Oblivious

Summary:

Lucifer's about to lose his cool with how oblivious MC is to Barbatos's feelings for them.

Work Text:

“Lord Diavolo and Barbatos must really like hearts, huh?” MC spoke as they lifted their teacup to their lips and took a sip from it. The tea was exactly how they like it, they noted and hummed happily.

Lucifer sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. The demon shook his head. “No, they don’t.”

MC lowered the teacup with pink hearts decorating it and onto the heart-shaped saucer. “What do you mean, they don’t? There’s always hearts on the teacups and they’re different each time, too.”

“Barbatos only serves those when you’re here, MC,” Lucifer said with exasperation. “He buys new cups every single time, too.”

MC tilted their head. “Why would he do that?”

Lucifer took a sip of his tea to prevent himself from yelling out. He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. “Why do you think Barbatos would serve you teacups with hearts on them whenever you visit, MC? Why would he do that with only you?”

“Because he thinks I like hearts! Or he thinks humans like hearts!” MC pulled out their DDD. “Do you think he serves Solomon teacups with hearts, too?”

“How are you this blind?” Lucifer whispered to himself and nearly slapped his forehead out of agitation.

“Pardon the interruption,” Barbatos sounded. “I thought these may pair well with your tea, MC.” Barbatos placed down some heart-shaped cookies in front of MC.

“Awe, they’re so cute,” MC cooed. They looked up at Barbatos with a small smile. “Thank you, Barbatos.”

Barbatos stiffened and his cheeks flushed ever so slightly. “You’re very welcome, MC,” he spoke softly before he hurried off.

“Why would Barbatos give you heart-shaped cookies and not me, MC?” Lucifer questioned. He leaned forward, trying to pull the correct answer from them.

MC looked at the cookies and then at Lucifer. “You don’t like sweets?”

Lucifer stood up and walked out of the room.
