Work Text:
“Ready?” Gus made one last check and was about to leave Shawn in the dust, just for a few seconds.
“Ready…” Shawn humphed.
“But…?”
“But I want to do it with you. You make everything easier, Gus. And I know you’d make this easier, too.”
Gus sighed. Of course Shawn would say that. Of course he would say the one thing he knew would get Gus to agree. He sighed again and held out his arm.
Shawn grinned and took it. “Thanks, buddy.”
“This goes against everything I believe in.”
“Come on, Gus. Give tradition a break.”
“Give tradition a break? A break? We’re doing this on a Tuesday afternoon, in your dad’s backyard, and neither of us is even wearing white! Tradition hasn’t touched us with a ten foot pole. Besides, it’s bad luck to walk together.”
“That’s seeing the bride, Gus.”
Tsk. “I’ve heard both ways.”
Music drifted into the kitchen. “Ready?” Shawn beamed at him. Gus couldn’t say no.
“Ready.”
“Burton Guster, let’s get married!”
