Chapter 1: Roe your boat

Chapter Text

Neil shifted in his seat, cold air behind his neck, goose bumps already forming.

The room was silent. Still. In a somewhat unnerving way that made him even more nauseous then he already had been, if such a level of nausea even existed.

It travelled throughout him, sending a chill through his spine. The positive pregnancy test sat heavy in his left pocket, as if made from gold instead of cheap plastic.

He’d kept it in his underwear drawer amongst his briefs for weeks attempting to come to terms with the results, but everytime he did, his stomach would churn so harshly he would end up puking all over his roommate, Clarence's plants. He envied Clarence sometimes.

Being a extremely fertile omega always had its risks but Clarence would never have to worry about being impregnated. He wished he was a beta too. It took him 10 weeks to convince himself to go to the doctor and confirm the pregnancy, despite the fact that deep down he knew.

He knew he couldn’t deny it. He knew he was already pregnant.”Mr. Gorsuch?” A voice beckoned him to the sign in desk where a perky women sat. She handed him a sturdy clipboard and pen. “Sign here sir.”

Shakily, Neil signed his name on the dotted line and received a pleasant smile from the front desk lady. “Dr.Barrett will see you now sir.” Neil swallowed hard and nodded as he made his way to the door. “Oh but sir-“ the front desk lady handed him a small patch.

“Wear this.” His hands ghosted over the film that covered the patch before he carefully put it over his scent glands. The sticky fabric burned his already irritated glands.

The front desk lady gestured towards the door and he hesitantly reached for the handle, creating a loud squeak as it opened.

A alpha women sat in front of him, wearing pearl earrings and what he perceived as a insincere grin. Neil knew Dr.Barrett quite well, and the two carried a lot of friction, but he didn’t have the money to find another provider in the area. “Neil! Lovely to see you again.”

She said through gritted teeth gripping her clipboard. Neil hesitantly made his way onto the examining table, cringing at the sound of crumpling paper. “Yeah… good to see you too Amy… I guess. “ Amy narrowed her eyes but continued to smile condescendingly. “We’re in a professional environment Neil.”

Neil coughed into his fist and straightened his back. “Yeah sorry… dr. Barrett.” Amy looked at her clipboard. “So are you here for diet pills because I’m kinda not supposed to-“ Neil slammed his hands down on the paper. “Why would you think that?!”

Amy bit the tip of her pen. “You’re just looking a bit… is chubby the word? No. Sorry. Fat. Your looking a bit like a fat cow.” Amy spat, smirking. Neil balled up his fists. “What, calm down Neil. Just stating the obvious, geez. Obesity is on the rise. Your still with Trump right? Can’t believe he’s tolerating this.” Neil let his hands collapsed onto the paper.

“Look Amy-“ “Dr.Barrett.” She corrected. Neil sighed. “Look Dr.Barrett. I’m here for an pregnancy test. Just do your job, ok.” Amy started laughing hysterically. “You can’t afford a child.” Neil looked down at his lap silently and Amy wiped a tear from her eye. “

Why didn’t you just take a pregnancy test. Those things are like 99% effective.” Neil scratched his arm. “I did.” Amy raised an eyebrow. “And?” Neil got quiet, looking down into his hands. His shifted on the balls of his feet, refusing to look her in the eyes.“Positive.” Amy shrugged ans scribbled on her clipboard.

“Well there’s your answer then. Your pregnant.” Neil abruptly stood up. “What?! Aren’t you going to run any tests?” Amy shrugged. “Nope. That would be a total waste of time and resources.” Neil stomped. “Why?”

Amy rolled her eyes at him and scoffed. “Believe me Neil, as much as I’d love to bill you for 1,000 dollars, which is what will happen if you get that test. I can tell, I tell people their pregnant every single day. It’s my job. Besides I can smell it, even through your patch.”

Neil quickly brought his scent glands and narrowed his eyes. “Well what are my options?” Amy laughed. “Options.” Neil moved on the balls of his feet. “I can’t really afford time off work or anything soo…”

Amy’s eyes widened and she stood up. “You’re not really considered an abortion, are you Neil?” Neil looked at the floor and gripped the hem of his shirt. “I mean.. it’s not like I have a choice. I don’t want a child. I can’t afford one. And male omega pregnancies have a high chance of damaging-“ tears pricked his eyes, “hell, even killing the host.” Amy furrowed his brow.

“That would make you a murderer. By your own words. Remembered when we through water balloons full of cows blood at those omegas at that planned parenthood? You said, and I quote, “omegas who get abortions are murderers. No matter what. And they’d go to hell.”

Neil sniffed and swallowed hard. Amy sighed. “Why don’t you go to Trump? He’s your sugar daddy right? You were sleeping with him.” Neil rubbed his arm. “We broke up…. He said he’d never give me another penny. Ever. And you know he has the best lawyers.”

Amy sat back down slowly. She looked down at her clipboard for a long minute, and bumps stood up on Neils oily skin. “Even if I approved- which I never would, abortion is haniss and you were asking for this by being a whore-“ “I’m not a-“ Amy sighed and put up a abrupt hand. “Shut up Neil, and sit down.”

Neil backed away and sat back down, the paper crinkling beneath his weight once again. “Even if I approved, and wanted to help you, I couldn’t. Abortion is illegal in this state. So unless you got a close hanger and some faith in god-“ she grinned up at him cynically, “you’re screwed.”

Tears began to pour down Neils cheeks and he abruptly stood up, running out the room and swinging the door open. He passed the nice front desk lady who held out an arm for him but he kept running.

Running until he was outside the building and panting. He heard a crack of thunder behind him and his clothes began to become wet. But not from his tears. The heavy rain flowed down his back and he collapsed to his knees, crying into a puddle.
