Chapter Text

Chapter One

It has been so quick; Steve leaving and the pardon, the push to cut his hair and be like the old James Buchanan Barnes. He had just gone along for the ride. What choice did he have? He had already been thrown into lockup for missing one session. Sure, he had ignored all the reminders on his phone and Doctor Raynore had called him, but he had been busy. Now Sam has taken the shield and become Captain America. Bucky was now alone.

It had been months since he had last seen Sam face-to-face, and he missed him. Not that he would ever tell the other man. He toyed with his phone, his metal thumb running along his bottom lip before slipping it into his mouth. He froze for a second before forcing himself to put it down, sliding the hand under his thigh so he wouldn't start sucking the metal. Who ever thought the deadly Winter Solider was a little? the only people that knew where gone. His parents, Becca and Steve, as well as the few scientists who recognized Hydra. Alexander Pierce hated it, slapping him and calling him names if he ever dropped around him. Surprisingly, Rollins was the one who often noticed and hid him away, putting him in a room with his old teddy bear, which by now was long gone.

"Stevie," he mumbled as he pictured the worn bear with missing eyes and torn paws. Shaking his head, he came back to himself. He didn't have time to drop; he had things he needed to do. Yori was meeting him for lunch today. The younger man had reached out to Bucky a week after his confession. He had spoken about how he mourned what happened, but he understood it was not Bucky's fault. Bucky had tried to argue, but Yori had waved him off.

"I do not blame you. But you pay for lunch if such a bother."

Bucky chuckled a little at that and stood. He felt he would be gone without that man. He had often struggled to find a reason to still be around. Leah had also become somewhat of a friend once she got over him walking out on their date. They would often eat together. Yori was now thinking about who to try and set Bucky up with for dates. Bucky just didn't have the heart to tell him that he was a full little. He didn't find the idea of sex appealing. He knew he should be looking for a caretaker, but he told himself over and over that he didn't want one, and sometimes it was that he didn't deserve one.
