Chapter 1: He ain't shit

Chapter Text

“Cause your boyfriends a bitch…” Bakugou's words interrupted the silence. Everyone looked at him as he said it. He didn’t know he had said it so loud.

“That's not cool…” Mina said looking at him.

“Sorry… I didn’t mean to say it out loud.” He grumbled.

“He's not a bitch he’s just…” Uraraka complained.

Bakugou didn’t really want to hear it, this was a normal Friday night for him, Uraraka complaining about her boyfriend while they were out getting drinks. Kirishima, Sero, and Mina always comforted her, telling her things would change but Bakugou knew better. He knew that this guy was an insecure asshole. Every week was a new complaint, something he didn’t do, or choose not to do, hell the idiot didn’t even remember her birthday. Bakugou hated the bastard, not for any particular reason, but he was annoyed from hearing about him so much. He hated that his friends enabled her, telling instead of just telling her to dump his ass.

“He's just finding his way right now… and he's had a lot of girls cheat and-” Her excuses went on and on with him.

“What does that have to do with you though?” Bakugou asked.

“He’s just scared.”

“You're a completely different person, people have baggage, fine, but you’ve been dating for what? 2 years? If you haven’t cheated by now then he needs to get over it.”

“It's not that easy.”

“Stop making excuses for him. He’s not insecure, he’s controlling.” Bakugou said, finishing his beer.

“Who are you to tell her what to do?” Mina snapped back.

“No one. I’m just sick of spending Friday nights listening to her bitch and moan about this fucking extra.”

“Because you know so much about relationships.” Sero snorted.

“I know enough to know that he's taking advantage of her and that he's hiding behind this ‘I’ve been hurt before’ facade as a way to justify it. If he was so worried about that type of stuff then why is he in a relationship? He’s afraid of being cheated on right? Then why are you guys dating? How does him not helping you around the house or neglecting you satisfy that insecurity?”

“He's… just…” She stumbled on her words.

“Right, he would be too clingy if that was the case, no one said he couldn’t come to our hangouts, sure he's not a hero or anything, but we’ve invited him to all our shit, numerous times. But instead, he's mistreating you and then making you feel guilty for hanging out with friends.”

“He’s just not used to all the guy friends that I have.”

“Kirishima and Mina are together, Sero is forever alone-”

“Hey!” Sero said.

“It's just me. If he's worried about me, well then he's a fucking moron, because I have no interest.”

“Bakugou!” Mina said.

“Well, it’s none of your business anyways.” Uraraka snapped.

“You’re right, so stop making it my business by complaining about him.” Bakugou put his money on the table, gathering his things, he was going back for the night.

“You’re leaving?” Kirishima asked.

“Yeah, I’m headed home.”

“Wait! I forgot my key!” Sero said standing up.

“Then don’t get left behind.” Bakugou barked back.

Bakugou was annoyed, it wasn’t his intention to hurt her feelings but he was tired of this, tired of her doing this every weekend. She was cute and kind, she could do better, and honestly, he was surprised that she hadn’t ended up with Deku. Sero was breathing hard as he caught up to him, complaining about him walking too fast.

“You need to go back and apologize.” He said.

“I didn’t do anything wrong, if anything you guys owe her one.”

“Us?”

“You know the guys no good, all of you do, yet you all keep putting up with it. Aren’t you tired of seeing her suffer?”

“Well yeah… but that's what friends of there for, to be a shoulder to cry on.”

“Yeah, every once in a while. Not every fucking week. It’s bumming me out.”

Bakugou hated the look she would have on her face when she talked about him, the way she would scowl. She was unhappy and she knew it, so what was she sticking around for? What did she gain from staying with a bastard like that?

Uraraka tried to defend her boyfriend the best she could, but Bakugou was right, as much as she didn’t want to hear it, he was right. He was a bitch.

“Just ignore him, Ochaco, Bakugou’s probably in a bad mood,” Mina said.

“Yeah… when isn’t he in one…” She tried to laugh it off, but she couldn’t, Bakugou normally wasn’t one to talk much about those things, he was normally quiet during their hang-out time, chiming in when he felt like it normally.

“He's really caring guys, he's just not one to talk about it.” Kirishima smiled.

“But babe, seriously, he didn’t have to talk to her that way,” Mina said.

“He’s just bothered by it. I’ll call him later okay?”

“No, don’t do that… I really don’t need an apology, I just was surprised… I’ll stop talking about him so much, I didn’t mean to be so annoying.”

“It's fine.” Mina tried to change her mind.

“It's not. In all honestly, what Bakgou said was true…”

As she said this her phone chimed, looking down she saw it was a text from her boyfriend, Asahi.

-When are you coming home? I’m starving.

She was already rolling her eyes, she did this every Friday night, and every Friday night he was messaging her asking the same things, where was she? How long was she going to be? She texted him back, telling her friends she had to go to, wondering why he had waited till she was gone for two hours to complain.

When she got back he was doing the usual, watching Tv, and nothing else.

“Thank god for your home babe.” He said waving at her.

“There were leftovers in the fridge.” She rolled her eyes as she opened it.

“Well yeah…”

“I thought-”

“I wanted something different tonight…” he wined.

“Then you could have made something different.”

“But your cooking is better than mine.”

There it was again, he was buttering her up like he normally did.

“You could have come out with us as well, my friends are totally fine with you tagging along.”

“I’m not really interested, I mean… their sort of dull.”

“How would you know, you never hang out.” She huffed, going to the bedroom to get ready for her shower.

“Baby! Aren't you going to make me dinner?”

“No, I’m not hungry, just eat the leftovers.”

She was annoyed, Bakugou’s words were still knocking around in her head during the whole interaction. He wasn’t bringing anything to the relationship, all he did was gaslight her, so why didn’t she leave, what was stopping her?
