Chapter Text
The night started off alright, with Katsuki waking up to the sound of a wolf howling in the distance. The demon lived alone after being sent to the human realm for a mission. He wasn't given many details about the mission itself, just a scope of what he was supposed to do.
He sits up, his wings immediately extending with the given space. Even though he's had his wings for as long as he can remember, he never used them until he was sent on missions for the Demon King. So, they were a nuisance. They were big, and dark, with the ends looking like there was tar dripping onto the floor. Besides his annoying wings, he had horns that protruded from either side of his head, above his pointed ears. His teeth were sharp enough to pierce whatever he bit into with little effort. Not that he ever ate.
The blonde-haired demon was surprised to hear he was being sent on a mission. The Demon King was usually reluctant to send him, though this time, he must have had no other demon to send in his place.
Katsuki gets up and his necklace dangles as he grabs his coat off the floor. It was a charm given to him by his mother.
Tonight, he was supposed to stay on top of a bridge located in Musutafu, somewhere near Tokyo. All he knew was that he needed to report if he saw something unordinary. It was pretty boring, but Katsuki accepted the measly job given to him. There was more to come, no doubt.
He puts on his cape and heads out, tucking in his wings as he steps out of his home. It was a warm night, the humidity making him sweat a bit.
"...Let's get this over with." He mutters and flaps his wings, sending himself up into the air.

Katsuki is perched on a building a few feet away from the bridge. He can see everything from below clearly and he keeps his eyes open for any kind of movement. What was he supposed to be looking for anyway? Everything in the human world was odd, how would he know exactly what to report? Still, he keeps his eyes peeled.
He sighs. There really was nothing interesting for the demon anymore. Nothing caught his eye, nothing piqued his interest. He was bored with everything. He accepted missions from the Demon King only to see if he could get some kind of satisfaction, maybe a new interest.
It wasn't working.
He leans back, placing his hand on the cold concrete. His legs dangle off the edge of the building and his wings are tucked in again.
Suddenly, a white flash in the corner of his eye catches his attention. What was that?
Immediately, Katsuki gets up, observing the bridge below him. It's there. Whatever it was, it was seriously bright. Very noticeable. He squints, unable to figure out what it is.
And then, it becomes clear.
The being is talking to someone-- a child. It smiles as the child runs off, waving at it slowly as it runs away.
Katsuki licks his lips. This was going to be fun. With a quick step off the edge, he extends his wings and swoops down to the being. As he gets closer, the figure of the creature becomes clearer and he smirks.
An angel.
He had only heard that they were on the other side of hell. No way had he ever seen one, besides the half-angel that guarded the gates of hell. Even he was more demon than angel. But here, before him, stood a pure angel, dressed in white robes. Its wings were blinding white, with a faint halo above its head.
The angel catches sight of the demon and immediately moves away.
"Hey now, don't be afraid." He taunts, shoving his hands in his pockets.
The angel looked to be of his age, maybe a year or two younger. He had green hair that glowed lighter toward the tips. He draws his eyebrows at the sight of the demon.
"You. Who are you, demon?"
Wow, he even sounded angel-like. It was so disgusting.
Katsuki grins. "Name's Katsuki. What about you, dear angel? Who do I owe the pleasure of meeting tonight?"
The angel narrows his eyes, spreading out his white, fluffy wings. "That would be none of your concern. Why are you here?"
The demon clicks his tongue. "Not to cause trouble, that's for sure. You, on the other hand, seem to be the very thing I was sent on this mission for."
"What does that mean?"
Within a blink of an eye, Katsuki appears right in front of the angel. His eyes grow wide, and before he can attack, the demon slams him into the ground.
"Too slow." He snaps, his hand pushing the latter into the ground. The angel coughs, grabbing onto the blonde-haired demon's wrist and sliding it forward, releasing the deathly grip on him. He gets up, skipping a few steps back.
"You have some nerve." He says and Katsuki chuckles.
"I am a demon, after all. Will you tell me your name now? It's only fair for pummeling you to the ground without giving you a chance to get me first."
The angel grumbles, almost annoyed. What was with this demon?
"Izuku Midoriya. I'm the Angel of Dreams and Sleep."
Ah, so angels had titles too. Katsuki smirks.
"Izuku... What a strange name." He tilts his head to the side, his single red earring hanging slowly. The angel folds his hands in his huge sleeves.
"I don't see what's so strange about it." His voice drops and he mumbles. "I shouldn't be communicating with the likes of you... Who knows how much trouble I could get into with the higher heavens."
"Hey! What are you mumbling about over there?" The demon yells and Izuku blinks. And then he narrows his eyes.
"Don't mind me asking, but what is your title?"
Katsuki stares. And then, he grins.
"My title? I'm Katsuki Bakugo, Demon of Nightmares." He laughs and the angel's eyes grow wide. "Seems like you and I aren't a good match when it comes to battle."
His eyes grow cold. "I'd beat you without any effort."
Shivers crawl up Izuku's spine and everything in his body is screaming at him to run. To leave his current predicament before things get worse. The angel had only heard of the Demon of Nightmares in stories. Never had he imagined meeting the monster in person, especially after gaining his title of Dreams.
He was outmatched significantly. The demon before him was dangerous and didn't have any regard for lives, whether they were humans, angels, and even demons. He was a menace, a true demon.
"You're not going to run away, are you?" Katsuki's voice breaks through his panicked thoughts and Izuku swallows. This demon...
"Hey, hey.... Let's play a game." He walks toward the angel. Izuku steps back. "How about I give you a headstart to run? If I catch you, you're done for, Angel of Dreams."
Izuku shudders. "No! No, don't come closer!"
Katsuki watches as the terrified expression of the angel grows with each step. This was amazing. How were angels this intimidated by demons such as him? He knew he was scary, but no way was a pure angel scared of him. Hah! He could almost kill out of pleasure.
In truth, the demon had no motivation to kill the angel. Plus, he found the dainty little angel interesting. He wouldn't kill him this time, but their next encounter would leave Izuku Midoriya begging for his life.
He was sure of it.
"S-stop it! What do you want from me?!" The angel stutters. Katsuki is ecstatic, his excitement was reaching levels he had felt only once before. When he destroyed an entire town of demons.
He bares his fangs. "My, you look scared, Angel of Dreams. Are you going to run, or should I attack you here and now?"
Izuku clenches his jaw. His hands were sweating like crazy, and his face probably showed his fear. He didn't want to die, not now. And definitely not like this. His back comes in contact with a tree and he turns back, dread filling every limb in his body.
"Izuku."
The voice is right next to his ear, and when he turns his head, he sees the demon standing right in front of him. He was bigger, more toned than he seemed from afar. His deep red eyes bore right into the depths of the angel's soul.
"Y-you... Are you going to kill me...?"
Katsuki laughs. He tilts the angel's chin upward and their eyes meet.
"Kill you? Not tonight. I'm in a particularly good mood, so I'll let you off for now."
Izuku blinks... He said what?!
"However, the next time we meet, I won't be so easy on you." His voice drops. "So be prepared, Izuku."
The angel nods and Katsuki backs away, shoving his hands in his pockets. He turns around and walks away, sticks crunching under his shoes.
"Go on, leave before I change my mind." He calls and Izuku snaps out of whatever trance he was in.
He summons a portal-- most likely to one of the heavens-- behind him and steps in, leaving the demon alone with the sound of crickets chirping and water rushing.
He smiles.
What an interesting encounter.
