Work Text:
War and Tragedy, concepts that go hand in hand like a well-rehearsed dance to an endless song.
War, a symbol of blood and sacrifice and loss. He hides his face in hopes to spare those of his curse, but many still search and seek out his blessings for greed despite his best efforts to stay hidden. He wishes for a peace like no other but yet just as similar, only because it would be long lasting but still selfish.
Tragedy, the outcome of many things, especially of war. Lives lost and greed overconsuming only fuels her sorrow and sympathy for those who unknowingly speak her name in place of War’s with each misdeed. She sings for the voices lost, both already passed and still alive, in hopes of preserving their humanity one last time. She never once blames War himself, for he too is only the inevitable for certain acts.
Though they both find themselves in smaller, miniscule notions as well. Ones that do not speak of greed or of gain, but of selflessness. For there is tragedy in sacrifice, as a person will do many things for the ones they love. And there is war in preservation, fighting to keep oneself intact. These acts are just as sad, but for a different reason. They are a change in pace, much slower than the march of a battle, but still so scarce in the span of eternity.
It is during these times that War reaches out without prompt, ready to guide, and when Tragedy changes her sorrow melody to something more befitting such a heartfelt deed.
