Chapter Text
Rain smiles at his phone while walking through the hallway on his way to class. He had messaged Phayu, telling him about the good grades he’d gotten earlier. Now his boyfriend had replied with praise and a promise of a reward for when he would come back home later that day. His overactive mind provided him with all sorts of possibilities for the prize he would get.
“Really, he’s gotten in over his head, pursuing someone as handsome and talented as him.”
“Do you think he’s aware that he’s only being toyed with?”
The conversation was just loud enough for Rain to hear but he didn’t pay any attention to it. His thoughts still somewhere else entirely. Until there was a certain familiarity to the names they were using. It made him stop dead in his tracks.
“Aware? Rain? Seriously, The boy is so stupid he wouldn’t even know the truth when it hit him in the face.”
“Honestly, I don’t get what P-Phayu sees in him.”
“Cheap entertainment, maybe?”
“Whatever it is, it’s not going to last long.”
Rain turns his eyes to the small group of classmates that are talking about him. Right at that moment they seem to realize he is there as they all turn to look at him. The boy who made the last remark gives him a mocking look. His eyes gleaming with something Rain doesn’t quite recognize and an unsettling grin plastered on his face.
Rain ducks his head and quickly walks away. His good mood from earlier completely dissolved.
______________
During class, Rain can barely keep his focus. The words of his peers are swirling inside his head making it hard for him to pay attention to what is being said.
What did they mean? Was he really being toyed with? Surely he wasn’t. Phayu had already told him that he loved him. More than once. And that whole thing with Stop… If Phayu was only playing, why would he go through that entire ordeal, let himself be humiliated and beaten like that? No, Phayu loved him. He was sure of that.
But it didn’t stop the whirlwind of thoughts. Self doubt started to settle in. His boyfriend might love him, yes. But why?
Sky nudges him which makes him jump slightly in his seat.
“Rain, where are you right now?” He asks. His eyes immediately fill with concern upon seeing the boy’s troubled expression. “Hey, are you okay?”
After a beat of silence, Rain nods.
“I’m fine.” He answers quietly and he gives his friend a smile. He doesn’t want to concern him. This was nothing, right? Just some crude remarks of jealous people.
Sky observes him for a second and sighs.
“Alright. Just try to pay a little more attention, please. Or else you won’t be able to pass the next test.”
“I’m sorry.” Rain says with a small pout. “Can I borrow your notes again?”
Sky rolls his eyes and dramatically huffs out a breath. He can barely contain himself from grinning when he sees his friends' dark orbs turn into his signature doe eyes.
“Can I? Na, Na, Na?”
He can’t help it. The boy simply knew how to get things to work out his way. Sky is certain he was more than aware of what he was doing. He can't help smiling and shakes his head.
“What would you do without me, huh?” He sighs. “Sure. Your best friend will lend you his notes, yet again. Just pay me back with an ice cream or something.”
Rain smiles brightly at that. “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
He faces forward again and actually tries to pay attention to the rest of class. He can’t expect to rely on his friends all the time after all.
Sky keeps his eyes on him a little longer, satisfied to see that the dark expression he’d noticed earlier seems to have cleared for now. He does wonder about what had been going through the boy’s mind and makes a mental note to ask about this later.
______________
When class ends, Rain quickly picks up his stuff and rushes out the door. He is moving so fast, he doesn’t even hear his friends calling after him.
He is excited because Phayu will be waiting for him in front of the school. His boyfriend had messaged him to let him know that he would leave work earlier so he could pick him up with his bike. It is all part of the promised reward.
As he rushes out of the door his eyes immediately find his tall and handsome man leaning against his motorcycle, his arms crossed in front of him. There are several people standing close to him, looking at him with adoration and talking among themselves with hushed, excited voices. Rain can’t blame them, obviously. The reputation Phayu had around the school combined with his beautiful features were more than enough to let anyone swoon. There was nothing his boyfriend could do about that but still, Rain can’t help the ugly, jealous feeling that is rising inside his chest. Nor can he prevent thinking about the remarks of his classmates again which makes him suddenly feel very uncertain. Yet that all goes away instantly when Phayu notices him, his lips forming a bright, genuine smile. Rain sighs in relief and rushes towards him, throwing his arms around his neck. The man’s arms wrap around his waist, pulling him closer.
“Hi, my cute boy!” Phayu greets him and sweetly kisses his lips.
Rain kisses back, a satisfied sound escaping from his throat.
“Missed me?” His boyfriend asks with a teasing tone to his voice.
The boy bites his bottom lip and nods fervently. Phayu laughs at that, making a warm feeling spread through Rain’s entire body. The elder scrunches up his nose, a grin spreading across his face as they touch their foreheads together.
“Let’s go home.” Phayu says while letting go of his junior and reaching for the spare helmet. He gently places it on Rain’s head and pushes his hair back to the side so it won’t fall in front of his face. After that, he gets on the bike first and extends an arm to help Rain get on as well. The boy immediately wraps his arms around his torso, already knowing well enough how this works. He lays his head against Phayu’s back, closes his eyes and inhales deeply. His boyfriend’s scent intensifies the warm feeling even more.
Oh dear, how much he loves this man!
______________
Rain is sitting cross legged on the sofa, playing with his phone. But the game he is currently occupying himself with can barely hold his attention as sounds of cooking and delicious smells drift his way. Phayu is making them dinner and has told him, in that stern voice of his, to stay out of the kitchen. He wants tonight's meal to be a surprise. And so the younger boy does as he was told but it took all his willpower to stay where he was.
“P-Phayu…” he complains. “How much longer do I have to wait?”
“It’s almost ready, Rain. Just a little longer.” Phayu says with a soft smile as he looks over at his boy.
Rain sighs dramatically and lets himself fall down with his head on a pillow. He drapes his arm over his eyes and lets out a soft whimper.
“P…” he whines.
“Alright, alright,” the elder chuckles. “It’s all done now. Come eat, naughty boy.”
Rain is up and at the table in seconds. The meal that is placed in front of him looks delicious. There are several dishes, all of them being things Rain loves to eat.
Among them is a plate of stir-fried water spinach, another plate of stir-fried radish with egg and a spicy century egg salad. Rain doesn’t seem to really remember but these dishes would be forever stuck inside Phayu’s memory, eating them bringing him back to the first dinner they shared together. He was happy that he managed to make them all.
Phayu looks adoringly at the boy opposite him while he takes his first bite and sees that his eyes close, a happy smile on his face while he chews.
“Whaw, P-Phayu.” He sighs with contentment. “Did you think you were cooking for a contest or something? This is delicious!”
Phayu lets out a soft laugh. “I’m glad you like it that much. It’s all for you my cute boy. You deserved it after working so hard for your projects.”
Rain turns his big, bright eyes towards his boyfriend and smiles brightly.
“Thank you P-Phayu! You’re the best!”
His smile turns into a cheeky grin. “You always take good care of your wife.”
This has the desired effect as Phayu’s eyes darken in a way that tells Rain his reward is far from over and will only get better.
After dinner they do the dishes together and make their way upstairs. It doesn’t take long until they find their way into bed, clothes thrown carelessly on the ground, kissing and touching each other wherever they can.
That night they sleep with their legs entangled, arms holding the other close as if it was a necessity.
