Zonnia: A Fusion Pokedex

Summary:

The Pokemon of the Zonnia Region are unlike anything you've ever seen before. Or, perhaps, they're like two different things you've seen before. At the same time.

Chapter 1: FAQ

Chapter Text

Final Pokedex Count: 150 + 9 Mega Evolutions

What's this then?

The Zonnia Pokedex is a writing challenge I'm undertaking, where I'll use a randomiser to pick two Pokemon and then create a fusion of them, writing a detailed Pokedex entry for each new Pokemon!

Each chapter will be an entire Pokemon line, all evolutions (usually) grouped together. Because of this, chapter size will vary, but smaller chapters will come out faster than larger ones, so it's fine!

My original plan was to write one Pokedex entry each day, but for my own sake I'm not actually going to promise that. But I do intend to work consistently on this, until I reach a point where I'm done.

When will that be? Hmm, when I think the Pokedex is good and full.

Zonnia?

Zonnia is the name of the Region these Pokemon I'm creating will inhabit! There are no grand plans for the Region design, instead I will develop it as I create Pokemon entries, where the Pokemon define parts of the Region and help design it according to their needs. In this way, I'll slowly build a complex world for the Pokemon of the Zonnia Region to call home, that is deeply interwoven with the very existence of those Pokemon!

It'll be fun!

Randomiser?

This one, specifically

Though I will admit, it's not one-hundred percent random. I'm fusing Pokemon lines, not individuals, so if I got a stage 1 and stage 3 Pokemon, what I'd instead be doing is creating fusions of their relevant equivalent stages, to create a line of 3 fused Pokemon.

Oh also, no doubles. If I've used a Pokemon before, I'm not going to use it again.

So what happens if I get two different Pokemon who have a different number of evolutions? I'll roll again. Or perhaps I'll record them and on my second roll look for another that matches up in evolution count. I haven't settled on it yet.

So there's a slight amount of validation before I start on a fusion, but it's still randomly driven overall.

Why the FAQ?

I wanted something on the front page before I got into the posting. Also I might expand it in future based on need. It's room to grow.

Before you Comment

I do have a personal request for anyone enthused to comment on these Pokedex entries. Firstly I'd love to hear your thoughts! Comments are always a wonderful way to help keep the motivation of fic writers high. However there's one kind of comment I'd like to ask you not to make.

This is a creative exercise for me, and I'm sure each time someone sees a fusion, they might have ideas as to what they'd do instead. It's great if you have those ideas! But please do not post them as comments on this fic. Responding to something I've written with the way you'd do it instead, and focusing on talking about the things you'd do instead of what I've written, doesn't help the author. Please try to avoid doing so.

Despite this request, I hope that those who read still find enjoyment in my work, and if you think of something you'd like to say about it, please do let me know!

Didn't you write Eldritch?

I did! Eldritch is a monstrously large retelling of Pokemon Sun and Moon, with elements from all games (normal and ultra), the anime, the manga, and also just a whole heap of my own imagination. If you find you enjoy my world-building in Zonnia, I think you'd enjoy Eldritch as well!
