There is a simple reason why Susan prefers a classful of children over a handful of siblings. The end of their day is the end of her day, and she can wave them off at the school gate with parents and nannies. She can count on not being disturbed in the middle of the night.
Amendment: by children. Mortals. You know. That sort.
The pillow remains over her head for principle's sake. It will surely be family, and it will surely be important, but her sleep.
Her shoulder is shaken again. Nothing for it.
She peeks out warily. "What now?"
