Chapter Text
Genny knocked on Tamara’s door and the teen turned to the door in surprise. “Genny, what are you doing here?” She asks her.
“Well I heard about the kidnapping, and I came down here. I’m so glad that you’re ok, you really had me worried there for a minute. And this little man, has being asking to see you since he got up this morning” says the redhead, pushing the stroller inside the hospital room.
“Tam Tam” Levi shouts happily, when he finally sees her.
“Hi little man, are you ok?” She asks concerned.
“I’s ok. I mised you” he says with a pout. He points to her arm in a sling. “Ouchie.”
“Yeah it hurts, but the doctors gave me some good medicine” she tells him, with a little smile.
“Where’s Angela? I thought she was staying with you, while Lucy got some rest” Genny wonders out loud.
“I sent her to get me some real food, i couldn’t stomach the green gunge a nurse brought by earlier” replies the girl. “Where’s Tim?”
“He should be talking to Lucy. He’s realized some things. I helped him figure out what he wants and what he needs to say. So hopefully they find some common ground.”
“Why do I get the feeling, that I missed some stuff while I was unconscious?” Asks Tamara curiously.
“Oh because you did” replies Genny, evasively.
“Ok, spill. Whatever you know?” Orders the teenager.
“Lucy and Tim had an argument and she sent him away—not wanting him to come back. She’s thinking of leaving the police force and Tim admitted to me that he loves her. He’s just been so conflicted about it, because they work together” Reveals Genny.
“WHAT!! Geez Louise. I know Lucy doesn’t have much to do if she goes back to school to finish her degree and Tim! Oh man finally! So what’s his plan?” Asks Tamara.
“Right now he only has one goal. He’s just trying to get her forgiveness. Everything else will come later and I told him that I’d help him.”
“Well despite me being mad at him, I hope they work it out. They make a great couple” she tells Genny.
The redhead nods in agreement.
——
Hours later
Tamara was bored, deeply bored. Genny had taken Levi home, he needed to have his afternoon nap and truth be told Tamara needed one too. Those pain meds really took everything out of you.
She had called Lucy, telling her not to come straight back as she was trying to get some sleep. However after an hour or two she was awoken by visitors walking in the halls.
Then she was once again interrupted by a knock at the door. She looks over to see Tim standing there, at the door with a bag of cupcakes.
“Hi Dadford, you missed Genny and Levi they came by earlier.”
“Oh that was nice, that they stopped by. Hey T. How are you feeling?” He asks concerned.
“I’m sore, a little loopy. But I’m still here thankfully” she replies with a smile.
“Good. I don’t want to imagine the alternative.” Tim murmurs.
She nods. “I hear that you went to talk to Lucy, how’d that go?” She asks him.
“Pretty well. She listened, which is more than I hoped for. Now I need to earn her forgiveness. I love her Tamara.” He confesses.
She smiles happily. “Finally....I’m glad you came to your senses.”
“I’m glad that you where there to give me the hard truths. You mean a lot to me Tamara.”
The girl nods. “You and Levi mean a lot to me too. Just because I was mad at you, it doesn’t mean that I stopped caring. Lucy, and you gave me the first real family that I’d had in a long time. That’s what made this whole situation so hard” she says, with tears rolling down her cheeks.
Tim squeezes her hand. “I’m sorry, Tamara. I will make this right, I promise. I do have some good news” he mumbles.
“Oh, yeah. What is it?” She asks curiously.
“Wesley called me earlier, they’re dropping Spence’s petition for custody and moving ahead with the adoption” he admits to the girl.
“Yeah?” She asks both happy and relieved.
Tim nods emphatically. “Yeah, he’s my boy.”
“Yeah he his” she says happily. “So can I have a cupcake now?”
Tim chuckles softly. “Yeah, I’m surprised that you lasted this long” teases Tim.
“Well I am injured and hopped up on pain meds, Dadford. You really shouldn’t be teasing me” the girl complains.
He smirks at the girl fondly. “Oh sorry, my mistake. So I got you little of everything—I know how much you love these things.” He says referring to the cupcakes.
“Thank you, it means a lot. Sugar helps the healing process, you know” she tells him, that was one of Tamara’s truths which had no science to back it up.
Tim rolls his eyes affectionately. “I did not know that. And you're welcome.”
——
Lucy walked along the hospital corridor, her mind was still working overtime over recent events.
A young boy had dropped his teddy bear and she bent down to pick it up for him, once the boy had his bear she turned bumping into a taller person.
“I’m sorry” she says regretfully.
“It’s ok Lucy” he replies, she looks to see that it was Tim, who she had bumped into.
“I was picking up his bear” she tells him awkwardly.
“Yeah, I know. I saw before it was too late, before I could avoid—” he replies.
“So you saw Tamara?” She asks him.
He nods. “I brought her some cupcakes to cheer her up” he says casually.
“That was a nice idea.” After a moment, Lucy shifts awkwardly from one foot to another. “I guess I’ll see you later.” Then she starts walking towards Tamara’s room.
“Lucy” he shouts after her, causing her to turn around.
“When Levi’s adoption goes through, I’m going to have a little party. It would be nice if you and Tamara would come” he says hopefully.
She smiles softly at him. “That sounds nice, we’ll be there.” Lucy promises.
Tim smiles happily and watches her leave.
——
“Hey Lucy, you look better, more rested” murmurs Tamara from the bed.
“Thanks kid. I needed it” she replies honestly.
“You just missed Tim, he brought me cupcakes.”
“I actually just saw him. Well I bumped into him” says Lucy.
Tamara smirks. “Oh, how did that go?”
“It went ok. He’s gonna have a party for Levi once the adoption goes through. He invited us” she reveals.
“Oh cool. I think we could all use a little party” the girl replies. “So, anything you want to tell me?”
“Tim told me that he loves me and I’m going back to school, to finish my degree” Lucy confesses.
Tamara raises her eyebrows in surprise. “Are you sure about school? Because I support whatever you decide.” She asks in concern.
“Yeah, I’m tired T. I want to settle down and become a mother” she says truthfully.
The girl smiles. “You’re a great mother. Tim’s a great dad too....” she veers off.
“Ok, ok. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves ok. We’ve just started talking again and addressed our issues” Lucy reminds her.
“I know but you’re both in love. I’m counting down the days until we’re all officially a family.” The girls says hopefully.
“I think we’re a long way from that” remarks Lucy.
——
3 weeks later
Over the past 3 weeks, Tim had sent Lucy flowers every day, including Sunday’s. He had yet to miss a day. Her apartment was starting to look like a florist.
“Hey Lucy, so it’s your last day!” Tim says casually, as they walk into Division together, one last time.
Lucy nods. “Yeah, I’m ready to embark onto my next adventure.”
“Well, I’ll miss you. You are by far the best rookie I’ve ever trained” he tells her truthfully, without a doubt in his voice.
She smiles gratefully. “Thank you, Tim. And you can stop sending me flowers, my apartment looks like a florist” she admits.
“You’re welcome. And I can’t.....I need to keep going, to make up for all the days that we didn’t speak.”
“Well, I absolve you of all that. Tim you’ll go broke buying me flowers everyday” she admonishes him playfully.
He scoffs. “I get a good deal on those flowers actually, don’t even worry about it Lucy.”
Lucy rolls her eyes in exasperation.
“Oh Levi’s adoption went through, he’s now legally my son. Paul Spence has been extradited back to Spain, Wes struck a deal with the Spanish authorities and Spence wouldn’t be leaving prison until his late seventies” he says happily.
“That’s great, I know we’re at work but can I hug you?” Lucy asks him.
“I’d be offended if you didn’t” he replies elated.
Lucy envelopes him in a tight hug. “I’m so happy for you guys” she says against his ear.
Tim shivers feeling her hot breath against his skin.
They both pull away feeling slightly embarrassed.
“So you ready to hit the streets together, one last time boot?” He asks her.
She smirks. “I’m not your boot, Tim.”
Tim rolls his eyes. “Oh expect a invitation in the mail from Genny. She said that I had to do it properly.” He complains.
“She’s just being nice and supportive” Lucy assures him.
Tim changes the subject. “So are you still seeing that Josh guy?”
“No I broke up with him when Tamara was released from hospital.”
“I haven’t seen Gwen since that night. I called her explaining, that it wasn’t going to go anywhere” he reveals, wanting to be honest, like he had said.
Lucy looks at him nervously.
“Would you like go out with me, on a date?” He asks hopefully.
“I would like that” she replies as they make their way to their respective locker rooms.
