The Curse of Knowing

Summary:

Gregory's home is now the Pizzaplex. But, even though there is no longer the threat of evil rabbits to harm anyone, living in the Pizzaplex has its own set of problems.

Chapter 1: Security Breach

Chapter Text

Once I snuck into the Parts and Service room undetected, I hid in a corner of the room behind several boxes of supplies. The only people I saw were Gregory, Freddy, and Bonnie, so I decided to listen in on their conversation.

Bonnie chuckled, “You mean the thing with Vanny being a combination of the night guard’s name and bunny? I mean, it’s pretty funny wordplay…”

Gregory explained, “Yeah, I guess, but I really should’ve seen it coming! Like the thing with their names should’ve been a dead giveaway, like a cliche movie plot twist or something…”

Bonnie reassured him, “Aww, it’s okay, I don’t blame you. With you being much more focused on surviving and fixing me up the whole entire night, it’s understandable that you weren’t really thinking about it. Whenever there’s something stressful that’s worrying you, it can be really easy to forget stuff that seems obvious in hindsight. And I completely get that feeling, kiddo.”

Freddy added, “But we do not need to worry about it anymore! She, Afton, nor any of the other animatronics will ever be threats to you again.”

But it didn’t make Gregory feel any better. “Yeah, yeah, I know that! But I’m still kinda scared of Vanessa…”

Bonnie flinched at the mention of her name, which made Freddy look concerned, but before either of them could figure out what to reply, Gregory continued. “I mean, yeah, she doesn’t want to kill anyone anymore, but she and the other workers here still treat you guys just as bad!”

Freddy gently replied, “Gregory, I appreciate your concern, but you should not have to worry about the way that staff treats us! We can handle it just fine, right, Bonnie?” But when he saw Bonnie looking away from them, as if confirming what Gregory said was true, he was yet again lost for words. Bonnie sighed, then said, “Gregory’s right…”

In an attempt to lighten the mood, Freddy suggested, “But, we should look on the bright side! We finally fixed Bonnie and Foxy, and now we have the band back together! Bonnie returned to his bowling alley, and is back to performing with us on the big stage!”

“But Foxy isn't!” Gregory argued. “Everyone else still thinks he's gone! He deserves to come back!”

Freddy sighed, then replied calmly, “We already talked about why we cannot do that.”

“I know, Freddy, you trying to convince staff to get Bonnie back was hard enough, and they probably wouldn't even give Foxy a chance, scrapping him the moment he's seen… but I can tell that he still misses being out there!”

No one knew what to say about that, the mood was too low to think of anything to make it better. Bonnie apologized, “Sorry guys, I didn't mean to be a cynic and lead everyone down to a depressive mood. Besides, that's who Roxy is, right?”

Freddy gasped at that comment, but at least Gregory laughed at it. “Heh, that's one thing she's the best at!”

Well, at least the mood was lightened, but you could tell that Freddy didn't want it to be because of them roasting their friend. So, he changed the subject. “Uh, can we talk about something else instead? Gregory, how about you tell us about your new friend, Clark?”

“Oh, the blond haired kid, right? The one you just played bowling with?”

Gregory nodded. “Yeah, he’s pretty cool! Like, whenever we get bored of the attractions here, he has a bunch of games on his Switch that we play together. And he's really smart too, he knows a lot about math and technology and stuff! I bet if we had him help us, we could've fixed Foxy a lot faster!”

“He seems very nice!” Freddy said. Bonnie apologized, “Sorry we haven't been able to meet him yet, kid. I'd love to at some point, but you know how hard stardom can be on a bunny. My fans just can't get enough of me, can they?”

Gregory gasped. “I just remembered! Clark's actually waiting for me at the cafeteria! He said that he wanted me to come to his house for a sleepover, but his dads have to talk to my parents first.”

“Oh… right,” Bonnie replied. Did Gregory not have any parents?

“Actually, uh, I wanna ask you guys one more thing before I go see him.” Gregory suddenly looked nervous.

“Of course, superstar!” Freddy said. “What is it?”

Gregory looked off to the side and started to form an awkward smirk. “Well,” Gregory let in a deep breath before finally asking, “I was thinking… can I call you guys my dads?”

The moment he finished his question, Freddy grinned, widened his eyes, and slowly raised his paws to cover his snout, while Bonnie curled his hands into fists, held them to his chest, and stomped in place as he let out a kettle-like squeal.

Bonnie was the first to gather enough thoughts to form his next sentence. “W- we're gonna be dads!” He grabbed Freddy's shoulders, turned them to face him, and shook him back and forth as he repeated, “WE’RE GONNA BE DADS!!” He let go of Freddy, but continued to squeal and stomp.

Freddy kneeled to put his paws on Gregory's shoulders, then said while on the verge of tears, “Bonnie and I, more than anything, have always wanted to be dads. Gregory, I promise,” He couldn't finish his sentence without crying. “We're gonna be the best dads ever!”

Freddy trapped his newly acquired son into a hug, and nuzzled his snout into the boy's hair. Before Gregory could even react to that, Bonnie joined in to do the same. Gregory playfully protested against them being all over him, but you could tell that he didn’t mean it; he genuinely seemed to enjoy it and started tearing up. Soon enough, all three of them turned into a laughing and crying mess.

Watching the three celebrate their newly formed family was probably the most heartwarming scene a person could ever witness. That was, until I… kinda… accidentally knocked over a box of supplies. I instinctively tried to place the box back, but at that point, they already noticed me.

“Clark?”
