All Might and His Secretary: Close Friends or a Hidden Romance?

On the afternoon of the Friday just passed, I was checking my Herogram during my lunch break when I saw I had been tagged in a post. Curious, I investigated.

The post was a series of photos snapped of the Symbol of Peace while attending to a villain attack in the Musutafu area in a casual tight white shirt and khakis. This in itself isn't unusual, the hero has often been spotted at the scene of a villain fight in casual clothing before.

What makes this post so intriguing is the pictures following, of a man identified as All Might's personal secretary wearing a white t-shirt and khakis. While this might just sound like a coincidence, upon closer inspection, the two are wearing identical outfits down to the brands. Furthermore, my intern, Hirose Koichi has pointed out that there are visible stains on All Might's Khakis that are a visual match to the ones on his secretary's khakis.

These pictures were posted side by side with the caption:

All Might's secret identity? Both were spotted in the same city in the same clothes, they're near the same height and look at Yagi's hair! Those two long bangs are like All Mights! It can't be a coincidence!

While it is an interesting theory, I believe that there may be a simpler answer to this mystery; All Might is in a relationship with his secretary.

Now, this is a serious accusation but I would not be making it without proof. My intern and I teamed up to tail Yagi Toshinori and what we found was shocking…

This was a disaster. What on Earth had possessed Toshinori to allow Gran to talk him into doing this? It was the perfect cover story of course, after he’d confirmed the dating rumours in a press conference no sane person would think that All Might and Yagi Toshinori was actually the same person. It was ingenious.

It was a horrible idea. Surely not even the world finding out about his injury would be as bad as this? He couldn’t escape. Everywhere he went, he was hounded about this fake relationship. Before, he had the option of remaining mostly invisible to the public in his true form. His thin and very obviously sickly appearance usually made people uncomfortable to make an effort to avoid eye contact. It was a nice break from the stares and fans and pictures associated with his other form. Now, however, he couldn’t even walk down the street and not have his journey documented by someone.

He sighed wearily. Dwelling on the situation he’d gotten himself into wouldn’t help him right now, he needed to focus on the here and now. At the moment he was sitting on an uncomfortable couch, bright lights shining down on him making sweat bead on his upper lip. At his PR team’s insistence, he was using up his precious time as All Might on a morning talk show. His PR team had told him that this would be a good way to promote the fundraiser dinner being held at Mighty Tower for childhood cancer research.

Except instead of talking about the fundraiser, the talk show host had spent the last five minutes asking him all about his relationship. Toshinori kept trying to redirect the conversation but the host just kept bringing the conversation back to the ridiculous fake relationship. "After the three-course dinner, there will be an auction, one-hundred per cent of the proceeds of which will be going directly to the charity," All Might explained, "participants will be able to bid on rare first edition and prototype merchandise such as the prototype Mighty Action Figure collection and first edition collectable cards." All Might resisted the urge to grimace, “The attendees of the gala will also have the opportunity to bid on an evening with me.” All Might had initially been against the idea. He was still unhappy with it. He only had so much time as All Might these days, the thought of using up that precious time sitting in a restaurant with a stranger left a bitter aftertaste in his mouth. He’d only agreed when he saw the starting bid was 1B yen. He’d been unable to justify bowing out after that. However it turned out, it would all be worth it if it meant they were closer to a cure for childhood cancer.

The host pounced. "How does Yagi-san feel about that?"

So caught up in his thoughts over the charity auction, it took All Might a second to process the question. “I–” He cut himself off. It was hard talking about himself in the third person, he wasn’t sure if he’d ever get used to it. “He– well…” He stuttered. He quickly cleared his throat. He wasn’t quite sure how to answer this, so he figured that sticking as close to the truth as possible was the way to go. “Well, he’s very supportive of the cause."

The host pouted and widened her eyes in an attempt to look innocent, but the look was ruined when the side of her mouth twitched up. She was excited at the prospect of some juicy gossip. "Of course, but not even the best of us are immune to jealousy."

All Might laughed awkwardly. "Oh, he doesn't need to worry about that."

The host seemed disappointed at his answer but carried on anyways. “And how would you describe your relationship with Yagi-san?”

Toshinori really regretted agreeing to Gran’s plan. Maybe it would be better if he was outed to the public, just got it over and done with instead of having to deal with this circus.
