Chapter Text
At the bidding of his beloved, this Sesshomaru will find and bring his daughters to the tree of ages. Perhaps Setsuna has mastered her blood blade enough to sever the tie between Rin and Zero so that Towa can dispatch her once and for all. Towa…while I may not be able to sense her emotions as Rin can, I can sense that her inner Demon has unleashed and can smell the tears Rin refers to from here, which has only added to my own frustration of not being able to do much more for my family.
At this I increase my speed as I feel the Demon slayers are not far ahead. The boy Kohaku seems to notice my presence first and shouts to his men to stand down as I land slightly away from their group.
He quickly starts to call out to me, “Lord Sesshomaru what are you doing here?”
I ignore him as I stride up to my daughter and instead proposed the same question, I had a few weeks prior, “Yukari no Tachikiri, have you learned to wield some of its powers?”.
She, being the only one not peering at me wearily, replies with, “I have.”
I don’t acknowledge this and instead reply with, “Rin requests you and Towa’s presence in the Tree of Ages.” At this she only blinks but remains silent and still, so I continue with, “You will go to her.” She looks over my shoulder to whom I’m assuming is the Kohaku boy and responds with, “I will go. We are near Kaedes village, I will collect Towa and we will go to see Mother.”
“Towa is not in the village.” Is my reply. A quick look of questioning passes over Setsunas face, but before she can question further, I continue with, “She had been taken by Zero on the night of the New Moon.”
I observe multiple emotions pass through Setsuna’s face, shock, confusion, most notably fear. With wide eyes she responds louder with, “What?! How?!”. I respond with the only information that comes to mind with, “A spell of some kind”. This does little to assuage the clear concern I see on her face as she continues with saying, “The New Moon was two nights ago…if Zero has had Towa this long she…she might be…”. As she says her head is bowed, and I can hear and see her fist holding the Yukari no Tachikiri shake along with her voice. Suddenly the shaking stops and she whips her head up to meet my eyes and says, “Where has she taken her?!”. I can see the fear she had just been showing being replaced with a righteous anger and rage rapidly, and my inner Yoki rises to the increased Demon energy coming off her.
Not letting it show, I respond with, “You will not worry about this.”
Her demon energy increases even more, mimicking the heckles of a dog rising up, but before she can respond I continue on with, “Rin has requested your presence. You will go to her, and free her with your blade.”
At the mention of Rin, I see her scowl and steeled look dissipate as she blinks rapidly, and her grip on her naginata lessen before suddenly holding tight again before she says, “But what of Towa?!”.
I respond with, “This Sesshomaru will head to where I can sense Towa’s rising demon energy and bring her back to Rin as requested.”
She responds quickly with, “Towa is alive?? You’re sure??” I can see that her eyes have lessened in sharpness, and with this knowledge I can see that she’s relaxed slightly, again before she seems to come to realize something and responds with, “Wait, raising demon energy?”.
I acknowledge her question by replying with, “She is transforming, her yoki has been unleashed.”
The concerned look in her eyes is back before she responds with, “If her demon blood is taking over, she could cause true harm to anything or anyone around her, her choices are out of her control. I have to go to her as she did for me!”
Stronger this time as I am quickly losing my patience for this situation, “No. You will go to the tree of ages as Rin has requested.”
“But…”, as she’s about to begin another defiant speech, the boy Kohaku walks closer to us and says, “Setsuna you should listen to Lord Sesshomaru. Go to Rin, we will head to where Towa is and subdue her with Lord Sesshomaru and bring her back.”
“No.” I say, “Zero has taken her far East. You will not be able to accompany me in time and will just be a hindrance.” Not wanting to bother with any more of this interaction I continue with, “Setsuna, you are to take Kirara and go to Rin, once you sever her tie and have secured her safety may you depart to join us.”
Before she even gets a chance to respond I have lifted, off the ground and started a rapid pace to where I feel Towa’s demon energy. My eyes widen as I can now feel that it has doubled in size, her energy similar and calling to mine. I feel concern spike in my chest knowing that as a hanyo her body is unable to withstand releasing and maintaining so much demon energy before it starts to break apart. My concern turns into rage, and I feel my own vision starting to redden as I get closer to the area when not only can I sense her increasing demon energy, but I can clearly smell the salt of tears and hear the laughing from Zero and her companion.
I let out a hum, and fight back my own transformation, and increase my speed to the fastest I have ever flown, vaguely hearing Jaken yelling as he clings to my waving moko moko.
I can hear Rin's sad words again, “Sesshomaru-sama, Towa is crying”
This Sesshomaru must hurry.
