Work Text:
The Sun, the Moon and the Stars were the gods of the sky. Amongst other gods, they were otherwise known as Eijirou, Katsuki and Izuku. All three of the gods were known to be the closest of friends. Every day for an hour and a half at sunrise and sunset, they would meet upon the bridge and talk until their time ran out. However, Eijirou and Katsuki were clearly in love. They were so in love, that their passion for each other blinded them to the point of unconsciously leaving out Izuku at every sunrise and sunset.
Through this, the Sun and Moon gods were blinded and were utterly unaware as the stars in the sky slowly started to dim as Izuku was weakened with the heartbreak of unrequited love as Eijirou and Katsuki seemed to ignore him every time they met upon the bridge.
Due to the two gods being so consumed with each other, they were unable to know that Izuku loved them both. They never knew that Izuku wanted to join their love but felt that they would never love him back. They never knew that Izuku did not try to gain their attention because he did not want to be selfish and interrupt their love that seemed to cast him aside so easily.
Although it has been confirmed that gods were immortal, there was one weakness that could be exploited. The weakness of heartbreak was downright unavoidable no matter which god it touched. The pain of heartbreak weakened them largely, which allowed other gods to take advantage of their dismantled state and then slaughter them mercilessly.
Thus, as Izuku’s heartbreak worsened, he gradually became more vulnerable as he unknowingly allowed the two gods to break his heart as he looked at the two gods be so enamoured with each other that they seemingly had forgotten his existence entirely. With this, Izuku slowly stopped coming to the bridge altogether at every sunrise and sunset due to Eijirou and Katsuki never registering the lack of Izuku’s presence at the bridge.
Still, the two gods had yet to realise that Izuku was missing at every sunrise and sunset. It was not until they saw a lone star fall from the darkness of the night sky that they realised that something was amiss. No, it was not like a shooting star that was wished upon by the mortals of the earth, but more akin to a crashing star, like the tears that gently caressed a mortal's cheek.
This crashing star could have only meant that Izuku was getting weaker and at a stubbornly slow pace at that. Each falling star reflected the beautiful yet melancholic tears that flowed down the freckled cheeks of Izuku’s face. Though Izuku was known for being an emotional god, he was also a god who was known for the many battles that he had fought and had come out victorious and thus was not easily broken to such an extreme extent. Both Eijirou and Katsuki knew this, thus allowing the tragedy to evolve into a deeper heart-wrenching catastrophe for the two gods.
At this point, the two gods finally understood that Izuku had stopped coming to the bridge at every sunrise and sunset completely, causing panic to arise within the two gods.
They both unanimously decided to search for Izuku as both gods felt a sudden gut-wrenching emptiness within themselves, as though something was amiss within the depths of their very souls.
As many sunrises and sunsets slowly passed, the two gods were unsuccessful in locating Izuku. Sorrow consumed their hearts as they scoured every place for the missing Star God that would join them every sunrise and sunset without question. Without Izuku's presence, the gods felt incomplete and hollow, not knowing what it was they felt at that moment; they temporarily pushed aside the decaying feeling.
As time passed on, they started to realise that the stars were now dimming quicker than before, which could only mean that Izuku was still weakening, and quicker than he was before.
Guilt tore apart the two gods as they loathed themselves for not realising the state of Izuku before it had to get to this point.
Starting to lose hope, they searched one last time for the last place they would possibly find the Star God. It was a mortal forest where soft snow blanketed every inch of land and vegetation in sight.
They searched one last time in the green forest that they hoped to find Izuku in when they felt the presence of another god, a powerful god. A sudden surge of panic arose through the two gods as they realised that another god may possibly take advantage of Izuku in such a weak state. Now searching frantically for Izuku, they had finally stumbled upon him, where they found him so incomparably weak and kneeling on the icy ground, shivering. He was clutching his chest with tears streaming down his rosy freckled cheeks. The two gods stood paralysed at the sight of the brokenly devastated Star God. He looked seemingly unrecognisable in his wrecked state. His skin was pale, thus causing his freckles to stand out in contrast to how much they did prior, his frame was thin, and his eyes had lost the bright twinkle that had once lit up Izuku's face entirely, brightening even the darkest of places.
Izuku, who had yet to realise the presence of the two gods, merely kneeled to the ground, sobbing out in anguish for a love he would never have. He cried for a true love he felt he could never be a part of. He cried for the love that would never embrace him. He cried to be a part of something that would never accept him. He cried for his two unrequited lovers that would never love him back.
The two gods stared helplessly at Izuku as all his pain was unveiled to them upon a silver platter. They were the ones that had abandoned and destroyed Izuku. They were the ones who had not realised how important and vital Izuku was to them until this very moment when it could very much be too late to save Izuku. They gazed silently at the shell of the god that once used to be. Their love for each other had utterly blinded them to the point of casting Izuku aside for so long and carelessly neglecting him without as so much of a second thought. At this very moment, they realised that the feeling of loss and emptiness they had felt within their hearts had been Izuku, realising that they loved him as much as they loved one another. They had finally realised that they had been so wrapped up in each other, only for it to turn out that they had broken their missing piece, that being Izuku. Katsuki, not being able to stop himself, sprinted towards Izuku with tears cascading down his face as he crushed Izuku into a hug one would only give a lover they had not seen in months.
Izuku froze as he heard the cries and apologies that fell from Katsuki's mouth. Izuku looked up, only to find Eijirou staring at him and trying to get Katsuki off of him, fearing that Eijirou would not want his lover embracing another like Katsuki was lovingly embracing him. Despite this, in Izuku’s weakened state, Izuku made a trivial attempt to escape the embrace but was ultimately unsuccessful in his attempt to escape. Instead, Izuku had used the last of his consciousness to get out of Katsuki's grip but ultimately passed out as he did not have the power nor the strength to stay awake any longer.
With the looming fear of another god finding Izuku in such a state, Katsuki and Eijirou scooped up Izuku’s unconscious body from the icy ground, and made a quick dash for the bridge, which was their sacred space.
Eijirou and Katsuki carried Izuku back to the cabin that sat next to the bridge, where they would care for and guard his unconscious body at every sunrise and sunset until he awoke from his weakened state.
While they waited for the god to wake up, both gods realised that their lives would have been incomplete without the presence of Izuku in their lives. Immense guilt filled them as they realised that Izuku might have possibly overheard their discussions about leaving the immortal realm to live a mortal life where they could be in love freely without the boundaries of the sunrise and sunset. This made them internally come to a conclusion about their deep affection that seemed to blossom while they both stared down at the unconscious body of Izuku. At first, both gods were scared that Izuku would never wake up again. However, as they gazed at the stars at every possible chance that they got, they saw the stars start to slowly brighten over time, which gave them hope for their lovers' eventual awakening.
After many sunrises and sunsets, Izuku had awoken from his deep slumber with the two gods looking after and protecting Izuku. Albeit Izuku was still weak, the two gods were merely glad that Izuku was awake. Katsuki cried heavy tears of regret and guilt as he bowed down and begged Izuku for forgiveness on his knees. Eijirou came to, begging on his knees that Izuku forgive them for neglecting him so carelessly.
Izuku was weary and asked only that they give him time to think and process their words and actions.
The two gods, willing to do anything to regain the respect and trust of Izuku, reluctantly gave the god space. Though they voiced their concerns at Izuku’s weakened state being taken advantage of by other gods, Izuku reassured them that, although he was weak right now, he was still able to defend himself and would cry out for their help if needed, which somewhat eased the arising unease that the two gods felt.
They waited longingly. They never bugged Izuku, only continued the routine of gathering upon the bridge at every sunrise and sunset, with heavy melancholy in their hearts as they revised over the damage they had caused. As much as the two gods wanted so desperately to speak to Izuku, they knew that they had to respect the wishes if they wanted a chance to speak or see him ever again.
Finally, one sunset, the two gods sat upon the bridge, gazing at the peaking stars with heavy emptiness in their chests as tears flowed down their faces silently, thinking about how different it could have gone had they realised their love sooner. Had they not caused Izuku such harm. Izuku walked upon the bridge silently, looking more radiant and ethereal than the two gods had ever seen before.
Izuku smiled gently as he saw his two lovers upon the bridge, though tears welled up in his eyes as he looked upon the state of the two gods.
Their eyes were red-rimmed and brimming with tears, hair a mess, and bags underneath their eyes; they looked weakened and distraught. Despite this, as Izuku walked closer to them, their eyes shone with bright happiness and relief. They stood up quickly, and though they stopped their sudden movements, hesitance was evident in their stance. The two gods were overcome by the powerful urge to run over to Izuku and encircle him up into their arms, but they did not want to overstep any boundaries of Izuku.
Izuku saw their hesitance and how badly they wanted to run up to him. His heart swelled as he realised the two gods did truly love him back. He had thought it over and still deeply loved the two gods with all his heart, though he told them that he wanted to take it slow for now. He wanted them to prove to him that they could love him and be there for him like they were to each other before.
Eijirou and Katsuki did all that they could to prove to Izuku that they truly loved him and that what they feel is true and deep. They involve him in their plans to become mortal and to live a life full of love with no boundaries. They worshipped Izuku's body like a temple, evolving their intimacy to physical to the point that they could not keep their hands off of one another.
The great god of the universe, All Might, looked upon the three gods and took pity on them. He tied their strings of fate and welcomed them into the mortal realm where their souls would meet in every lifetime, falling in love every time.
