Chapter Text
Agustín sat in a restaurant with Diego Elena and Paola.
They all chuckled and joked with each other about everything.
They really made Agustín feel better, everyone had been so nice and welcoming.
“Have you ever been in bogota?” Elena asked Agustín.
”I was born there, so yes.” Agustín nodded.
“Really! Me too!” Elena slammed the table, a bit too hard so the water glasses fell down and broke into pieces.
They all laughed and Paola rolled her eyes at Elena.
“Could you be more clumsy?” She said sarcastically.
“You’re clumsy?” Agustín asked.
“Oh, yes. I can’t go a whole day without getting hurt somehow.” She replied.
“Are you my twin or something? I get called accident prone cause I’m so clumsy.” Agustín said.
“You guys are like soulmates.” Diego chuckled.
That sentence made Agustín think of Julieta, that was exactly what Bruno said to them the first time Julieta and Agustín started to talk with each other about how it was such a coincidence that Julieta’s gift was healing and his clumsiness.
Agustín just gave a little smile to Diego and started to talk about something else, he really did miss Julieta and his daughters more than anything at this point.
A waitress came to the table with a pen and paper in her hand.
“Want anything to eat?”
“Just a glass of wine for me.” Paola said.
“I’ll take a plate of Carimañola.” Diego smiled.
“Absolutely. Anything for you two?” The waitress looked over at Agustín and Elena.
”You guys maybe want to take something and eat together?” Diego whispered and wiggled his eyebrows at them and Paola laughed.
Agustín looked down at his wedding ring and swallowed hard.
“I’ll just take some arepas.”
It reminded him of Julieta when she always healed him and playfully rolled her eyes at his new injury everyday.
“No, I’m good thanks.” Elena said.
“Coming right up.” The waitress said and walked away.
“So…you never told us, why were you at the lake last night all by yourself?” Paola looked at Agustín.
“If you are okay with talking about it of course.” Elena gave him a warm smile, just like Julieta always did.
He sighed and looked at his wedding ring once again.
“The town where I came from, it was kind of a isolated, it has huge mountains around it so no one could come in, but me and my family somehow did, but I don’t remember how since I was so young then.” He started.
-
Alma had tried to get contact with Julieta, but she just walked away without a word. She had ignored her ever since Alma told her that she sent Agustín away.
And they still hadn’t got any sign of Agustín being alive, Julieta felt like her whole world was falling apart.
She couldn’t even cry anymore, she was just numb at this point, and didn’t even talk with anyone.
That’s when Alma realized what a huge mistake she done.
-
“And my mother-in-law never really liked me, so that’s why she told me to get lost after the house broke down.” Agustín finished with tears in his eyes.
They all looked at him with shock and sadness.
“I’m…I’m so sorry to hear that, you really didn’t deserve any of that.” Diego said.
“Yes, how could anyone not like you? You’re the nicest person I’ve ever met.” Elena smiled.
Agustín smiled back and sighed.
“Do you…want to go back to that town?” Paola asked.
“No…yes? Maybe? I really don’t know at this point. I had some hard years there and it was so obvious, but no one even realized.” He replied.
“Do you want to talk about it now?” Diego placed a hand on Agustín’s shoulder.
“Not in a restaurant maybe.” Agustín chuckled.
“Oh, you’re right. Let’s eat up and then go to a better place.” Diego smiled.
They all ate up and left the restaurant.
“Where should we go?” Paola asked and looked around.
“To the lake again maybe?” Elena suggested.
“Sounds good.” Agustín nodded.
They made their way to the lake and then sat down by the water when they arrived.
“Okay, so…you said you had a bad time in your life? When was it?” Diego asked and looked at Agustín.
He nodded slowly.
“It was just some months ago actually. I’ve never had the best relationship with my father, and he can be…abusing when he’s drunk. So it was one night when he threw a glass of wine in my face, but I just told everyone that I tripped like always since I’m nothing else then clumsy and helpless there.
And after that I just got in a depressed period, but acted like everything was fine like always.”
“I’m sorry to hear that about your father…what did you do to get rid of the depression?” Elena asked.
“I…” Agustín sighed and looked down.
“I used to hurt myself, and no one saw it cause I always found a way to hide it. And as you all know, I get into accidents very often so I need healing from my wife, so the scars always disappeared the same day, but it made me feel better when I did it.”
They all looked at Agustín with sad faces and then at each other.
They grinned and jumped over at him to hug him.
Everyone rolled over into the water and laughed so it echoed in the air.
“Well thank you for that.” Agustín joked.
Diego laughed.
“Are you feeling better now?”
Agustín got quiet and thought for himself.
“Yes. Yes, I am actually.” He smiled.
“Great to hear. Do you like fishing?” Paola asked.
“I do.” He nodded.
