he would never admit it. The short amount of time before he succumbed to sleep where the only thing he could think of was how much he liked how was being held, proved to make him feel particularly calm.
In that moment, Kirishima was the only thing on his mind. The only thing he cared about. Those familiar anxiety's and feelings of nervousness no longer mattered, as the sense of euphoria reserved for moments with the redhead resurfaced. Kirishima was the only person who could make him feel that way.
And Katsuki couldn't help but soak up every ounce of it.
"I missed you." He mumbled into the other and finally fell asleep.

Chapter Text
As Katsuki awoke and shifted his eyes, he noticed he was still in a similar if not the same position he had fallen asleep in. His head was now resting on Kirishimas forearm and an arm was thrown over the others torso. He noticed that the redhead no longer had an arm around him, and instead was holding up his phone probably scrolling through social media or watching a video.
Kirishima must have noticed him wake up as he turned his head slightly to look over at the blonde. Upon meeting Katsuki's gaze, he broke out in a grin, "Mornin, sleeping beauty!"
Katsuki mumbled a quiet profanity as he sat up and ran a hand through his messy hair, "How long was I asleep for?"
"Uh not long, almost an hour." Kirishima said, shifting his focus back to his phone.
"Fuck," He rubbed his eyes, "what time is it?"
"About one," Kirishima replied, sitting up and leaning back on his hands, "you had lunch yet?"
Katsuki shook his head, he had only gotten in a mediocre breakfast before needing to leave to catch the bus. Come to think of it, he was definitely hungry.
"Me neither, should we go out and get a bite to eat?"
The blonde pushed himself off of the bed and stretched, yawning before thinking of a response. "Ill cook here, I don't feel like going out."
Kirishima smiled widely, "Sounds good!"
--
Katsuki didn't really like cooking around people, not to mention for people, but he was willing to make an exception for Kirishima. The dorms were pretty much empty due to the break so he felt a little more comfortable.
Kirishima sat on a counter, falling back into his usual rambling while the other cooked. Katsukis mind couldn't help but wander back to their "cuddle sesh" earlier that day, was that a normal bro thing to do? It's not like Kirishima is usually one to shy away from showing his friends affection, but holding your friend tenderly in your arms while they sleep might be cutting the line. Right? Or was he simply reading into it too much.
The blonde was snapped out of his thoughts by the others loud laughter, which he was thankful for as the start of a blush was begging to form on his face. He passed Kirishima a plate of the food and took one for himself, leading them both over to one of the couches in the far side of the room connected to the kitchen.
Katsuki caught himself staring at the redhead a couple times, as they eat together on the couch, but he couldn't really blame himself. Kirishimas smile was eye catching, radiant. Everything about him felt warm and inviting, and it took all the blondes power not to give in and move closer.
Although he would never get used to the rapid speed of his heart when the other was near, or the fluttery feeling in his stomach, he still wanted nothing more but to be near the redhead. He no longer minded any of the nauseating manifestations of his "crush" on Kirishima, he only wanted to spend time with him. He'd live through them all as long as he got to see the other smile. And although the thought of being something more with Kirishima was enticing, he could never risk losing what the had. He would never be able to forgive himself if that were to happen.
"Hey Bakugou?" He started up besides the blonde. Katsuki hummed as a response, in between bites of food.
"Do you like anyone?"
The blonde coughed, almost choking on his food at the unexpected question, "Hah?! What are we, middle schoolers?!"
Kirishima laughed, waving a hand to the blonde and wiping away a fake tear. "Sorry! That was random, but you never tell me about any crushes or anything, i'm just curious!"
"I don't," Katsuki turned his head away, "I don't have time for stuff like that."
"Oh, really?" The redhead smiled, taking a sip from his cup of water. The other hummed, still slightly embarrassed.
"What about you?" The blonde asked, putting his plate back onto the coffee table in from of them and pulling up his knees.
"Hm," Kirishima looked up, a soft expression on his face, "there's someone I like. Not sure if its gonna go anywhere though." He turned back towards the other, a small smile on his lips.
Oh.
"They'd be dumb not to like you back."
Oh.
"I hope that's the case." He chuckled lightly, grinning at Katsuki.
Why does it,
He tried his best to smile back.
Hurt..?

Chapter Text
Falling asleep proved to be particularly difficult that night, the thought of Kirishima being romantically interested in someone that wasn't the blonde had in bedded itself into Katsuki's head and was not letting him rest easy.
He had felt shittier than usual ever since Kirishima had told him about his crush, and even though he was very much happy for his friend, he also felt ..
sad?
Katsuki wasn't sure what he was feeling, but he was definitely not enjoying it. Maybe deep down he was starting to believe the redhead could've begun to share his feelings, and hearing him talk about his infatuation for someone else was disappointing. He would call it heart breaking if he was feeling more dramatic, but he simply felt uncomfortable.
Kirishima liking someone else, made him feel uncomfortable. It was selfish and dumb, he knew that, but he couldn't help it.
Katsuki ripped off his bed sheets and slid out of bed. It was late, but it wasn't like he was gonna be able to go to bed anyways. He tossed on some actual pants, the first sweater he could find, and shuffled on some shoes.
He had left his room in such a haste that he barely noticed the figure near him. It was Kirishima, he observed, leaning against his dorm's door.
He stepped up in front of the other, which seemed to catch the red heads attention as he lifted up his head to meet Katsukis eyes, "What are you doing out here, shitty hair."
Kirishima looked at him wide-eyed, to which the blonde raised a brow. "Hey Bakugou," He started sheepishly, "I uh, I couldn't sleep. I just had to leave my room." He smiled up at him, rubbing his neck with one hand.
Katsuki blinked, unsure of what to say at first. He shifted his eyes to the otherwise empty hallway and then back at the redhead. "Wanna go on a walk?"
--
It was dark out, not to mention cold, and the sky was plain except for the ocasional small star and the bright moon.
The two boys walked quietly side by side, on the sidewalk of a nearby park. It was odd for Kirishima to be so silent, and the blonde was beginning to grow anxious with worry.
"Kirishima."
"Hm?"
"What's on your mind." Katsuki turned his head to look at the other, who kept his eyes trained on the ground.
"Sorry uh," He laughed lightly though it sounded forced, "im just a little out of it tonight, I guess?"
"Me too," He bumped his shoulder against Kirishima's, "I couldn't sleep either."
"It's way past your bedtime, huh." The redhead chuckled at the following shove Katsuki gave with his shoulder, which was a relief to the other who was glad he managed to make Kirishima seem a little bit happier.
The conversation remained absent still, but their shoulders continued to playfully collide and their knuckles brushed together too frequently for Katsuki to be able to avoid over thinking about.
His hand felt warmer every time Kirishima's grazed by, and he was barely unaware of the way he had begun to mindlessly inch his pinky finger closer to the others, until they had practically interlocked.
The gesture was small, and easy to play off as an accident, but Kirishimas hand did not move, did not awkwardly flinch away. It stayed completely still and, unless Katsuki was imagining it, might've even begun to move closer, as well.
The blonde took this as a go ahead to fully interlock their pinky fingers. It was minor, barely there, but enough to make his heart beat rapidly and warm him up.
"Oh, right I need to stop by the pharmacy, wanna come with me now?" Kirishima chirped up breaking the silence after a long few minutes, looking over to Katsuki.
"I guess? What do you need to get?"
"Hair dye!" He grinned.
--
Katsuki didn't quite understand how he went from tossing and turning in bed an hour prior to sitting in his bathroom preparing to recolor his friends roots, yet there he was reading the instructions on a hair dye box while Kirishima sat on a stool with his usual dumb smile.
"Ok so," Katsuki said slipping on the cheap gloves that came inside the box, "we need to bleach your hair first."
Kirishima nodded, tossing the tube of bleach he had found in his bathroom cannot earlier to the blonde.
Katsuki carefully followed the instructions, mixing the bleach up in a flimsy plastic container he had lying around. He finally carefully moved over to Kirishima with the bowl and brush and began sectioning off his hair and applying it.
"You seem to know what you're doing." The red head giggled, resulting in the other kicking his chair and yelling at him to stop moving. "So you've done this before?"
"Yeah, I dyed my hair black once."
Kirishima burst out laughing at that, clutching his stomach and tossing his head back.
"Oi! Shut up and quit moving!" Katsuki shouted back.
"Hah, sorry I just never knew that! When?"
"Middle school, that shit was a pain to get out."
Kirishima laughed again but this time tried his best to remain still while Katsuki continued to carefully apply the bleach to his roots.
"Done." The blonde said after a few minutes, stepping back to put away the bowl and brush.
"Wow that was fast! Now we just have to wait!" He grinned sitting up to glance at himself in the mirror while the other cleaned up. "Should we watch a movie to pass the time?"
"Sure."
--
After watching a good 45 minutes of some random movie, the two had shuffled back into the bathroom to wash off the bleach from Kirishimas hair and begin actually dyeing it.
"This parts more fun!" The redhead smiled, waiting patiently for Katsuki to begin applying the color to his, now an unflattering shade of blonde, roots.
Kirishima sat still humming a tune while the other repeated a similar process to the last, parting and dyeing the other boys overgrown roots.
He was standing in front of Kirishima, starting on the front section of his hair when the other began to speak out through giggles, "Bakugou, you've got dye on your face!"
"What!" The blonde yelled turning to look in the mirror. Sure enough there was a small spot of bright red dye on his cheek, and a laughing boy behind him. "Dont make fun of me! This shit will stain!"
"Calm down," Kirishima said in between fits of bubbly laughter, "ill get it off for you!"
Suddenly a hand had reached up to his face and rested itself against the side of his jaw, wiping off the small smear of dye on his cheek.
Katsuki knew he was a blushing mess. Kirishimas hands were rough, yet soft and warm against his face. His laughter had died down back into small giggles but the wide smile remained.
Katsuki felt like he was hypnotized when his face started to linger closer to the redhead's, but it had all felt so perfect; The gentle hand on his cheek, Kirishima's smile, his lips . It felt almost melodic, like a dream, and he could've sworn the other also began to move closer too.
In an instant it had become real, their faces were nearly touching and Kirishima's eyes had dropped closed. He had almost begun to consider leaving, flinching back and running out of the room to god knows where, but he couldn't bring himself to.
Instead he shut his eyes, swallowed his anxiety and shifted his head slightly to close the gap between their lips.
It wasn't much of a first kiss, especially since Katsuki had half expected the overwhelming feelings he'd felt when he was practically throwing up over a cute photo of the redhead to resurface. But they hadn't, at least not in that extremity. He felt nice, warm and fuzzy throughout his entire body. Kirishima's lips were soft against his and his hand hadn't moved from its position on the blonde's cheek. Though it was short, Katsuki wished it would've never ended.
Until it did end, they parted, and the realization of what he just did hit him like a truck.
Oh shit.

Chapter Text
Katsuki Bakugou was never good with feelings, even when they were staring him straight in the face, manifested in crimson irises.
Often, he'd chose to run from them. They were unknown, and he desperately wanted to ignore them, to hide. But that option had been thrown out of the window the second his lips pressed into Kirishimas, the same person who'd initially caused the new wave of obnoxiously persistent feelings.
And now the red head was looking up at him stupidly, with wide eyes and firmly shut lips as if to keep his jaw from dropping onto the floor.
Katsuki couldn't help but find him utterly adorable in that moment; slicked back hair slathered with red dye that had stained around his forehead and ears, the hand that was previously resting on Katsukis face had been dropped once they parted and was now accompanying the other gripped on each side of the wooden stool he was perched on.
He'd opened his mouth a few times, closing it suddenly and repeating every few seconds before he'd finally sputtered something out, "Did you just kiss me..?"
The blonde blinked at him a few times before rolling his eyes, "No Kirishima, I gave you a high five with my lips."
Kirishima huffed out a laugh, raising his hands in defense, "Alright alright, I get it! But uh, like, why?"
Now it was Katsukis turn to stare with furrowed brows and piercing eyes, "Because I like you? Why else would I." He said, before anxiety or the ever looming thought that kept constantly reminding him of Kirishima's mystery crush could hold him back.
He simply wanted the other to know. The risk of ruining their friendship seemed almost insignificant after the kiss, there was no point to keep it hidden.
"You do? Really?" Kirishima stood up, now looking at him directly.
Katsuki nodded. The room was silent except for the utter loudness of their locked eyes until the red head burst out laughing.
"And here I was," he blurted out in between fits of bright giggles, "thinking my crush was completely hopeless!"
The blonde sucked in a breath, eyebrows only knitting together closer. He had no clue what the boy meant by that, was he making fun of him? Comparing they're situations? Or did he..
No. Don't get your hopes up Katsuki.
Kirishima stepped closer after regaining his composure, pulling his hand up to latch onto the collar of Katsuki's shirt and yanking him forward.
He blushed furiously as their noses practically bumped together and the redhead spoke again, "I like you too, Bakugou." Closing the distance between their lips with a second tug to his shirt.
His eyes shut quickly as the initial shock settled, and he pushed further into Kirishima, reappropriating the kiss with all he had. He wrapped his hands around the others waist, fighting the urge not to tangle them in freshly dyed hair that had surely already stained his fingers as well as most of the bathroom.
Kirishima pulled back, smiling widely as if pure joy was radiating off of him, "This can't be real, I cant believe that you like me!"
"Yeah yeah, now back to kissing Shitty hair."
The redhead's incoming laugh was muffled by the reconnection of their lips and the hands that rose to cup his jawline. Katsuki had never kissed Kirishima before that day, but he was already becoming quickly addicted. The sweetness of his lips was intoxicating, and the warmth of rough hands finding their way around Katsuki's neck sent electricity through him.
Kirishima parted them again after a while, breathless yet regaining his grin, "Let's go finish the movie, yeah?"
Katsuki was a little disappointed at the interruption but trailed behind the other & their interlocked hands, nonetheless.
Kirishima was careful to wrap an already stained to hell towel around his shoulders as to avoid the blonde's probable and understandable future outburst if any red dye got onto his sheets.
He sat on the bed, back against the wall allowing Katsuki to get comfortable beside him before unpausing the movie they had left earlier. Though, it was quickly discarded again between fits of shared giggles and quick kisses, their attention only staying glued to each other.
Katsuki couldn't help but beam at the redhead in front of him, he was just so incredibly happy.
And not nearly as dense.
