Our Spot Where The Light Shines

Summary:

Dark Choco Cookie lives a good life.

He's the next heir to the throne of the Dark Cacao Kingdom, receiving wonderful treatment and grew up healthy and strong.

It's been a week ever since his 18th birthday and his father to send him out to the woods to hunt something down as proof that he can fend for himself. Let's just say he found something else..

Captivating.

Notes:

WAHAHAHA SO VERY SORRY FOR THE TRASHY SUMMARY I HAVEN'T POSTED IN SUCH A LONG WHILE ;((!

I really hope you enjoy dear readers! I'll make sure this series is consistent.

This is canon-divergent meaning that it is technically an AU but it also accomodates to canon events >:). Mostly in Kingdom tho (i'd also like to apologize for the formatting because I'm editing/posting on pc)

Once again, hope you enjoy your read!

Chapter 1: Prologue Chapter

Chapter Text

Church bells rang and the cookies of the Dark Cacao Kingdom rejoiced.

On this fateful day, the next heir to the throne was born. It was the first time Dark Cacao Cookie had ever smiled this wide, making his denizens cheer louder.

“Let us welcome Dark Choco Cookie, my son, to this kingdom!”

                                                                                                                …

“Dark Choco Cookie, are you ready to set out for today?” The cookie asked, purple eyes staring down at the teenage boy.

“Yes, father.” Dark Choco replied, his eyes trained at the velvet carpet he was kneeling on.

An audible hum of acknowledgement came from the older, Dark Choco Cookie only watched as he started pacing slowly in front of him.

“You’ve just turned 18 last week, and with these following days, I expect you to bring back an actual beast from the forest. That you captured all by yourself. Deers, birds, or more preferably, a cake hound.” Dark Cacao Cookie began, “A large one.”

Dark Choco gulped visibly. There was no way he could capture a large cake hound without any help. But, this is his father he’s talking to. Dark Cacao never and will have the word ‘impossible’ in his vocabulary.

“..Yes, father..” He muttered, a bead of sweat dripping from his forehead.

“Louder.” Dark Cacao commanded.

The cookie inhaled deeply and replied, “Yes, father.”

                                                                                                                   …

It was truly a bad idea to not have brought a torch with him. Grey skies added up to the monotonous color of the forest, the snow falling in unusually small portions today. Maybe because it was near Spring, and winter had just ended.

He huffed in frustration. Dark Choco had been circling this area for hours now, but still no signs of any creatures. He set up traps near spots his advisors had recommended to him, but still to no avail. Not one crunch from dead leaves and scattered twigs were made apart from his own footsteps.

Dark Choco sat down in defeat. Staring hard at the path of footprints he’d made whilst pacing around. He’d been contemplating on what to do now, since he couldn’t just go back to the castle empty-handed.

“If there aren’t any creatures to hunt down in your near-barren forests, try the greener forest, just outside of it! You might find something even better, young one!”

That's it!

‘Thank you, Aunt Hollyberry.. Your advice deems useful as always.’

Finally, the raven-haired cookie stood from his place, letting out an excited grunt. There’s still hope, and maybe he can get back in time for dinner.

Chapter Text

The fresh smell of flowers in bloom and earth welcomed Dark Choco with a hug. It had been such a long time ever since he’d come across such green surroundings. It was warm, but breezy. Trees shook their leaves, blowing with the wind.

Dark Choco shook his head. No, he must concentrate on the task at hand. The cookie kept his hands to his side, just where he could feel his sword. Who’s to know whether there’s a creature ready to pounce on him.

                                                                                                             …

Yet another hour has passed and still no signs of cakehounds or anything. Is he really that unlucky when it comes to hunting? Then again, he could never find a creature on his own without the help of his advisors scouting the area.

“Argh!” He stomped his foot on the ground angrily. This was proving itself to be harder than he had anticipated. How could he ever be the next king of the Kingdom if he couldn’t find at least a small bird or rabbit?

The loud rustling of leaves followed by the sound of a twig snapping in half disrupted Dark Choco’s epiphany. It was nearby! Surely that could be the presence of a beast. This was his time.

He fished his sword from its hilt, raising it slowly. Dark Choco looked left, right, up and down. Staying quiet all the while, just to see if the creature was to make another sound.

Chik!

Another twig snapping! Now Dark Choco was sure where the sound came from. The cookie slowly creeps toward a large bush, both hands gripping his sword firmly. Taking another gulp of air, he swung his sword sideways onto the bush.

“Gah!” A voice screeched.

Dark Choco immediately raised his head in confusion. Cakehounds or cakemonsters don’t make such sounds. He was very surprised with the appearance of a cookie rolling out of the bush, breathing heavily having just dodged his sword.

“Please, for the love of all the spirits present in the Forest, do not hurt me..” The cookie spoke.

He was rather lanky, and pink? Dark Choco thought only cookies from the Hollyberry Kingdom could get that pink. His clothing was rather peculiar too. Swirls of baby pink and white adorned him from head to toe.

“Forgive me, fellow cookie. I do not wish to hurt you. I had mistaken you for a cakehound.” Dark Choco started, slowly putting away his sword. “I take that you mean no harm to me either?”

The pink cookie looked at him immediately, a nervous smile immediately replacing his previously stunned one. “Of course not! There is nothing to worry about; I wield no weapons.”

Dark Choco nodded. Guess there was no cakehound. He let out a grunt, stressing over the fact that he not only would fail his father if he were ever to head back to the palace, he scared a defenseless cookie.

Sighing, he faced the cookie again, “I apologize. I’ll be on my way.” All of a sudden, he felt his heart clench just a little.

Looking back at him were orbs of soft pink, shining with how glassy his eyes were. Dark Choco had never seen eyelashes as long as his flutter so gently. Not once in his life had he seen anyone or anything this pretty.
