‘Yellow, bright like the sun means I’m having fun’ was the sentence that replayed in Gordon's Head as he watched Benrey’s head appear above the water. He had a grin on his face and hair sticking to it too. Gordon just smiled back at the other looking down at them from the dock he stood on.
He had no plan on going in the water. It was too late at night and the water was probably freezing.
“Having fun in there?” Gordon asked, giving a slight chuckle when Benrey gave another stream of yellow in response. He watched as they swam around in the water a bit more before dunking their head under and disappearing.
It wasn’t until a couple of seconds later when he felt cold wet arms wrap around his legs from the back pulling him off the small dock which he stood on. That he was greeted by the other once more. The last thing he heard before plunging into the water below was his own yelp of surprise and the mischievous laughter of Benrey’s.
He wasn’t wrong about the water being freezing; it sent a shock through his body as he hit it before plunging under, not daring to open his eyes in fear of salty water assaulting them like it did his other senses. He felt his body sink deeper and deeper before arms wrapped around his torso pulling him above.
He gasped for air and coughed a bit before wrapping an arm around the other’s shoulder looking at him.
“Benrey what the fuck” he asked, the other just cackled in response. Gordon pulled away from him before putting both hands on their shoulder trying to push them underwater in response to the other laughing.
He was only partially successful before getting pulled under himself once more. When they both came back up they had grins on their faces. Yellow sweet voice floating in the air.

The ride home from the beach was peaceful, the radio blared some 70’s lite rock and the sound of crickets could be heard. After pulling into the driveway they were both quick to enter the house trying to not track much water or sand throughout it.
Quiet laughter filled the air as they joked around while showering. Sand washing off. The rest of the night after that was like any other setting alarms for the morning and turning the lights off and crawling into bed. Sharing soft goodnights and I love you’s before drowsy eyes began to close and fall softly into slumber.
He dreamt of sunny days, yellow sweet voice, Benreys smile and laughter filling the air the others smiling face still on his mind as he awoke to his alarm clock reminding him was time to get ready for the day.
It came to mind again at the breakfast table once again caught up in old memories of the other, the same words repeating in his head over and over like a mantra. He always wanted to see that smile he thought to himself before snapping back to reality. Benrey looking at him spitting meaningless sweet voice in his face.
“Bbbb... Earth to feetman? You even there?”
Gordon just gave a weak smile in response before speaking up. “Y-Yeah just lost in thought”
“Gordon thinkman over there thinking too hard. What’re you even thinking about thinkman?” Gordon chuckled at that before responding
“Nothing just about going out later” he lied but gave a smile as he watched the other's face light up and grinning saying how they should stop by GameStop if they were going out. Yeah, he thought to himself he definitely always wanted to see the others smile.
