Turning ten, which, as ridiculous as it sounds, turns your whole perspective in life around. At least that's what he experienced. For some who are lucky, they would see everything from a kids' point of view forever. He just so happens to be one of the unlucky. He had always been unlucky.
In other words, at the end of the day Stan Marsh still needed his best friend to help him. Even if it meant breaking the awkward barrier between them.
