What Happens When You Stalk Your Son

Summary:

Light Yagami walked towards the desk and reached towards the handle of the drawer.

There was no time like the present, and this was the perfect opportunity to create some chaos and put on a show. And so he did.

The magazine scene but it's slightly more accurate (in my opinion)

Notes:

So basically on Tumblr I found a funny post, that Light would have totally been believed if the magazine he was reading was about men.

And I totally agree, but have no found a fic about it. So I made it :)

Let it be known, I haven't watched Death Note in years and didn't even pass first season (I think), so I got no idea what I'm doing.

Chapter Text

Light knew this would happen eventually.

When the new hotshot serial killer dubbed Kira (Kira? I mean really?? A bit on the nose, wouldn't you think?) had made his debut, he had thrown Japan for a loop. The entire world, in fact, was in a frenzy about it. So much so that they sent in a world famous detective on this case.

He just hoped for all over this to blow over soon, that it didn't infer with his life any further. His dad seemed to be tired and very high-strung recently, especially around him.

Light got his answer on why that was when he looked through his father's computer while the whole family was a drama on the TV, something about adding a bit of normalcy and family bonding.

Mid through the movie, Light had to excuse himself to go to the bathroom, but stopped when he saw something.

The study's door was open, laptop poking out his the elder Yagami's work bag innocently, almost temptingly.

Light entered the room and went towards it. He had no idea why he did it, but he did not regret it as a big revelation had fallen on him.

As soon as he flipped out the device, the screen turned bright and there he found information about the investigation.

His name. Right under the suspect list.

In all honesty, it hurt a bit that his own parent suspected he was a murderer. That he was a complete psychopath that had some sort of weird complex, as if he believed he was god. One that service some twisted version of justice for criminals.

Granted, it was totally valid seeing that he had access to information most didn't, was considered a genius due to his IQ and how he ranked 1st place in anything academic wise. Was it weird that he felt flattered that they thought he could do this?

Shaking that thought away, he knew he was to be under surveillance soon and came up with a plan, which leads him to where he is now.

---

Once again, his father had become more skittish, ridged with interacting with him, and knew it was done. The cameras were now set up and just hoped the bathroom wasn't recording him at the very least.

Light acted everything was still fine and dandy in life. That a piece of plastic and wiring wasn't watching his every move. That he didn't notice a few men following him to and from school, a local coffee shop he liked, even a park he went on a whim to see how'd they hide.

'I bet they're bored watching a highschool life do nothing murder like,' he mused as he observed the apple in his hand. From the corner of his eye, he saw his current watcher yawn near the chip aisle.

Light later went up to the man to ask him to move as he was blocking the certain brand of potato chips bag he wanted. Plucking it up to toss in his basket, smiling and waving a goodbye while ignoring the obvious heart attack he just gave his stalker.

It was petty, but he had fun.

---

He finally set his plan in the works about two weeks later. He purposely acted impatient and absent minded all day, to work up a premotion that he was going to do something big.Which he was, but not what they were expecting.

Light all but rushed to his room, not giving out any greetings, knowing no one was home, and quickly shut his door.

He did his normal routine of changing into his favorite baggy shirt, a pair of short shorts and some leg warmers that met his thighs and went straight to then doing homework. Even if he was in the middle of having his rights violated and watched like some sort of zoo animal, he wanted to at least be worry free of any work and comfortable while doing it, god darn it.

---

When Light finished 2 hour later, he closed his eyes and threw himself on his bed for a moment. With a deep breath he then bolted straight up as if he were an arrow and set his sights towards his desk's drawer where he knew a false bottom lay where he hid his most private collection that would now soon to be exposed to a whole room of awfully nosy, detectives, one that included his father.

Inwardly, Light smiled. He wished he could record their faces when he'd 'come out the closet'. Not exactly how he'd imagine reveal that he was gay, but oh well.

Light Yagami walked towards the desk and reached towards the handle of the drawer.

There was no time like the present, and this was the perfect opportunity to create some chaos and put on a show. And so he did.

Notes:

I think I'll add a second part where it actually happens in L's point of view.
