Chapter Text
“Please Kai, come out talk to me. What happen?” Banging on the door, pleading with all his life.
Just a minute ago he was about to marry the man of his life. Everything changed. He saw the face of his firecracker and knew something was wrong. Kai looked between him and Deku. Then a small whimper escapes her tiny mouth and her little legs carried her to leave this nightmare.
Both men looked at each other, then Deku gave him a small smile and a nob. A signal to go follow her, a small sign saying it’s okay. Is it really?
Now, we are back to the current situation. “Come on Kai, please what’s wrong?”
“No! Nonononono!!” The wail stretched beyond the walls. Luckily Deku knew where to head.
“Please Kai, I’ll do anything you want. Just please come out.”
Then, everything halts, as time stopped. Deku looked shocked and mortified. A gut feeling telling him to leave before, “You promised?” “Yes, I promise. Whatever you want.” “Don’t marry him, Daddy. Please don’t” there it was. The hurt.
Stunned kept him in place. The door finally opened. An adorable little girl, with a dress torn and puffy red eyes. She ran toward Kacchan, like an automatic, his arms flew toward her. But his mind was blank.
Now Deku hiding in the corner. Does not want to see the image. What would Kacchan say? He can’t agree. Can he? No, we both love each other. Kacchan would never agree. His stomach-turning, his vision going blurry. Pressing his hands to his mouth, to keep any noise that would jeopardize his presence. Sliding down the wall, he knew the outcome. He dreaded to hear it. He wants to believe, he wants to cling to hope. But he knew, he knows Katsuki better than anyone else. He hated it.
“Why do you say that Kai? Don’t you want Izuku to be part of us? I thought you wanted this as much as I do? Why Kai?” His voice sounding broken. He can’t believe what he is hearing, no he wants to ignore it. Did Kai want this right? Or did he imagine it? Was he being selfish, that he didn’t pay attention to his daughter? Then everything came flashing, hitting him with a brick in the head. Kai has been acting strange with Deku for a while. Stranger than his normal self. With the idiots or the Bakusquad, she has been fine, acting more of a brat. But with Deku, it’s like her daughter was scared.
He knows, he knows better than to believe this foolish idea but he wants, no needs to know. “Kaiyo has Deku been hurting you?” That’s when Izuku stops, no he needs to say something. But he’s glued to the floor. He can’t move.
“Daddy please...please….please Daddy don’t marry him you promise. You never break a promise. You promise!!”
“Kaiyo did her hurt you! Tell me now!”
“Yes, he did! So you can’t marry him. Don’t marry him!” Their world has shattered. Izuku now standing in front of them, making his presence clear.
“Kacchan you know I would never hurt Kaiyo.”
Katsuki was torn, hurt, betrayed. Lied to, used, everything turned red. “Get the fuck out now useless Deku! I never want to fucken see you around my family or friends. Leave!! Go fucken leave.” growling, hissing, barring these teeth and his worst death glare.
He’s pale, his world is shattered, broken. The words die in his throat. His jade eyes have no hope. His world doesn’t want him. Mustering all the courage he has, he grabbed the ring left is on the floor. “Sorry” Sorry for what? Sorry for wanting part of your love.
He walked down the hallway and a small figure goes up to him. A warmth, familiar, hugging him, never letting go. He let himself go.
Both friends went to support each other. Both hurting and at the loss of words.
Only one small little girl, relief. Knowing nothing is going to change. She has her Daddy to herself.
In the next few months, a lot has happened. Katsuki, a single father, still living in Tokyo. The best agency created by him and a few friends at age 23. However, he became more distant. Taking more shifts, avoiding anybody who tries to stop him to take a break. He couldn’t, he didn’t. He needed to be at the top, that is his dream. Just got sidetracked a few months back. But now, he means business. Nothing will stop him, well unless his little firecracker distracted him.
Ever since the wedding was canceled, he has been there for every waking beck and call. Instead of relying on friends when he can’t make it. Well, now he takes it upon himself to be there. Nothing will come between them, not even his shitty friends when they want to hang out and drink beer.
Kai is thrilled about this. Every moment with her favorite hero. All to herself. However, even she noticed her favorite person is different. She calls it the glow, his eyes don’t shine as they used to but when she takes his attention his eyes are not the brightest, there forced. His smile does not show any confidence. That confident smirk is gone. She brushed it off. In the meantime. Until guilt overtook her.
Kai was not the only one who noticed a few changed. Uncle Kiri, Uncle Todo, Aunty Ocha, Aunty Mina, and practically all of class 1-A. Both trying to confront their friends. Trying to figure out what happened, until Izuku left a note to Todoroki and Ochako. Explaining why he needed to leave, both of them confronting Bakugou differently. Ochako slapping him in the face hard it left a throbbing sensation.
“What the hell Bakugou!!” Eyes had filled with hurt and anger. Ready to attack and defend.
“Pink Cheeks your threading in thin fucken line . What the hell is your problem and chooses your words wisely. I ain’t in the fucken mood to fight.” Sneering and growling like a wolf who has fought but is fucken tired of everyone’s shits.
“YOU, you’re the fucken problem. Deku told us what happens! How can you fucken believe Deku has done that too little Kai. We all love her like she is our own. Do you believe 100% he would even dare touch a single hair in her adorable chubby cheeks?” All while this is going down, Todoroki is giving a disappointing nod to Bakugou with his hands crossed against his chest. In reality, he fears standing between Ochako when she is pissed. So he just stands there. He’ll talks to both of them eventually.
A part of him knows those, but how can he go against his daughter’s words. He knows, but he doesn’t know. He pushed aside because he knows either truth would hurt.
Months turned to years, she saw her dad cracked. Almost died of insomnia and overworked. A villain, but which villain caused her dad to suffer?
And with our little cinnamon bun, well he had it worse. He took the night shifts so he would have less of a chance to run into Baku- no he can’t. It will always be Kacchan to him. He knows Kai lied, and of course, he was hurt, but not angered by the actions. He understood, did not want to be between them, he left it alone. He would never dare touch Kai, all he ever wanted to be to her is someone she can trust and confine to. Lend a shoulder or an ear. Always wanted to see her smile. Wanted to hug her and tell her everything will be alright and spoil her rotten. Wanted to be a father figure to someone who needed it.
But he accepted it.
He stayed with his mom and All Might, at their new home. At first, he declined to say he can stay at a hotel. But both his parents ordered him to stay with them. So he did, the first week, he only ate ice cream and katsudon. While rewatching All Might T.V shows, movies, and documentaries. In the company of his own squad, which contains, Ochako, Todoroki, Tenya, Tsu, and Shinso. All giving him, cuddles, or support, or refilling his food.
Luckily, two friends volunteered to retrieve some of his belongings from Bakugou. Well, technically some wanted to go, “to give sense to meathead” as Ochako had said. But right now only the reasonably and available ones went. That was Todoroki and Shinso. Went in the daytime, where they would find the house abandon.
After a week, he went back to work. He always gave it his all but this time he would give it until he maxed out. He even started to redesign his suit and added new gadgets. A new makeover, but he kept the base to its original. With his analysis and design skyrocketing he decided to help Mei, more as of an apprentice. He wanted to be the best, to prove his worth.
But everywhere he went, he saw him or her. The places they hanged out or the news. Breakdowns. Bottling his emotions it was too much, that he is suffocating. Then something happens. He has been scouted by Melissa Shield. Honestly, he was relieved but hesitant. Can I really leave Japan? Who will take care of everyone? No, they need me. Well, his friends are capable. They’re all in the top 50. They have proven themselves. But what about his parents, and his friends. I need Ochako and Todoroki ASAP.
Sending a quick text to his favorite support group who is not busy or asleep. Todoroki, Ochako I need you guys. Free tonight, please come over.
Ochako: Do we need to have a sleepover?
Todoroki: If so, I can bring food. Would ramen suffice?
Deku: Please. I need support. Todoroki-kun, no I can’t let you waste your money on me. I can pay for it!
Todoroki: It’s not my money, it’s Endeavors.
Deku and Ochako were both stuffed with food, while Todoroki enjoyed soba. All while convincing Deku to take the job because he needed a break from Japan. So it was a four-year contract. Helped Melissa and became a Symbol of Hope for Americans. Everyone felt at ease the only one who dreaded it was Katsuki. He knew, he told Deku to leave them alone, but he knew that was a lie. His heart is half empty.
So while they were both living their lives, there was a little girl who mastered the courage. But to be honest, during this time, she follows Deku life. Always keeping in check of what the green-eyed boy was doing. All news articles stored in a file, all t.v news saved to recording.
While she is busy, someone else was evolving. No longer being scared of the truth. Katsuki talked to everyone who knows Deku, always replayed memories. Until he pieced it together. After Deku left, she did not seem relief, but a smile of victory. She didn’t seem scared or jumpy while his name popped up.
So one day, he took time from work and picked up Kai. Kai can feel the tension of the room and she knew. At 11 years old Kai had confessed. It was hard because she knew there is no lying permitted in the household.
“Why did you do it? You know I would always put my life for you. You’re my everything, so why Kaiyo?” A shaky breath, and glassy eyes starring at her daughter.
“You always spend time with him, you left me. I felt so alone, I didn’t want anything to change. I wanted everything to stay the same. Just you and me.” Screaming her thoughts, she finally confesses. While holding tight her skirt, her knuckles all white. Her eyes closed shut because of the scariness of her dad being mad and never forgiving her.
A long silence, until she broke it. “I’m sorry daddy. I am so sorry. Please forgive me, I didn’t think you would suffer. I saw your light gone, and you left. You almost died, and it was because of my fault. I made everything wrong. I’m the sorry daddy!” This time Kai fell to the ground clutching her stomach while sobbing, begging for her dad to make this pain go away. Her breath all shaky, her breath unsteady. Her vision becoming blurry, everything feels dizzy.
Until strong arms enveloped her to safety. A tight strong hug, making her gasp and opening her eyes.
“It’s okay Kai. What you did was wrong and you’re going to get punished for lying. You have to apologize also. But when something feels wrong you come to me. You know you can trust, there is no need to hide.” Lord and behold Katsuki being soft for his little angel.
So, they all went around apologizing. First, they met up with Deku’s parents, Toshi and Inko. Having a long chat, and her sobbing again, hoping they can forgive her. After, a few hours they did but with a price. She needs to spend lunchtime with them, for the rest of her life. Then they went to the Deku-Squad. They all hugged her and cooed at her.
Her cuteness was not helping either. You just couldn’t say no to the chubby cheeks.
Then she brought up her findings to her dad and how to get them together. She wanted to see her dad smile again, and if that is finding Deku and being able to talk then so be it.
“Dad! Look if we can find out when his contract ends then we can go and explain all of this. You guys can probably--”
“No Stop Kai. We shouldn’t be doing this, you shouldn’t be doing this. You need to focus on your education and not fucking stalking Deku.”
“It’s not stalking I’m researching.”
“Whatever helps you sleep firecracker. I mean it stops this. I made it clear it to him that I don’t want him near.”
“We all know you’re emotionally constipated.”
“Shut it brat.”
At age 12, she found something shocking. It read Are Pro-Hero Deku and Melissa Shield Dating. Is True Love Blossoming? I Believe, so look at the pictures on the next page.
One picture of Deku in a fancy restaurant with Melissa while sharing wine.
The next them leaving, and Melissa is hugging onto him.
Then the final picture is them going together to Deku’s apartment.
Katsuki looked at Kai with a dreaded eye telling her I told you to leave it. All while his body is rigid, exiting to go to bed early.
But Kai won’t give up because once her heart is in, she goes all out. So, she does her research. She looks at articles, looks at interviews. Luckily her Auntie Momo and Uncle Todo gave her lessons and books in English, so she has a good grasp of it.
After a few months, she came out to nothing. Nothing, apparently Midoriya-san likes to keep his private life, well private.
The only thing she did dig up was that he is in a contract. She dreaded did because she knew what she has to do. Swallow her pride and ask for help.
She can ask Uncle Toshi or Uncle Todo.
Her best bet would be Uncle Todo, she can just add her best puppy eyes. And she did, she met with her Uncle Todo. Turns out Uncle Todo, or as he and she decided her favorite person in the world, Midoriya-san is not dating Melissa, just helping her and his contract would end in 4 years.
After, 2 years passed she has received his personal number, and contact address. She also attended weddings and now has little brothers and sisters. Her favorite person married Auntie Momo and have a kid. Uncle Lida and Auntie Ochako married as well and are having twins. Then she became a bridesmaid for her Uncle Shitty Hair and Auntie Mina and they have one boy and one girl on the way. She officially became a babysitter. She also dubbed herself as the oldest sister.
She also attended lunch frequently with Auntie Inko. All in all, she was trying to become a better person, helping her Uncles and Aunties, while also helping out her dad. Going out more with friends and having time together for each other.
The only thing or the only one missing is Midoriya-san. She started to reminisce about the time he was here. Always making sure she was feed and taken care of. Putting his needs aside to help her. Even when her dad was not present, he was there. Just like her family, she was never alone, no one was taking her dad away from her. She just didn’t want anything to change. She was afraid of losing everything when in reality she was going to gain more. Letting a sigh out, she finally decided she needed to speak to Midoriya-san.
How she has no idea, but she does have a crazy idea. She does have her uncle Todo’s emergency credit card and she has his address. But can she really do it? Is she crazy enough to follow up? Can she leave her dad, “Kai! Come here, I need to talk to you.” “Coming!”
She goes into his bedroom, and she notices he starts packing, oh , “You’re leaving? When?”
“Yeah, tonight. I won’t be back until the end of the week. Icyhot will babysit you. Get your shit, also promise, for the love of God you will not do crazy shit.”
“Yes.” Well, the opportunity came up, all she needs is to convince Uncle Todo.
“So in short you want me to take you to America and to find Deku so you can talk to him.” Uncle Todo had a blank space like it was expected this would happen or he is immune to bullshit.
The dead silence, and honestly she was expecting this. Silence because she can see he is thinking until a new expression almost as mischief smirk played on his face and that sold her crazy idea. They are going to America. So Uncle Todo had fixed his bags, and fixed her bags and let his agency knew he taking a break because her daughter is sick and Momo is not fit.
Since he is a hero he has his perks, but to be honest he only used his perks once in a while.
“Momo, I am taking a trip to visit Deku, and I’m taking Kai!” Everyone in an earshot would have thought that was a crazy idea but to Momo she was used to it. She already grew used to Todo’s unexplained urges to do random things. He just does what he thinks. “Honey, if you’re taking Kai, does Bakugou-kun know?” Before he can reply, Kai stepped in “Yes, Auntie, he let Unc, oh um, my favorite person take me to visit Deku. It’s because I want to see him in person, and hopefully, apologize.” She was hopeful, not a full lie but still somewhat of a truth.
Truthfully, Momo did want to see her two classmates together and she fully knew Todoroki supported them. She also trusts Todoroki to care for Kai, she is family. “Okay, bring me back some souvenirs! Make sure you buy the airplane tickets now. It’s a long flight!”
Luckily, while they were talking he purchased them. They called a taxi and were heading to the airport. Now, I know what your thinking, this is a stupid mistake, why don’t you wait. She can’t wait, she’s impatient. She just wants to make everything better. If she could do that out of the blue, and get this over with then she would. Also, she really wants her dad happy again.
And so, she is in a flight with her favorite person, about to reunite two pinning idiots. According to Uncle Todo, his exact words, “Oh Deku, I think he still loves Kacchan. He always asks about you two. To keep him updated. He really does not want to intrude though, he rather is far away but still in the loop with you guys.” With that, her mind is set.
Back in America, Deku had managed to keep his life intact. Becoming in the top 5 heroes. Managed to stop breaking his bones, started to sleep more, and decided to have a vacation day because Melissa forced him out of the shop. So now, he is rewatching All Might movies and t.v shows while eating snacks. Probably Kacchan would be mad at me for eating these, but he is lazy to go to the store and buy food.
Drifting into sleep, was very comforting. Maybe he can actually take advantage of this--- Ding Dong, Knock, Knock ---he spoke too soon.
A long sigh escaped his mouth, he paused his t.v and went to open the door little did he knew that moment would change his life.
