Chapter Text
Len looked himself in the mirror, fixing his ponytail. It was the first day of grade 10, but it just seemed more like a drag to him. As long as he got his work done and got to hang out with his friends, everything was fine. Although explaining to the teacher that he's a boy always took a while, but usually his teachers understood. I mean, if you looked him from a distance you wouldn't be able to tell, yet if you were next to him, it was still somewhat obvious.
Obvious that he was born a girl.
Not like most people cared, and all his friends said he passed, so he didn't beat himself up too much over it.
“Len! Let’s go, we’re late!” His sister, Rin, called from downstairs. He grabbed his backpack and they both ran hurriedly to school. Rin and Len were put in separate classes, so luckily she couldn’t annoy him the entire day. He was speeding down the hallways when he bumped into Piko.
”Ow!” They both yelled in unison.
”Oh shit, hey Piko.” Len tried to act calm, but it seemed like he was literally going to explode.
”Len? What are you doing here? Class doesn’t start until 8:30, and it’s only 8:01…”
Len almost screeched. Rin had lied to him, or in her words, a “prank”. He fished his phone out of his pocket only to find out it was dead. While he was muttering profanities towards a nowhere-to-be-seen Rin, Piko tried to calm him down.
”Better to be early than late, right…? Let’s go find Flower and Fukase.” Piko led him through the unfamiliar halls in search of their friends, eventually finding them sitting in the cafeteria. Flower and Fukase were sitting on opposite sides of the bench, facing each other. Flower waved at them, and Fukase turned around to wave too. As Piko was greeting Flower, Len threw down his bag on the floor, which sent pieces of paper flying everywhere, and sat down next to Fukase.
”Hey, Len.” Fukase grinned. Len stared at him.
Damn, did his voice get a bit deeper? Len thought. And he got a haircut too?
“Heyo, earth to Len?” Fukase waved his bandaged hand in front of his face, trying to get his attention. The blonde nearly jumped out of his seat.
”Oh! Hey! It’s been a while…” Len was screaming internally, this was probably the most embarrassing thing that had happened to him in a long time. Fukase turned his entire body to face Len, asking him about the summer and any wacky things he did since they haven’t caught up in a few months. As they were talking, Len’s head was busy trying to figure out how the hell Fukase got a glowup before he did. The first warning bell rang, signifying it was 10 minutes before class started.
“What class are you in?” Len asked the redhead.
”10B.”
”That’s my class too.”
Fukase smirked.
”Then we should walk to class together, no?”
