This Day Couldn't Get Any Worse, But It Just Did!!

Summary:

Summary:

(1x01)

Buck just got fired from is job as a firefighter for stealing the firetruck, having sex in said stolen firetruck and for being caught by his captain, while he was about to have sex on the roof of the firehouse.

Well, Buck can admit to himself that it's his own fault for getting fired, at least he thinks to himself, his day can't get any worse.

Buck like everything else in his life, should have been more careful, because he just jinxed himself.

Notes:

This isn't a part of my Buck's revelation series and this work is actually going to stay a one-shot, unless someone else wants to write another Fic to accompany this one.

If that is the case message me in the comments or if you want to message me privately, you can via My Twitter or Tumblr., which you can find the links for in the end notes.

Work Text:

Buck knows that, it was his own fault, that lead to where he is now, emptying his locker after being fired by Bobby for stealing a firetruck, for having sex in said firetruck and for being caught about to have sex on the firehouse roof.

He doesn't think this day could get any worse, getting fired by his own fault from the first place in years that felt like familly. Buck wasn't exaggerating when, he told Bobby that he didn't have anything else, considering that his sister hasn't talked to him or replied to his postcards in years and that he hasn't spoken or seen his parents since he left Hershey in Maddie's Jeep - in 2012.

He should have known to not jinx himself, because like everything else that happened to him in his life, the situation goes from bad to worse in an instant.

When, his phone start ringing, Buck answer trying to keep a certain level of happiness in his voice, - keeping a pretense that his day isn't going to shit.

"Hello?"

"Hey Buck?", Buck didn't need to be worried and keep the false pretenses, because it's one of his roommates and Buck knows they wouldn't notice the mood that, he is in anyways.

"Yes?"

"I'm just calling you. To inform you that. We sold the place. And that most of us are moving out next week or the week after that."

Okay great, so now if don't find a place and job in the next two weeks, I'm going to be not only without a job, but also homeless, just great, Buck sarcastically thinks to himself.

"Well, thanks for telling me man. But, I got to go now. So bye?", Buck ends the call without, waiting for a response from his roommate or soon to be former roommate at this point.

Buck sits heavily on the locker room's bench and puts his head in his hands. Buck knows now that he jinxed himself on that one and that his day did just get worse. At least he tells to himself, that it's going to be easy for him, - to find a job as a bartender with his prior experience in Virginia Beach and Peru.

When, Buck hear his phone ring for the second time since he got fired. He knows that his day just got a lot worse, when it's his father's number that appears on the screen.

Buck answers it with a sense of dread, knowing that the only reason that, his parents would call him - is if something happened to Maddie.

Buck, also doesn't waste any time to greet his father, who is on the other end of the line and asks immediately, what he wants to know.

"What happened to Maddie? Is she okay?"

Buck hears is father gulp and clear his throat on the other side of the line. Buck immediately, knows it's bad when, he doesn't get an immediate answer after a few seconds.

When, he does, the answer that he gets, it's what finally breaks him after the day, he had.

"Maddie was killed by Doug, Evan."

Unable, to hear more, Buck drops his phone on the bench and breaks down crying right then and there, in the firehouse locker room and now knowing that is day, just got way worse in a lot of ways, that he can't be bothered to think the implications of right now.

The only thing on his mind right now are the news of his sister death and the fact that it's Doug that killed her.

When, Bobby and his crew get back to the firehouse from the first call, they have since, he fired Buck. Bobby doesn't expect to find Buck, still in the firehouse by the time, they were done with call. He expect even less to find Buck crying/sobbing in the locker room by the time they got back from the call.

Bobby looks on dumbfounded and he thinks, that he might have underestimated, what would be Buck's reaction to getting fired. It isn't until he approaches and hears the name Maddie leaving Buck's mouth in between sobs, that he now understands that, getting fired is not what triggered this reaction in Buck.

When, Buck finally sees that Bobby is in the locker room with him, he doesn't stop crying, but definitely stiffens.

It's at that moment looking at Buck that, Bobby is shocked by how young and vulnerable the other man looks - and that he realizes that, he has never seen Buck like this. The only sides of Buck that he has seen are - his reckless side, his impulsive side, his protective side and his snarky side, but never his sad and vulnerable side. Which, Bobby doesn't think he wants, to see Buck wear this sad look on his face ever again. Because, he can see that, there is also grief in there, recognizing the look as the same he had, after he lost his wife and two children.

Before, Bobby can say anything to comfort Buck, Hen is already there and Buck is now currently crying out in her arms, while Chimney is at the entrance of the locker room blocking the way in, to prevent the others from going in and disturbing Buck in his moment of grief.

It's then, that Bobby notices Buck's phone on the bench and that said phone is still connected to a call with the caller ID showing the name Phillip Buckley, who Bobby knows is the name of Buck's father.

He decides to pick up the phone, but he hesitates between hanging up the phone or talking to Buck's father, until he finally remembers that Maddie is Buck's sister - and that by the look on Buck's face earlier and fact that he is now crying in Hen's arms, that the call Buck just received, was to inform him of her death.

Suddenly, Bobby is glad that hasn't started working on Buck's termination paperwork just yet. Because, he knows that Buck is going to need their support in the days and weeks that follow - and that Buck needs to be allowed the time to grieve, which he wouldn't be able to do that, while searching for a new job.

Later, when they find out about Buck possibly needing place to stay. Bobby, Hen and Chimney all offer him their homes for Buck to have a place to stay, in his time of grief and while he is searching for an apartment.

Later, when Buck is back in LA after the funeral and he is uncharacteristically different. Buck ends up spilling out about his childhood and about what he learned after the funeral  - a funeral, where they didn't even have Maddie's body, because of the way they think Doug killed her.

While, having an argument with his parents after the funeral, he learned about his older brother Daniel and about the fact that he is savior baby that was conceived to save his older brother, that his parents never wanted him and that they blamed Daniel's death on him.

This makes the Firefam angry and sad on the Buckley siblings behalf  - and to offer their support has a new familly to Buck, plus this makes both Bobby and Athena become more protective and parental with Buck.

Later, when Eddie starts working at the 118 and that Eddie becomes the first person to make Buck genuinely smile since his sister funeral and learning about Daniel.

The rest of the crew and firefam knows that the friendship/relationship/partnership between the two of them is going to be special.

Doubly so, when they see the two of them, interact with Christopher for the first time.

And Later, when Maddie turns up alive months after her funeral at the firehouse, the firefam do all that they can to support and take care of things, to make both Buckley siblings lives easier, to reassure them that they are safe, accepted and loved by the firefam.

But right now the only thing that is important is to comfort and support Buck in any way, that Buck will allow them to and the rest will come later.
