Work Text:

When you opened your eyes, you were disoriented. Not that it really is an unfamiliar feeling, since you reincarnated in the world of my hero academia, you have weird sensations.
It is also explained by the body you're occupying.
The first time you had opened your eyes into your new life, you had discovered you were now Kurogiri.
The villain with a teleportation quirk.
Well... if you had a choice, you would have avoided to be a villain, but being a Noumu, even an evolved one, you don't really have a lot of freedom.

All for One is not really kind with his creations.
Neither is the doctor.

You still have your own mind, but you also know to not openly defy the orders. Too risky for your sanity and mind.

You shiver just from remembering some of the tortures lessons you had to go through.

After being deemed “tamed”, you had the mission to raised Shigaraki Tomura. You knew from your previous life his real name is Tenko Shimura, grandson of the seventh user of One for All.
You didn't really wanted to make him a villain, so you did your best to raised him as a good citizen in the beginning... But soon enough, you still had to put him into the path of a villain.
You didn't even had needed a “lesson”, just the threat of having one had convinced you at that time.

Please, never again being torned appart and rearranged together.

Being unable to raised him properly is weighting heavily on your conscience. If only you were stronger. Braver. But you're no hero. Even if your original body was a hero in training, your spirit isn't.

So you did the second best thing: You raised Shigaraki with love.
You yourself had done some bad things to be able to afford what Shigaraki was asking.

You also followed the original timeline and opened your own bar to have legal funds.
It just happens that mostly villains and bookers came to your bar.
But, hey, money is money.

You think Shigaraki had changed a little compared to the original story.
He don't treated you like an underling, but like a big brother.
He looked up to you, come to ask for your protection and help, and he's also confiding to you.

You would had liked if he were to see you as a paternal figure, but with his past, it's maybe better that way.

You're certain he actually likes you, he had called you “bro” multiple times by accident.
Of course, you had glowed with relief and fondness when it had happened, but you had to scold him for calling you that.

If All for One had discovered that link, he would have lashed out on Shigaraki after “recalibrating” you.

Yet, Shigaraki must have seen you were happy when he called you that, since it happens quite often... And mostly when you were only the both of you.

He's really a great kid.

That you had tainted to be a villain.

Coming back to the present, you're actually seated and tightly restrained in a heavy wheelchair.

Raising your head you can see Present Mic and Eraserhead looking at you through a heavy glass.

Aaaah...
It's that time.

Your heart ache for them.
In the original story, Eraserhead's plea would have triggered a reaction out of Oboro... But here, you are using his body. Nothing will come out of this encounter... And you're so sorry for them.

Eraserhead is staring at you, unbliking.

Right, he's erasing your quirk, making you unable to flee.

Not that you really want to evade this place.
Sure you're worried for your charge and you're not very fond of being kept asleep, but you're way safer here than out there with the threat of AFO.

-”What a rare visitor I have,” you begin. It's true after all, after all this, both of them won't ever come back here to see you. You're not worth to waste time for, they have better things to do.

-”Didn't we last meet at the U.A. Invasion?” You weren't able to prevent that event to happen. AFO was getting impatient about Shigaraki's development as a villain. You had to act big... And... well... you knew from the original that nobody would die there. You were even able to prevent Eraserhead to have his head smashed to the ground this time. So his quirk is still at the top.

-”I KNEW YOU GUYS HAD IT ALL WRONG!!! HE'S GOT NOTHING IN COMMON WITH SHIRAKUMO.” Exclaimed Present Mic.

Indeed Present Mic. You aren't their dead old friend. You're just using his body.

-”How is Shigaraki Tomura? Is he well? I presume he's not captured.” You asked. In the original he wasn't captured after all, but maybe the slight changes you have made modified that fact.

To your relief, a stressed Present Mic is prone to act harshly and gave you the answer, even if in a roundabout way.

-”You're curious about Shigaraki?” Asked Eraserhead, more calm than his friend.

-”Indeed. Tending to him is my mission.” You answered truthfully. It IS what AFO ordered you to do. Even if you also enjoyed raising this little menace.

-”That's one crappy mission! Being forced to wipe that gloomy brat's butt all day long... YEESH!” Tried to taunt Present Mic.

Sorry beloved DJ, You didn't have to do that kind of things. You didn't had Shigaraki this young after all.

-”It did not pain me to do so. I like taking care of him.” You said in a calm voice.

You had hoped to crush their hope of finding any fragments of Oboro in yourself, but seeing Eraserhead's face, you must have failed.

It's true that Oboro had a thing of taking care of others, so you had narrowed down to only Shigaraki... Even if you also had a weak spots for animals. But you had avoid to said that.

You hate your situation right now, it pains you to see two of your favourite characters going through so much pain in front of you... And for nothing.
They won't get any informations from Oboro, since he's not here.
The police and Gran Torino are sadists. Heroes are still humans, why letting them go through something so hard?

Well, you should have answered their questions, but the threat of AFO is bigger than their weak attempt at making you talk.
You were brainwashed trained well.

Aizawa starts telling the story about Sushi, the cat he hadn't rescued but Oboro had.

-”I'm afraid I don't follow. Why have you come here, exactly?” You said in a grave tone.

Man... Please stop hurting yourself and just get out of here.
You can see Yamada is getting more and more uncomfortable.
No wonders why.

The police must see it triggers nothing on their screen.
Because there is nothing to trigger.
You have a lot of sympathy for both heroes. You also had memories about this from your past life... But it didn't go further than that.

Aizawa continue his story. Recalling about their past with Oboro. How he had helped him getting stronger.

You already know that, but... For your sake, please Aizawa, stop reminiscing.

-”I didn't know I looked like a priest. Have you mistaken this place for a confessional?” You tried to be harsher. You really want to stop him from hurting himself and Yamada.
Nothing good will come out of this meeting.
Not for them at least.

Yet Aizawa continue, talking about Oboro's jovial nature and self-sacrifice.
That part makes you shivers, the smoke around you wobbling.
You don't like death.
You had died once too. Even if you had the “chance” to come back in this world.
Not a good memory.
Don't think about it.

The talk turns now on how Aizawa and Yamada are now teachers. With Aizawa who had expelled the whole class last year before taking them back in too.
How he wants to make them live long life.

Seeing Shouta cry in real life is way more emotional than in the book or in the anime. You're having a hard time to stay stoic.

-”Shirakumo! If you're still in there, somehow... The three of us can still... be heroes together!” declared Shouta, brandishing his googles between us.

Your heart waver. Even after all that, even knowing his old friend isn't here anymore... He still hope to be heroes the three of them.
Oh Shouta.
Stop it.
You know that him and Hizashi had bad coping mechanism.
Yuuei is garbage with mental care. It's not new.
You wish you can cry yourself, but your body is already dead.
You can't give them what they want and it pains you so much. There is nothing that will came out of this.

You want to get out.
But Shouta. Just. Won't. BLINK!

He must be in so much pain with his dry eyes.
Even if he's crying right now.
Blink Shouta, please. Stop this torture.

-”WHO DID THIS TO YOU?!” Screamed Shouta. “WHERE DID THEY TINKER YOUR HEAD?

It's useless Shouta.
Take pity on yourself, please. You won't get anything from us.

-”I'm... not...” You stammered, ready to deny him. Flashes about young Shouta and Hizashi is appearing into your mind.
They were so young when you disappeared.
You had promised them to...

-”That day, haven't you felt anything seeing me?!” Continues Shouta.

He certainly refers to the USJ.
Of course you had felt something, that's why you had “inadvertently” sent a deffective Noumu instead of the one initially prepared.
That's why Shouta didn't had a fractured head this time.
That's also why you had fled with Shigaraki after seeing Hizashi at the entrance.
Fighting Shouta was already hard on yourself, you weren't able to bear to fight the both of them.
And it followed the original...
And Shigaraki was injured.
You...

You can't give them what they want.
Zashi, stop Shou I beg you.

-”What... are you... “ You had a hard time talking. Your voice strained.

You're giving them the wrong impression by being so emotionnal, but you can't help it.
They just won't stop begging for you.
For their old friend.

-”Shirakumo!” Both of them yelled.

Oh please. Not you too Zashi.
You had hoped that Zashi would have kept his skepticism and stop Shou from suffering so much.
You had to stop them then. Break their hopes.

-”I'm... Kurogiri”. You struggled to say, so close to tears that can't fall before them.

-”YOU WERE A MEMBER OF U.A.'S CLASS 2-A!” Cried Shou.

-”WE WANTED TO BE HEROES TOGETHER!” Continue Zashi in the same tone.

-”SHIRAKUMO OBORO!” Exclaimed both of your friends together.

-”You... both... are...” You stammered before stopping.

Your... friends?
But you... You aren't Oboro.

-”My name is Kurogiri.” You said in a blank voice. Saying it more for yourself now than for them.

-”I'm taking care of Tomura Shigaraki.” Yes, that's your mission. That's what you have to do since your death.

-”I don't understand what you mea...” Wait... how did you died again?

Crushed under a building.
No, that's not it. It's you, Oboro.
You were older when you died.
Older than Oboro, older than 15.
What was your name in your previous life?
How can...
How can you not remember?

What had happened?
How did you ended here?
With Shou and Zashi before you. Older. Heroes.
Calling you.
Like old times.
Before...
Before the...

-”Sho... hos... pital.” Before the hospital.

Who...

-”I … am?”
