Chapter 1: kenny needs a hug

kenny dropped his face in his hands, his shoulders heaving. was any of that real? was their trio real? or was he the fool, the third wheel, the idiot trying to be a brother amongst biological brothers. jack would never want him, jack only pitied him. he rubbed his eyes before the tears could form. he needed whiskey.

Chapter 2: jack needs a hug

kennedy takes a deep breath with his head in his hands; in and out, he reminds himself. suddenly, he hears the door click. the familiar and comforting face greets him, “cmere jack” kenny says as he tenderly leans in for a hug.

Chapter 3: distractions

kennedy snapped back into the meeting, alarmed at how easily he had zoned out. how on earth did he lose focus? he knew how… he was imagining kenny’s eyes boring into his, shoving him against the wall… wait, he was doing it again! “this is nuclear war, jack!” he thought to himself. “pull yourself together!”

Chapter 4: alcoholism

“maybe i need some whiskey,” jack muttered.
“are you mad?” bobby snapped. “there’s only one thing worse than an incompetent president, a drunk one, and right now the generals already think you’re the former!”

Chapter 5: fight or flight

jack felt like he couldn’t breathe. he sat down and loosened his tie. "kenny always told me to loosen my tie," he thought. suddenly the choking feeling was back. he yanked on his tie until it was flying across the room before he could even register having thrown it off. he wanted to scream, he wanted to claw at his throat. he couldn’t believe he had pushed kenny away without even realizing it. would their friendship ever be what it used to?

Chapter 6: confession

“You need to pull it together, Jack!” Kenny shouted, his face turning red with frustration. “The others will never trust you if you can’t trust yourself in this crisis!”
“I’m trying my best!” Jack snapped, trying to keep the tears out of his voice. “I feel like you don’t even recognize how hard I’m trying to fix this mess-”
“I know you’re trying, but the others don’t know that! All they see is you storming out of meetings-”
“You’re supposed to be on my side, I include you in the secret after meetings because-”
“Because what?! You need someone subpar to remind you how smart you and Bobby are? Because-”
“BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!” Both men froze.

Chapter 7: stability

Kenny leaned in for a kiss, but was pushed back by jack. “It's too soon,” said Jack, “maybe if we were a little more stable. Mentally.” But kenny did not want to leave and neither did jack. Kenny still felt like it was the perfect chance for a step forward in their relationship, so he pushed jack against a wall. Kenny kisses jack on the neck and said “I'll be stable just for you.”

Chapter 8: giddiness

jack was laying on his stomach on his presidential (queen sized) bed in the white house. he had the letter from kenny unfolded in front of him. kenny’s beautiful, looping scrawl gloriously spelled out “my darling jack” at the beginning of the letter. jack kicked his legs in the air and giggled. kenny was such a sweet man.

Chapter 9: life is a highway

Kenny pulled Bobby into a deep kiss and ended the night. The day dawned crisp and clear, Kenny peeled his eyes open, woke up first and peeled the sheets off of him. He went to make breakfast and when he came back he saw that Bobby was half awake, and a little excited. And so he went in for the kill.

“Are you a highway?” Kenny asked

Bobby replied “yes sir”

“Because I want to ride you all night long”.

“Oh really?”

“Yes really”

And so they did it again and again throughout the day and well into the night.

Chapter 10: high school shenanigans

kenny gripped jack’s thigh under the table of their homeroom class. as their teacher droned on, kenny leaned close to jack’s ear and whispered, “you look hot when you’re bored.”

jack suppressed a smile. “and you’re hot when you’re annoying.” kenny balled up a shredded piece of paper and flicked it at the back of bobby’s head.

bobby whipped around. “you guys! i’m trying to focus on the career quiz!”

jack smirked and leaned back over to kenny. “i won’t need a career because i’ll just be your sugar baby.” kenny chuckled, and bobby scoffed in disbelief before turning back to the presentation.

kenny traced his fingers down jack’s thigh slowly. jack twitched out of ticklishness. kenny grinned like a cat and brought his hand a bit higher up. jack gasped loudly before he could stop himself.

their teacher turned around with an unimpressed look. “bobby, disrupt the class one more time and i’ll send you outside.”

bobby spluttered in disbelief. “but- but it wasn’t-“ the teacher cut him off and continued the lesson. the two of them giggled.

Chapter 11: high school au - homeroom shenanigans
