Chapter Text
Inside a large room with high ceilings were pairs of people practiced the art of fencing, filling the room with clangs of metal against metal. Over to the side, on a bench against one of the walls, was a young woman with her long dark brown hair pulled back into a tight and sleek ponytail. Beatrice was a bodyguard, and she was very good at her job. She’s been trained to protect and was highly sought after by the rich and famous, which is why she found herself here this morning.
Beatrice had been hired by a wealthy businessman named Vincent Silva to look after his daughter Ava. This morning Beatrice has escorted her charge to her weekly fencing practice as usual. The young heiress to an extensive fortune had a great many extracurricular activities, and Beatrice went with her to each one. After five months of it, Beatrice has grown used to the routine, but she hadn’t ever gotten used to Ava Silva. The shorter woman was outgoing and often bubbly which overwhelmed the quiet and reserved Beatrice.
“Did you see that, Beatrice?” Ava called from the mat where she fenced with her coach.
Beatrice smiled and gave a nod, even though it wasn’t true. Beatrice had been checking the exits again when Ava had done whatever move she was hoping her bodyguard had seen. Ava was always trying to maintain the bodyguard’s attention and it had grown tiresome. Beatrice found the heiress to be a bit of a show-off and often reckless. This had made her job very difficult. At the many parties Ava attended she often got very inebriated and made poor and unsafe decisions which Beatrice had to bail her out of. Ava always apologized but it was still rather annoying to have to constantly be at the ready to stop Ava from events like jumping off a second story building into a pool below. However, the bodyguard couldn’t deny that the young heiress had a love of life, which often made her smile.
Ava Silva pulled the masked helmet from her head and walked to her bodyguard. “Done for the day,” she beamed whipping a bit of sweat from her brow.
Beatrice stood and stuffed her hands in her pockets. “The car is waiting outside as usual.”
“Do you think I’m getting better?”
Beatrice was a bit taken aback by this question. She knew nothing about fencing but could make a safe assumption. “Yes, since you’ve started you’ve come a long way.” She hoped her lie would be enough to satisfy her client.
Ava grinned at the floor and smoothed a stray piece of hair from her face back into her ponytail. “Thanks,” she panted heading for the locker room with Beatrice close behind.
Beatrice waited for the heiress while she showered and then guided her back into the parking lot where a black sedan was waiting for them. Once inside the large car, Beatrice was once again surprised by another question from Ava Silva.
“Do you wanna go see a movie?”
“What?” Beatrice practically jumped in confusion.
The heiress raised a thin brow and snickered. “I know you prefer reading, but you do know what a movie is right?”
“Yes, of course I know what a movie is!”
“Well do you wanna go see one now instead of heading back to my apartment.”
Beatrice blinked rapidly still confused by the offer. “If you want to see a movie that’s of course fine.” She had taken Ava to see things like premieres before, but this was different.
“No, I mean do you wanna sit together in a theatre instead of you standing in the back like a creeper.”
Beatrice paused, her mind trying to assess the situation. What should she say? She needed to remain professional, but there was something so sincere in the request that it was hard to deny it. “I’ll need to have the driver take over watching from behind for me… But yes, I can sit beside you during a showing of a movie.”
Ava almost squealed with joy. “Great! Then it’s settled! To the theatre we go!”
