Cole honks his horn loudly as he furrows his brows deeper, frustrated.
“You gotta be fucking shitting me right now.”
Just up ahead Cole, who is sat angrily inside his signature earth driller car, lies a bunch of unmoving vehicles all around him. None of which are even remotely close to moving.
Cole grunts in frustration and checks the time.
9:45 pm. The clock reads.
“Fucking hell.” He says as he honks again, knowing it won’t help get the traffic moving but doing it regardless. “I left the monastery 45 minutes ago!” He yells to himself in anger.
Cole sighs.
He sits and bites his bottom lip as he thinks to himself, “Fuck it.” He says.
Cole fiddles with the handle of the door until it opens.
He jumps out of the vehicle and begins to run past all the cars that still, remain unmoving.
He runs and he runs and he runs. Then he jumps onto a car and begins to leap from one car to another.
He gets a few honks and curses from the drivers as he leaps.
“Sorry! Sorry! Excuse me! Pardon me!” He yells, not looking back for one second.
Finally, he’s left with having to jump onto the full speed moving cars from below.
Cole closes his eyes and takes a big deep breath. “Here goes nothing.”
And he jumps.
Cole squeezes his eyes shut tightly, expecting the worst. But soon feels his fall being broken by familiar steel material used on a generic car.
“Yes!” He yells in victory. “Thank fuck.” Relief washes over him immediately.
Cole looks up to see the car headed just where he needs to go. He checks the time again.
9:55 pm. Reads the small device on his wrist.
“Shit shit shit. Come on come on come on.” He says anxiously.
Once he’s where he needs to be, Cole jumps off the car and runs onto the sidewalk. Finally being close to reaching his destination.
Cole runs like his life depends on it. Not letting his knees give out on him even if they tried.
He begins to partially see the familiar restaurant that he and the others have been to countless times throughout their time together.
He looks down at his wrist again.
9:59 pm.
“Fuck!”
He runs as fast as he can, almost getting run over in the process and getting loud honks directed towards him.
He sees a familiar figure from afar, locking the door of the restaurant securely.
“Wait!” He yells.
The familiar figure turns around quickly.
“Cole?” The redhead asks as her face twists in confusion.
Cole finally stops right in front of her and pants.
“Skylor- I need, I need your help.” He says between pants and hands on his knees as he over trying to catch his breath.
“What’s wrong? Is ninjago in danger again? Do you need my help? Is my father back? Is Garmadon back?” She asks full of concern, flipping through every scenario in the book that she can think of.
“None of that,” He says finally catching up to his breath. “I need- I need Kai’s usual.”
“What?”

Cole sits patiently at the counter of Chen’s Noodle House. Shaking his leg anxiously as he smells the steam of the food from a distance.
He checks the time once again.
10:27 pm
Cole sighs. He runs his hands over his face and into his long dark hair.
He suddenly feels a bag being placed in front of him and looks up. “Alright, here’s one regular order of Chen’s famous noodles, an order of sushi, three ingredient sizzling rice, aaand-” She places the last bag in front of Cole, “A cake, on the house.” She smiles as she winks.
“Thanks Skylor, you’re a lifesaver, I owe you one.” He says grabbing all the contents.
“Wouldn't be the first time one of you ninjago-saving ninja owed me.” She says cockily.
Cole laughs nervously, “That’s true.” She giggles at his reaction.
“Relax, it's no problem, anything for a friend.” She says earnestly.
“Thanks again, but I really gotta go now. Kai’s waiting for me. Remember, if you need anything you can always count on us.” He says as he turns around.
“Hey Cole?” She says before he can fully step out of the restaurant.
He turns and raises his eyebrows at her anticipatedly. “Yeah?”
“You’re a really good boyfriend.” She says, giving him a bright smile as she wipes down the counter.
Cole just looks down at his feet and smiles back shyly.
“Tell Kai I said to take it easy.” She finishes off.
“I will, thanks again, bye!”
Cole rushes out of the restaurant satisfied.

Cole sighs as he finally makes it back to the monastery with less complications.
He runs straight to the red ninja’s room.
He opens up the door to see the boy laying in bed. Loose fitting red pajamas draped over him while he plays Prime Empire.
Kai looks up a bit startled and wide eyed at first but relaxes when he sees who it is.
“Baby I am so- so so sorry,” He begins as he makes his way towards the bed with all the contents of food. “There was a shit ton of traffic and I wasn’t moving at all for like 40 minutes but then I just jumped out of the car and ran straight to Noodle House-” He settles down the food on the bed as he continued, “And managed to make it right when Skylor was about to close and she was nice enough to open back up and make all this to kudos to her really- but anyways I’m so sorry I took so long I-”
But before he could finish, he was pulled by the collar of his shirt and before he could process any of it, his lips were on Kai’s.
He finally relaxed into the kiss and eagerly kissed back, resting his hands on the smaller boy's waist.
Kai breaks the kiss and presses their foreheads together. “You’re an idiot, you know that right?” Kai says fondly.
“So I’ve been told.” He smiles back.
“But you’re also a really good boyfriend.” He says tenderly.
Cole flushes pink at the words.
Kai pulls away. “You know you really didn’t have to do all this right? I would’ve been fine without it.”
“One of my basic jobs as a boyfriend is to make sure my boyfriend gets all the period cravings he desires no question.” He says matter-of-factly.
Kai rolls his eyes fondly. “You’re a dork.”
“You love it.”
“Maybe I do,” He begins “Or maybe, I’m just using you to have someone to always get me the best noodles in ninjago.” He says opening up the takeout bag.
“If that’s really what you’re using me for, then I’m happy to be of service.” He says admiringly.
“You’re whipped.”
“Maybe I am.” He says mocking his words. “But you are too.”
“Yeah… I am.” He says admittedly as he stuffs the noodles into his mouth.
He sighs in relief.
“Good?” Cole asks with a brow up.
“Very. As always.” He says between chews.
“Good.” He says smiling endearingly at the chestnut-haired boy.
“Thank you.” Kai said bashfully.
“No need to thank me, love. Need anything else? More pads, tylenol, heating pads, blankets?” The raven haired boy asks considerately.
“Cuddles.” Kai says simply.
“That, I can do.” Cole says positioning himself into the bed ready to oblige to the smaller boy’s commands.
They spent the rest of the night sharing the food (though most of it going to Kai of course) and playing video games until ending off the night with Kai laying on his chest as they watched a movie.
“I love you.” Kai utters against his chest sleepily.
“I love you more.” Cole says adoringly as he places a gentle kiss atop his head.
Cole might be a really good boyfriend, but so was Kai.
Which is why Cole would do anything and everything every single day of their lives together to make sure he knew.
And so he did.
