“Push! You’re gonna be okay I promise!”

“I am kriffing pushing, Rose!” Rey screams loudly, her heart is racing and she's pretty sure this might be the most painful thing she's ever experienced.

She had defeated the Emperor Palpatine, helped the resistance against the First Order and yet nothing could have prepared her for being a mother. He was a miracle, truly. Rey had never told anyone the truth about how little baby Paul was conceived. She always said the force had simply granted her a gift.

Everyone seemed to believe her, except Rose. She saw through her lying. Rose was there for her during her pregnancy and on one not so particular night Rey had been found sobbing in her quarters, clutching a black shirt with a hole in it. It was then that Rose understood that the force hadn’t given her a child but that Rey had been with someone. Someone who either was gone or didn’t want to be involved. Rey told Rose everything, the dyad, the force bonds and how one thing with Kylo Ren lead to another and they embraced each other lovingly on Kef Bir after she healed him. How he had turned to the light and saved her and their unborn child’s life before passing away.

So nine months later, when she hears the cry of her child, Rey can't help but cry along with him. Rose and a medic droid were the ones to help her out for delivery.

Rey held her bundle of joy, he was 10 lbs exactly and born in the 20th hour of the cycle. He had a full head of hair, decently sized ears, pouty lips and hazel-green eyes that were wide open,to take in the galaxy for the first time. The medic-droid advised her to not stand up but Rey was never one to listen anyways. She gently held her baby in her arms and walked over to the star port. She pointed to the sky.

“The stars line up for you, Paul. It’s just you and me but we will be okay. Your daddy is watching over us. I know he is and I know he would love you so much.” She whispers as the quiet baby looks around. Rey has never felt so much love and joy all at once. It’s a different kind of love, one

that she has never known. She promises she will be there for her child unlike her parents. She will make sure he knows he is loved.

The medic droid takes Paul Skywalker-Solo away before she is set back to rest on her bed. Her rest goes well and a few hours pass by peacefully. Rose brings in Finn, who is holding a large Porg stuffed animal and a bantha steak burger. Rey is salivating, she had been advised to not eat too much meat during her pregnancy and while she had no idea why she missed the taste of a juicy greasy bantha steak burger.

Finn steps in. “It’s no trouble, Rey. I can feel you ready to say ‘you didn’t have to get this for me’ of course I did. You just had a baby! Let me see the little guy?” He asks looking around.

Rey swallows her food as she hiccups. “He’s sleeping right now he should be up for a feeding anytime soon I hope.” She sits up and gently picks up a sleeping Paul from the bassinet. “Hi my little prince.” She whispers. “This is your uncle Finn and aunt Rose. They’re your godparents..”

Finn tears up before reaching down for him. “I-I’ve never seen a baby before.” He whispers softly. “They’re very small…I mean he feels big for what I assume a normal human baby is but..still this is a human!” He laughs a bit and wakes Paul up, making him cry.

“Oh kriff, Uncle Finn didn’t mean to make you cry.” Rey gets up from her bed and takes him quickly from Finn's hands. “Uncle Finn is just being silly.” She says softly as she gently bumps her baby up and down. Paul calms down as Rey begins to let him feed.

“Gee thanks for the warning Rey!” Finn exclaims, covering his eyes. “You’re like my sister, I don't need to see all that!”

Rose hits Finn's arm. “You idiot she’s just feeding the kid.”

Rey rolls her eyes. “You didn’t even see anything you nerf herder stop being dramatic.” She scoffs. “I just need to feed my baby.” She gently latches Paul onto her before he begins to feed. “Good boy.” She whispers. “Is Poe here?” She asks looking up.

Finn shakes his head. “You know how he is..off doing Galactic Senate round ups. I was supposed to go with him but my godson was about to be born.” Finn smiles proudly. “He gives you congratulations and he can’t wait to meet this little surprise force baby.”

Rey looks to Rose for a second before reminding herself that to everyone else, Paul was simply made from the force and nothing else. It was hard to pretend Ben didn’t exist. Rey decides to shift the attention back to Finn.

“So you and Dameron..you’re talking a lot I see. Very handsy from what I’ve heard.” Rey slyly smirks as Finns eyes widen and his face brightens.

“I mean..y-yeah..we have been talking. Nothing official yet but..hopefully when he comes back I can tell him how I feel..I don’t even know if he swings that way.”

“Oh please! Poe swings it every way. You and I know that.” Rose interjects. “Plus we all know he totally flirts with you anytime you two are hanging out!”

“It’s true, he does stare into your eyes a lot.” Rey giggles to herself as she switches Paul from one breast to the other.

It takes a while for Finn and Rose to leave, not wanting to leave her alone by herself but Rey assures them she’s not alone. She has Paul.

Rey moves her rocking chair to the star port as she rocks Paul to sleep, singing him a lullaby she learned from the holonet. When she sees that Paul is safe and soundly asleep she smiles as she looks to the stars.

“We have a son, Ben. I know you’ll love him. Your story isn’t over yet it can’t be..” Her voice is filled with hope.
